Nonono asked for a oneshot of Snow and Emma getting into a fight over Emma saying she can take care of herself. Emma then storms off to Granny's and has a heart to heart with Red.
"I do not need your constant supervision! I am not Neal!"
"I never claimed that you were! Excuse me for caring about my daughter's wellbeing!"
"This isn't just caring, this is going totally overboard!" Emma yelled before slamming the front door on her way out to cool off. She loved her mom dearly, but she could speak for herself and fight her own battles. Sometimes her mom forgot that. Like when the hospital called and Snow found out what they were inquiring about. Or when she told off Mr Burset the dentist for putting off Emma's appointment three times. Emma was perfectly capable of dealing with these kind of things herself, and she was sick and tired of her mom doing it for her.
On her walk to cool off, Emma became peckish and decided that a nice bear claw might take the edge off. She wandered around to Granny's and sat moodily at the counter.
"One bear claw and a coffee please." She grumbled to Red. Red smiled at her.
"Bad morning?" She asked, getting the pastry out of the display case.
"Yeah." Emma sighed, accepting her sugary breakfast.
"Well, why don't you get it off your chest?" Red offered, passing her the freshly brewed coffee.
"Oh it's nothing really." Emma grumbled. "Just mom and I butting horns. She can be a bit overbearing at times without meaning to be. She forgets that I'm an adult, I don't need her to do everything for me. I really need to get my own place…"
"Let's not be so hasty." Red said, knowing that Emma moving out would break both Snow and Charming's heart. "What sort of things is she butting in on?"
"Just lots of little things adding together. Like calling the dentist to complain about my lack of appointment, asking the nurse why they were wanting to speak to me and actually getting an answer. I'm not a baby."
"No," Red said, preparing herself for the backlash her next sentence would cause "but you're her baby." Emma groaned and mimed being sick. "Yeah I know, it's a little corny, but it's true. Give her a break, maybe give people your mobile number instead of the house number. You'll do these kind of things for Henry even when he's all grown up, works both ways toots." Emma rolled her eyes.
"Yeah well, I'm still going to let her strew for a while and enjoy my breakfast in peace." She grumbled. Red smiled and left her to it, just happy that she'd helped raise the white flag.
