She really tried her best to hide it but it was hard to miss : Uraraka Ochaco was not feeling well.
Sure, she was smiling and giggling at Denki's jokes and marvelling at Sato's cakes and telling Bakugou off when he bothered Izuku and listening to Mina and Tooru gossiping and everything she did everyday.
But today, she did all of that with way less enthusiasm and joy. No one really dared to ask her what was wrong. They all believed that she'd tell them whenever she'd see fit, but the evening came and she had said nothing and she seemed more and more depressed by the minutes. She had even refused the mochis Tsuyu had offered her. Tonight was a Friday night and they had all night to make her feel better.
She was looking at her phone with a frown with such an intense look of concentration that she did not notice that all of her classmates were there, looking at her. Even Bakugou, who had been dragged to the living room by Kirishima when he had tried to go to bed early.
"Ochaco-chan ?" Tsuyu's voice shook her out of her torpor. She looked up at her and frowned when she noticed all the 1A students were there. "We all think we need to talk."
"What ? Why ? What do you mean ?" Ochaco's smile was so forced it was almost painful to watch. "Is something wrong ?" She looked at them, trying to see if one of them was hurt or sick or missing from this improvised gathering.
"Yeah, you." She jumped at Bakugou's rough tone.
"Me ? I have no idea what you mean." She grimaced with a frown.
"Ochaco-chan, everyone can see you're not feeling well today. We can't force you tell us what is bothering you but know that you can talk to us." Momo sat next to her and grabbed her hand, rubbing her thumb over her knuckles.
"I-" What could she tell them so they'd stop worrying over her ? She felt her phone vibrating on her laps. She knew it was her mother, she knew what she was going to tell her. Her lower lip quivering and she stood hastily. "It's nothing, really. I'm fine." She pushed threw the bodies around her but was stopped by a heavy hand on her shoulder.
"Uraraka, wait." She felt Kirishima trying to turn her around but she couldn't. She couldn't let them see the tears threatening to fall on her face.
She did not want to bother or worry them, they had so many better things to do, right now. They all deserved to enjoy a calm weekend before their crazy week of school work and training.
She hoped Kirishima did not feel her shoulders shaking.
"Uraraka, please."
She gulped at his pleading tone and chanced a glance at him above her shoulder. He was hiding her from their classmates. He frowned at her tearful eyes. He hesitated only a second before he pulled her hard towards him. She stumbled into his chest and he wrapped his arms around her, tightly.
She blinked into his shirt a couple of times, trying to get a hold of herself but couldn't. She burst into tears, clutching the back of his shirt and heaving in his arms.
She thought she registered that one of his hands was softly caressing her hair. The strange, intimate gesture would have been weird if she had not been crying her eyes out on his shirt.
"It's okay. Everything is going to be okay. I'm here for you, Ochaco. We're all here for you." He murmured in her hair and she wanted to believe him.
She had no idea how long she stood there, buried in his arms, but neither of them moved until her tears ran dry. She did not know if their classmates were still there or not and she wasn't sure she cared at the moment.
When she finally lifted her head and looked up at Kirishima, he smiled at her, a kind, soft smile they rarely saw on him. The hand on her head moved to dry what moisture was left on her cheek softly.
"Let's sit down okay ? Have a glass of water, maybe eat something ?" She nodded numbly. She did not have the strength to walk all the way to her room anyway.
Still gripping his shirt, he led her to the couch. He sat next to her and smiled when Koji handed them glasses of water. Uraraka gulped hers slowly but drank it all. Behind Koji, Sato was waiting, a plate of small cakes in his hands.
"Do you want to talk about it ?"
She averted her eyes. Did she want to talk about it ? She wasn't sure… But she knew they wouldn't leave her alone until they'd have some kind of explanation.
"Family problems." She tried to shrug but shook as a sob threatened to overcome her again.
She was met with silence. Her eyes never left the coffee table in front of her. She refused to look at them all, refuse to let them see her so weak and broken.
"My grandmother has been in the hospital for a few months now. She had a surgery yesterday. There were complications." She breathed as deeply as she could - which wasn't much at the moment - and steeled herself as best as she could. "We don't have the money for the treatment and they don't think she'll make it past next week." Her voice grew weaker and weaker until it was only a whisper.
She felt Kirishima holding her hand in support, and Tsuyu sat on her other side, rubbing her back soothingly.
"And I already sent them all my allowance and I don't have enough money to buy a freaking train ticket to go and see her one last time." She shut her eyes tightly, willing the tears to stay where they were. Explaining that she was so broke she couldn't afford to visit her dying grandmother was humiliating enough as it was.
