Breakdown
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma having a mental breakdown after finding out she killed Cruella even though she couldn't kill Henry. She won't do anything for herself and holes herself up in her room. Whale thinks Snowing can't handle caring for Emma in this states and suggests the psychiatric ward.
"No." Charming said firmly, his hands balling into fists in fury. How could Whale even suggest such a thing? "Emma is fine at home?"
"But is she?" Whale questioned him. "You both have told me that Emma isn't coping. That's she's not left her room in three days and it's been a battle to so much as get her to sip water. Emma is suffering from extreme guilt and her brain has shut down, unable to cope with it. All I am saying is perhaps trained professionals are better off helping Emma get back on her feet…"
"And all we're saying is that Emma is better off nowhere than with us, her parents." Snow counted him, placing a calming hand on Charming's chest before he knocked Whale for six. "All we want from you is some advice on how to help. Are you going to help us or do we go to Jiminy?"
"I have given you my advice." Whale sighed. "I can do no more."
"Well then," Charming said getting up. "Thanks for nothing, Doc. Jiminy it is."
Snow and Charming were not simply washing their hands of Emma. They would help her from her own home. The couple headed straight from the hospital to Jiminy's apartment and explained the situation to him.
"Can you help us Jiminy?" Charming pleaded. "We just want Emma back." Jiminy took his glasses off and cleaned them thoughtfully for a moment.
"I can help." He answered, his mind taken back to when he accidentally killed Geppetto's parents.
"Please help us." Donna had pleaded.
"You're our only hope." Stephen had added. Jiminy had thought he was helping them. But he had killed them. His own parents had tricked them, and they didn't care at all.
"Don't be silly son." His mother, Myrna had laughed.
"You know you belong with us. Now get over this silly tantrum and get in the cart." His father, Martin had added. Jiminy hung his head and like a coward carried on with them. Knowing the guilt would eat him alive…but then the Blue Fairy gave him an out. He became the cricket and helped the boy.
"Emma needs to find a way to resolve her own guilt." He answered them. "Help her think of a way to make up for Cruella's death. Remind her that she was defending her innocent son. Remind her that Cruella pushed her. It will be a slow process, but I am confident it is one you can handle without further help from me." Jiminy answered them. Charming reached forward and shook his hand.
"Thank you, Jiminy." He said. "We'll get started on that right away." Snow hugged their old friend and then the couple left, ready for a fresh attempt to bring back their daughter.
