AN: Hey guys! You may or may not have noticed that I have deleted TUALOL for multiple reasons. One: I feel that it will become a waste of space and two: I think it's not as detailed as my other stories, so I decided to create this little story instead. It is one that I was originally going to place in TUALOL, but since I'm scrapping that idea, I decided to write this one separately. By the way, this story is set before Painful Revelations in November, so just be sure of that.

Also, I thought it best to upload this story today because I'm busy tomorrow and Valentine's Day, so I hope you guys think it's convenient for me to do so.

Anyway, do you guys remember Caitlin? The girl who made Larry fall in love with her instantly? Well, she plays a major part in this short and I'm not quite sure what you guys will be predicting in the concept of the events, but anywho, find out in It Started With a Bang! Enjoy this Valentine's special! :))

I smiled. I smiled more broadly than I had ever smiled before. The sight that was currently in front of me was none other than beautiful. It may have only been a pitch black landscape at intervals, but in between those intervals, the sky was showered and filled with many bursts of different combinations of colours. My nose was pressed up against the cold, slightly wet glass of my bedroom window and I grinned as the material began to condense.

Tonight was going to be like no other night. It was November 5th. Bonfire night, one of my favourite events of the year, partly because it was two days after my birthday and partly because I loved standing on the ground all wrapped up warm with a lovely hot chocolate, watching the different colours exploding and creating stunning patterns and pictures against the black sky.

This year, there was going to be a fireworks display in Jesse and Jordan's village called Elderview and I was very (and when I say 'very', I mean extremely) excited to go. Not just because I wanted to see the pretty, colourful explosions in the sky and not because of the warm drinks and chocolate pops with sprinkles, but I wanted to see somebody who was very close to my heart. Somebody who filled my days with happiness and joy every day at school.

That somebody was none other than the beautiful Caitlin Moonstone. I had met her all the way back in summer by my favourite place in Quinstone and if I'm being perfectly honest, I wasn't sure if she loved me in the same way I loved her. We had become really close friends due to serendipitously meeting up with each other and spending time together. For example, on Caitlin's first day at Quinstone High, I offered to help her find her way to lessons, I had embarrassed myself in front of her and her mom when I was walking around a local store trying to find a gift for Ludwig's birthday, and I couldn't believe this would ever happen, but I ended up getting her number!

Other examples are that we both complimented each other's outfits for our last non-uniform day and at that very evening, our whole friend group went up to the school again for an amazing movie night. I remembered Halloween vividly and I remembered that in science class, there was a new seating plan and me and Caitlin were put together! For that whole lesson, we had both talked to each other without the feeling that everything was awkward, however, it was when I had made a joke about the teacher, when I caused Caitlin to giggle.

Also, I stated that I wasn't really a big fan of Halloween because it was the fact that my nation was supposed to love Halloween, but I had lived in Britain (where people didn't really celebrate it) for so long that I had grown to not like it much and Caitlin had given me a look that conveyed that she was hanging onto my every word and she had sort of stuttered while talking to me. Could that have meant…? No, seriously, it couldn't, but my mind changed when my birthday came around because she sent me a happy birthday GIF and man, was I overjoyed. I had said thank you to her and the next thing I knew, we were having a full on conversation that I wished we would never break away from.

Over the last two days, I'd been thinking really hard about what would happen at the fireworks display. Me and Caitlin would meet up with each other there, we would watch some fireworks for a bit, and after some time, I would confess my love to her and possibly, just possibly, she could say she loved me back. I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen, whether it was good or bad, but I was quite excited even so. If Caitlin said no, then surely we would still stay as really close friends. Wow, I had it all planned out in my head.

Despite thinking about this, I still wasn't really sure. What if Caitlin wasn't going to be there and what if it turned out to be nothing but a massive waste of time? Actually, it wasn't going to be a waste of time because like I said earlier, I loved fireworks and the bursts of vibrant colours against the night sky and even if rejection caused me to be down in the dumps, seeing that beautiful sight and being with my family would cheer me up.