From the corner of her eyes, she could see her friends moving around the room, muttering stuff to each others. Surely they were discussing how pathetic she was.
It made her suddenly angry.
She didn't want their pity. She didn't need it. She tried to stand to stomp to her bedroom and lock herself for the entire weekend but Kirishima didn't let her. His hand in hers, resting on her laps, was pinning her to the couch.
"Uraraka-san." Todoroki appeared before her eyes as he sat on the coffee table. Bakugou was right next to her, which was strange enough for her to know something was wrong. "We're going to help you." He announced and her head snapped up to look at him.
"I don-"
"We know." He cut her, his hands in front of him in a placating gesture. "But we wan't to help you. I've already booked a train ticket for you, you're leaving tomorrow morning."
"Wh-What ?" Her voice caught in her throat. "I can't accept it. I don't-"
"Oï, don't think you have any say in this, Cheeks." Bakugou growled. She looked at him with wide eyes. "And don't think we're doing it out of pity either !"
Coming from him she had no trouble believing it. Bakugou didn't know what pity was.
"I'm pretty sure if it anyone else in this room had been in your place you'd want to help them too. Amma right ?" He glared and she noticed bashfully. "Would you do it out of pity ?"
"What ? Of course not ! I'd do it because I'd hate to see any of you sad when I can help them ! I'd do it because I care." She frowned.
"Well, we do it because we care." Todoroki's soft voice replaced Bakugou's. "We have the mean to help you, so let us." He leaned forwards and grasped her free hand. "Please, Uraraka-san."
"I…" Could she though ? Could she accept her friends' more than generous offer ?
It was no secret that some of her classmates were healthy. The train ticket wasn't so much but … Her grandmother treatment was madly expensive. She frowned. If she were to accept, she'd have to repay them, even if it took her years.
"I'll repay you." She looked at him, her eyes holding her resolve. "I'll repay every cent."
"You really don't have to. I doubt my father will even notice the money's gone." He grimaced.
It was no secret Todoroki liked dotting on his friends with Endeavour's money as often and as much as he could, just to spit him.
"Todoroki-kun… I can't not repay you, it won't sit right with me."
"Then, repay me by becoming a great hero and saving countless of lives." He squeezed her hand with his cold one. "That's really all I ask." She gulped and he knew he could feel her hand trembling in his. She knew everyone around her could see her shaking as she tried to suppress the sob that threatened to escape her lips.
"I will." Her voice was strangled. But she knew she'd find other ways to repay him as well. She couldn't just take his money and wait years before she could do something for him in exchange for it.
Todoroki's smile was soft and reassuring. She breathed deeply. Both her hands were held by him and Kirishima, Tsuyu was rubbing her back comfortingly, Sato had placed cakes in front of her, Bakugou hadn't yelled at anyone in more than ten minutes, Mina and Jirou were smiling, waving her favourite fluffy blanket she always left on the couch in their hands. Iida and Izuku were smiling timidly too. Shoji had a pile of books in his arms and she knew he had gathered them for her to read.
Each one of her classmates was there and she felt… loved. Yes, she was feeling loved.
A timid smile appeared on her lips as she thanked them all profusely.
"Alright, we can't end this evening just like that !" Sero declared and Denki winked at her. "Let's have our movie night today instead of tomorrow as Uraraka won't be there otherwise."
Everyone agreed with enthusiasm and a movie was quickly chosen. Sure, Bakugou tried to sneak back to his room but Denki and Sero stopped him before he could reach the elevator.
Snuggled between Tsuyu and Kirishima and her comfort blanket on her laps, Ochaco felt better. She leaned her head on Kirishima's shoulder, their hands still linked, as the movie, some rom-com Mina had chosen, started.
The movie was funny but she was exhausted and, soon enough, she fell asleep on her classmate.
She didn't know how she got to her room, nor who set her alarm clock for the next morning.
Half the class had walked her to the train station and Todoroki had told her that he had already called his father for her grandmother treatments as she was boarding.
For the first time in what felt a long time, as she watched the countryside through the train window, she felt reassured. She wanted to believe that everything was going to be alright.

AN : Thank you so much for reading this new chapter. I wanted a different atmosphere and to show a different side of our favourite girl, so I hope you liked it !
I'm pretty sure the 1-A students are friends and it's canon that Uraraka goes along very well with everyone in the class, so I had to write about that.
I should post another chapter sometime next week so I hope you'll be there :)
Love you all !
