Strange new world- part 2

A guest asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch317 "Strange new world" where Snowing find a place to live and figure out modern technology and are particularly amazed by the toaster.

"I still don't like that radio." Snow said, shuddering. "It's creepy! I mean, its voices and you can't even see the person. It's worse than the magic box."

"Well Emma seems to like the magic voice, especially when that show Mrs Balik next door appears. I don't see the appeal in it. I mean, what's so appealing about a moving drawing of a Scottish duck in a top hat?"

"Well whatever it is, this little lady does sure love it, don't you Emzy?" Snow cooed, rubbing her nose against Emma's delighting in the little giggle she gave. It hadn't been easy adapting to this strange new world, but they were getting there. Snow found out quickly that Snow White was a funny name here, apparently she and Charming were works of someone else's imagination here. Snow remembered the two names she had given as an alias to Red and Mary Margaret seemed to be an acceptable name, although David seemed to be normal here too. The Doctor who delivered Emma's name was Doctor Nolan. Fortunately it seemed to be a common enough name that it wasn't suspicious for the family to also have the surname Nolan. A letter had arrived for them suspiciously whilst they were still in the hospital after Emma's birth (a traumatising enough experience. It was too much technology at once). Inside contained the details to lead them to a man who could provide them with the paperwork they needed to survive in this world and the money they'd need to pay him.

Once they had their paperwork sorted it wasn't hard to get themselves a small apartment and Charming managed to get himself a job as a tree surgeon.

Now here they were six months later, adapting as best they could. All the while still trying to find their friends.

"Hey, what do you say we have some toast for supper?" Charming asked. Snow grinned over to him.

"I think that sounds wonderful." She replied. Charming restrained himself from doing a mini fist pump. Both he and Snow had found the toaster frightening at first, until Mrs Kubrik had shown them how it worked. She had been a fabulous neighbour to the family, showing them all the things they needed to survive here. Back home toast had to be made over an open fire and turned frequently. Here they just pushed the small lever and up it popped a couple of minutes later, ready to be eaten. They did love all the things this world had to offer, but they still missed their friends, they still missed home. They hoped they'd find them quickly and be able to take Emma back to where she belonged. Back to where they could give her the princess lifestyle they had always wanted her to have. Even if the Enchanted Forest didn't have disposable nappies.