"Larry!" I heard Iggy call up the stairs. "Are you ready to go?"

I jerked up instantly and sprang down from the windowsill. "Yeah!" I shouted excitedly. "I'm coming!"

I ran downstairs as quickly but nimbly as I could and into the kitchen where my siblings were packing bags together, ready to go, but what I thought was weird was that Wendy was stuffing sticks of lip gloss in her pockets.

"What's with all the lip gloss?" I asked.

Wendy smiled. "Do you seriously think I don't need this for going out? It's freezing out there and my lips will get dry."

"Oh yeah." I said after some hesitation, but after a couple seconds, Wendy suddenly inhaled.

"Larry, are you wearing aftershave?" she asked, pulling me towards her and sniffing close to my neck. "Yeah, that's definitely you."

Iggy turned around from packing his bag and gave me a look that yelled suspicion. "What's been going on with you recently? You've been washing your face and brushing your teeth extra well before school and you're constantly checking your phone for messages. Are you trying to impress someone?"

"No!" I replied instantly, but perhaps with a little too much emphasis.

Iggy carried on with his annoying and pushy gaze, which eventually made me sigh in defeat. "Fine… You know that girl I told you about, Caitlin?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, I think there's a fifty-fifty chance that she could be in Elderview and…I really love her so…I wanted to impress her during our night out and I could maybe ask her if she wanted to be my girlfriend."

I bit my lip and whilst I cringed at Iggy and Wendy's surprised facial expressions, my eyes moved down to Lemmy, whose eyes were shining like two bright stars and he was smiling in a way which I didn't know whether to describe as complimentary or creepy.

"What?" I asked.

"N-Nothing, it's just that if she says yes, I'll be very happy for you." Lemmy replied. "I'd also love the thought of being a brother-in-law."

"Woah!" Iggy exclaimed. "Don't start thinking about that just yet. Larry hasn't even reached puberty."

"Thanks." I said sardonically and I walked towards the front door. "Now come on, let's go!"

I opened the car door with my heart in my head. Yes! Now I was finally here! Letting out an excited breath, I jumped out of the car and slammed the door shut in sheer cheerfulness. After I turned around, I stared around at all the dim landscapes which caused my heartbeat to increase and my mouth widen in joy. I had no trouble whatsoever with trying to make out anything because there was a beautiful entrance that had been built which led into a huge, open grass field where all the fireworks were going to be set off.

It was a wooden, rectangular arch that had tons of warm white lights snaking around them in a sort of spiral effect. I had been actually quite uncomfortable, what with the cold of November nipping away at the tips of my fingers and cheeks, but upon seeing those lights, a warm and reassuring feeling welled up in my heart. Also, there was an A frame standing by the lights and the words: 'ELDERVIEW FIREWORKS DISPLAY' were embroidered on it in luminous felt tip pen and it had little firework doodles around the words to make it look more inviting, which was fortunate because it had that very effect on me.

I eventually broke away from my siblings, deciding that I wanted to have some time to browse the place by myself and see what food and drink there was to offer, and there was. I came across a table with lots of paper plates dotted around it like paint splodges and I was delighted to see that there were chocolate pops and some hot chocolate, exactly how it was last year. I bought one of each of what was there and I walked away, munching on my chocolate pop and, at the time, looking around and trying to locate Caitlin.

Unfortunately, she was nowhere to be seen and for a moment, I began to wonder whether she was even there at all. Oh… Was this a massive waste of time like I had thought before? Maybe. However, I wasn't going to let that bother me. I still had quite a bit of cash on me, so I could still buy a lot more food and drink and the fireworks would still light up my spirits, so, sighing, I placed my pop stick in the trash and stood in a massive crowd of people, waiting for the fireworks to start.

However, it was when I had been standing there for a few minutes when I suddenly felt someone tap me on the shoulder. It made me jump and I turned around. At that moment, my heart filled with happiness and a little bit of desire, for it was the girl I had been looking for all this time and it was impossible for me to not recognise her wild, curly, mouse coloured hair and her cute posture.

"Caitlin! Hi!" I exclaimed.

