MPD
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma having multiple personality disorder and accidentally hurts someone when one of her darker side personas takes over.
Come on Emma. Let me out to have some fun. You've been taking your meds like a good little girl. You'll still be able to know what I'm doing. Emma shook her head forcefully, trying to rid herself of the voice. It had been years since they'd bothered her, but all the stress was bringing them back. But she had to remain in control. It could be worse Emzy, it could be little Maria who wanted out to play with her dollies. All I want to do is get some fresh air. It's crammed inside your head… Emma clamped her hands over her ears.
"Shut up Susan." She hissed.
"Emma, are you alright?" Red asked, coming over with Emma's order. The shock of someone speaking to her broke Emma's concentration, and Susan was able to come out fully. "Who were you talking to?" Susan looked up and smirked at Red.
"None of your bees wax wolfie." She spat. "Move along." Red raised an eyebrow as Snow and Charming came into the diner. They saw Red staring at Emma funnily and came over.
"Everything alright here?" Charming asked.
"Just fine." Susan replied. "Wolfie here can't mind her own is all."
"Emma all I asked is who were you talking too, someone clearly got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning…" Susan suddenly sprang up from the booth and shoved Red hard in the chest.
"Who do you think you're talking to, huh?" She snarled.
"Emma what as gotten into you?" Snow asked, horrified. This wasn't like her at all. Something about the voice snapped Emma back to reality, but she didn't know what was going on. But she had a feeling Susan was behind it.
"Red I'm so sorry. I wasn't myself…it's hard to explain." Emma stammered. She was totally mortified, and frightened about what would happen next. Susan wasn't her only alter ego. She fled the diner, with her parents chasing after her.
"Emma stop!" Charming said, grabbing her arm. "What do you mean it wasn't you?" He asked, knowing there was something more to what Emma was saying. Emma knew she had to explain in case another one popped up.
"I have multiple personality disorder- MPD." Emma told them. "I had this pretty awful set of Foster parents- the Romano's." Emma began to explain. "Well, it was only the parents who were the issue, Marisol and Julio. They had three kids of their own who despised them as much as me. Benito was a seventeen year old who thought he was tough as nails. He was in a gang and they went around terrorising the neighbourhood, but he looked after his own and that included me. I liked to fit in and the persona you just saw there, Susan, developed to fit in with Benito. They had a thirteen year old who I thought was really cool, Emiliano. He let me hang around with him and his friends and I never felt alone because of that. There's one called Patricia, but being a typical teen she hates her name and prefers Tricia or Trish. She developed to be with Emiliano and his friends. They also had a little girl who was younger than me, Aleida. She was such a sweet little girl, just loved playing quietly. Maria came along to fit in with her. When I was all the other people I didn't have to be Emma, I never had to have her memories. The kids all accepted me being called other names, it never bothered them. Eventually I got some therapy and some medication and they rarely came back once I left the Romano's. But when I'm stressed they sometimes pop up." Emma looked down, embarrassed. Surely her parents wouldn't be able to accept this. So, naturally, Emma was surprised to find herself enveloped in a group hug between them.
"Emma, thank you for trusting us enough to tell us." Charming told her. "We'll deal with whatever comes up- whoever these personalities are, they are all part of you, our daughter. You are not loved any less." He assured her.
"And if little Maria wants to come out for tea parties and have her hair in pigtails I'm certainly not going to complain." Snow said nonchalantly. Emma rolled her eyes, of course that was the bit her mom focused on!
