PTSD
Captainswan Fan I've already done an angel wings chapter, so I shall do your backup request of Emma having PTSD and having a panic attack after it not bothering her for years.
"So, explain it to me again?" Snow asked, staring at the laptop screen with a puzzled look. Emma smiled.
"I've done most of the work for you, don't worry. I've loaded your ITunes with all the CDs I could find in the house. Some of them were obviously homemade. I'm assuming dad's made you a few mixed tapes and they'll be your music as well, their names didn't show up so they're a bit of a mystery. All you need to do is double click a song with the left hand bit of the trackpad and it'll play." Emma reminded her. Snow smiled and moved the mouse pointer to one of the mystery songs.
"Well lets solve the mystery." She said, double clicking the song and waiting for it to play. She smiled across to her husband and he smiled back when The Smiths "How Soon Is Now" started to play. He knew she loved this song. But both their smiles soon faded when they saw Emma clamp her hands over her ears and screw her eyes shut. Her stomach dropped like a stone, her heart sped up tenfold, her palms became clammy and she felt like her head had been dunked underwater. She was right back there.
"Turn it off!" She begged. Snow immediately stopped the song before both she and Charming were either side of Emma.
"Emma, what's wrong?" Charming asked, alarmed, rubbing small circles on Emma's back. "The song's stopped, you're ok." Emma slowly managed to regain control of her breathing and get her heartrate back to normal.
"Well that hasn't happened in-well- years." Emma said quietly. She could see both her parents were waiting for an explanation. "There was one particularly bad Foster family I had as a child- the Diaz's. The dad, Yadriel, was a drunk. A drunk who loved The Smiths. They played constantly in that household and they became one of my triggers. Whenever I heard them after that I had a panic attack. I began to just avoid them, I'd been pretty successful until now." Emma explained. Snow couldn't help but feel this was her fault. She should have known that The Smiths upset her daughter.
"I'll get Henry to help me go through every single unnamed song and make sure there are none by The Smiths. Are there any other triggers I should know about?" Emma looked up at her.
"Well you're not going to call me a stupid puta that's full of caca are you?" She asked, deadpan. Snow and Charming's hearts broke. Snow took her daughter's face in her hands.
"Of course not, never." She promised her. "And nobody should ever had said that to you. You are a beautiful, smart, brave woman. You hear me Emma Swan?" Emma just looked at her mother, unsure how to answer. Charming kissed Emma's cheek.
"She's right. You are all of those things, Emma. Don't ever let that man make you feel different ever again." Again, Emma didn't answer. She appreciated their kind words greatly, but that didn't make them easy to believe.
