Camp

A guest asked for a oneshot of a 10 year old Emma goes to summer camp paid by an organisation that supports foster children and the other children make fun of her for sleeping with a baby blanket.

Guest with the Henry thing: a) I believe the chapter is called "Teenage tantrum" b) this is because that is my main set of request. I do write Henry and Emma stories, they are just less requested.

Lola: …isn't Merlin a very old man? :P

BTW folks, there's something up with Fanfiction. Email alerts have gone wonky and I'm not getting some until hours after they're sent (I'm not even getting ones saying I've posted my chapters) so that might explain why some requests are not getting answered!

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. When Emma had been told by Norma her social worker that she had the opportunity to go to summer camp for the whole summer she had jumped at the chance. As had her current Foster parents, the Flores'. They had no time for Emma and she wouldn't be surprised if by the time camp was over she was being moved somewhere else.

She guessed the place itself wasn't so bad. All the staff were friendly, especially her councillor Anita, and she got fed three square meals a day which was better than normal for Emma. The activities were pretty great too- there was lots of arts and crafts, swimming and the place even had go-karts. But the five girls Emma shared a dorm with were out to make the whole summer miserable for Emma. Natalie, Yvonne, Rosa, Mercy and Christina took every opportunity they had to humiliate and belittle Emma, after lights out was no different. Emma had become so miserable that she'd snuck her blanket out from the bottom of her suitcase and under her pillow so she had it during the night. Unfortunately for Emma, Christina had spied it from across the room.

"Aww look, wittle Emma brought her baby blanket to camp!" She giggled. Emma quickly tried to hide the blanket, but Natalie (who was in the bunk above her) snatched it.

"Hey!" Emma yelled. "Give it back!"

"Calm down, baby, we're just looking." Natalie sneered. "Aww look, it even has her name stitched in it. Is that just in case you forget or you get lost, Emzy? Have you brought your Barbie doll with you too?" The whole room laughed cruelly as Emma's face heated up in embarrassment.

"Just give it back!" Emma yelled, snatching the blanket from Natalie and holding it close to her chest.

"Jeez, you're such a baby Emma, we were only teasing." Rosa snapped.

"Yeah, quite taking things so seriously. If you didn't want us to see the blanket you shouldn't have brought it with you." Yvonne added. But Emma didn't feel like this was funny at all. She got back into her bunk with her blanket pinned between her knees and faced the wall. She wished she'd just stayed at home.