"Hey Larry, I'm glad I found you." she smiled.

I was still stunned that Caitlin had come to see me so unexpectedly, but now that she had said that to me, it made my stomach tighten, not in fear, but in love and joy.

"Nobody I know is here." Caitlin said. "So…I was wondering if you would want to walk around with me."

"Of course!" I replied within an instant. "I'd love to!"

Caitlin smiled warmly and we were both just about to leave when we heard feedback from a megaphone and then a man shouting into it.

"Attention, everybody!" he shouted. "The fireworks will start in thirty seconds' time, so if you want to do the ten second countdown with us, be ready!"

There were a few seconds of silence and during that silence, I wondered where my siblings were at this point. A little bit of me felt happy to be with Caitlin, but at the same time, I felt a bit uncomfortable that I hadn't seen my siblings for half of the duration that I had been here. Nevertheless, I was wired to find out what was going to happen next. Suddenly, the man shouted into the megaphone again.

"Okay! Fifteen seconds until the countdown! Hope you're all ready!"

The countdown started, each second making me feel like they were dragging on and on. Eventually, it ended and we both heard lots of bangs go off at once, multicoloured rockets shooting up and finally, the fireworks exploded like grenades in the night sky. I gazed at them, but then decided to look at Caitlin and talk about how pretty they looked, but she didn't look back at me. Instead, she stared up at the sky, mesmerised at all those colours. Her mouth hung open and she batted her eyelashes as the fireworks reflecting in her eyes made her shine like the brightest star in the sky. Wow. This girl… I couldn't contain myself any longer.

"Caitlin." I said.

"Yeah?"

"Can you…talk with me somewhere private for a sec?"

For a moment, Caitlin looked alarmed, but a split second later, she said, "Sure." in a voice that showed she was all right now.

As we strolled away to a dark and dingy part of the field, tons of worries went round and round in my head. Oh, please tell me she's okay with what I'm about to say to her! Please! After some time, we reached that space and Caitlin looked at me, showing me that she was anticipating something happy or enjoyable to come floating out of my mouth.

"Look, I-I think that you're the kindest, sweetest, coolest, most beautiful girl I've ever met." I began. "We've spent quite a lot of time together in school and those times…have been some of the happiest in my life. I love your smile, I love the way you dress, I love everything about you, so…I was wondering…if you wanted to be my girlfriend?"

Caitlin was silent for a very long time as she gawked at me, which made my stomach twist because it gave me the impression that she wasn't expecting that at all and she didn't like it.

I swallowed a lump. "Um, well…that's if…you really don't want-" but before I could say more, Caitlin stepped forward and wrapped her arms around me. My heart almost stopped as she tightened her grip and giggled. "Woah…for real?" I asked, astonished.

Caitlin broke away from me, looked me in the eyes and smiled. "I'm not sure if you realised, but I absolutely adore you. You're smart, funny, helpful, and you've got…such beautiful blue eyes. I feel like I could swim in them…"

I chuckled. "Probably not so popular with that first one, but thank you so much. D-Do you want a kiss?"

Caitlin giggled. "Why bother asking?" she laughed and she planted her lips onto mine.

We both wrapped our arms around each other and basked in each other's love and desire. Never, during that moment, did I feel any sense of awkwardness wipe over me because I trusted Caitlin not to laugh at anything I did and it seemed that Caitlin now trusted me with the same thing. I giggled as her hands travelled up to my face, her hair tickled my neck and her perfume filled me up with appreciation and admiration.

All of a sudden, I heard the fizzing of a rocket, then the whistle of it flying through the sky at great speed, then a fascinating blast of colour met with my eyes, even though they were closed. This firework had to be the biggest out of all of them, which made me feel honoured because maybe it was symbolising the merging of me and my new girlfriend.

We broke away from each other at last and we stared into each other's eyes. Neither of us provided words to communicate because we already knew our emotions just by our body languages and eyes. Oh…they were such pretty eyes if I had ever seen some. They filled me up with a feeling that made me more adored than ever before.

She really was the one.
