My name is Delia prior . My parent are both the leaders of the abnegation : Andrew and Natalia prior . I have two sisters and a brother whose names are : beatrice , Caleb and Maria prior .

I am 16 years old today but I can't celebrate birthday because it will be self indulgent . Also the two days after today will be the most important day for me : the choosing ceremony. The ceremony will allow me to relocated myself . I can either stay in my born faction or leave it behind .

However if I leave abnegation , then that mean I forsake my family permanently. That is because we believe in faction before blood . Faction is even more important than our life , our family. Can that possibly be true ? I don't know .

"Delia , come downstair and cut your hair ." Ted is calling me

Ted is my body guard from dauntless when my mom was pregnant with my sisters and brother .

"I am coming." I open the door and sneak out the room,

I rush down the stair and mom is already there standing in front of the mirror . She is so pretty but she has to hide her beauty in abnegation.

"Sit down please ." Mom smiles at me

I sit down in front of the mirror . Today is also the second day of every third month that mom can cut my hair and I can look at myself in the mirror

I change a lot after three month and I resemble my mom more .

"So are you nervous for tomorrow's test?" Mom asks me

"No, the test doesn't need to change our choice ." I shake my head .

"Tonight we have to go to dauntless for the annual party." Mom sighs . "What are you planning for the morning?"

I am going to erudite but I don't know will my dad get angry with me ? Because he doesn't like erudite

"I will go erudite . Jason coulter is elected as a new leader so I will go celebrate with him." I say. "I will ask beatrice and Maria whether they want to go or not."

"Okay, be careful of Jeanine Matthew okay? She is a dangerous woman." Mom is worried . "Don't tell her anything."

I know that Jeanine Matthew is the youngest ambassador of erudite and she is so smart that she can do anything.

"Yes mom , I know it."

After mom finishes cutting my hair , she closes the mirror . I stand up.

"Thanks for cutting my hair ."

We get downstair and dad is sitting there reading newspaper . Beatrice and Maria are laughing with ted

"I am going to erudite to see my friend today. Do you guys want to come ?" I ask

"Yes sister , we want to go." Maria claps her hand .

"Why you guys like to go to erudite . Dad doesn't like them." Caleb complains .

Dad looks at me and Caleb . He doesn't like Caleb saying this

"That is my personal hatred . It isn't toward delia's friends . That is personal so don't use me as a shield." Dad closes the newspaper .

Caleb serves everyone the breakfast. Ted doesn't seem hungry.

"Do you want me to go with you guys ?" Ted asks

"You should get back to dauntless today. Max has a meeting with you to assign you a new job." I smile at him. "You need a better job."

"I can stay with you unless you transferred to dauntless." Ted sighs ." I like the family."

I know the reason why he wants to stay is because he likes me but I don't.

"No Ted , I am way old enough to stay on my own." I shake my head . "So please ."

After breakfast, I take Maria and beatrice with me . Ted doesn't follow us anymore .

"Did you just hurt ted?" Maria asks . "He seems sad."

"Sister is doing a right thing. Ted should have a better life ." Beatrice smiles at me

She understands me because she is old enough.

"Yes that's right. One day you will understand ." I kiss both of them.

We get to the bus station . We let other people to take the bus first and then we get on. There are no seat so we stand beside a Candor man. Candor man wears the black and white suit because they see truth as black and white.

I stand silently without talking. Beatrice and Maria grabs my shirt to steady them self .

"Oh three stiffs . Are you guys sisters ?" A Candor boy smirks at us

I recognize him as Peter Hayes from Candor . He is just a jerk. I ignore him so he stands up.

"I am talking to you guys . So rude ." He screams

"We are abnegation but we aren't amity." I smirk at him.

I grab Maria and beatrice's hand and get off the bus . We are at erudite headquarter now . Jason must work in the library which is the main building in the centre .

I walk to the tallest building in the centre and when we walk in, we stopped by the soldier .

"It's fine . She is my friend." Jason waves at me . "Come Delia ."

"Hello Jason, congratulation." I say

"I am so happy that you guys can come . Hello beatrice and Maria ." Jason touches their head . "Welcome to erudite . Want to take a walk?"

We start to take a tour in the compound . I look around . People are working silently . They are doing the experiment and developing new technologies

"What are the new project," I point at a table top.

"I have no ideas . Jeanine is doing it and we put our jobs very separately." Jason shrugs .

"Where is Eric ?" I raise my eyebrows

Eric has a girlfriend whose name is Abby. I often see them around in school but recently I haven't seen them.

"I think that he is with Abby." Jason pushes his glasses up a bit. "I can bring you to see them."

He walks us upstair and when he opens the room, a vase just flying toward us .

"Be careful!" The soldier stops the vase to hit us .

Abby and Eric are fighting. Jason is super pissed

"Stop it Eric , what are you doing!" Jason screams. "Did you want to hurt Abby?"

"We were just fighting. I am sorry. Oh Delia ." Eric lowers his head . "I am really sorry."

"What just happened?" I look at Abby. "Is there anything wrong?"

Abby is crying. She is scared Eric wasn't this angry before

"He nearly hit me ." Abby is crying. " this isn't a small fight Eric ."

"I am sorry Abby." Eric sighs . "I don't know what's wrong with me ."

"We are over ." Abby points at Eric . "Me and you are over ."

At night, I go to dauntless with my family together . Everyone will dress up tonight but not us . Maria and beatrice seemed happy because they are still young.

"You guys are so happy." Caleb says coldly.

"Ww haven't go to any party recently. " Maria rolls her eyes

When we get to dauntless headquarter , mom leads us into the compound . Why mom knows here so well. The only explanation can be that she is ambassador of abnegation so she frequently visiting other factions or she was dauntless

"So how do you know dauntless headquarter so well." Dad doesn't seem happy.

"I came here often . I had a friend here ." Mom sighs . "Her name is Hana ."

Hana is the ambassador for dauntless and she has two son: Zeke and Uriah pedrad .

"She lost her husband when she was young right?" I say

"Don't remind her that, she is still sad about it." Mom shakes her head

We walk toward the cafeteria and when we are there , people are crowded inside .

"So many people." Caleb doesn't like it. "I don't like it."

"You have to tolerate this ." Dad grabs Caleb's arm.

"Yeah dad , I know it." Caleb pulls his arms away from dad

Finally we get into the room . We pass people quickly and quietly. We sit down in front of a table . Dad and mom go say hello to the leaders now .

"Hello, are you guys hungry?" A man is approaching us

"A little ." I smile at him.

"I am Alan Davis . The lieutenant of dauntless ." He smiles back at me . "Here is hamburger and chocolate cake . Oh I forget that you guys never have hamburger before ."

He starts to introduce us how to make hamburger . He is so gentle . After he leaves , I look at his back.

"He is so fake ." A boy sits beside us. "His name is Alan Davis . He is the most devil man in dauntless."

"Why did you say this kind of thing about him? He is nice ." I argue

"I am from dauntless and I have seen him beating up someone like crap." The boy rolls his eyes . "My name is Edward ."

Edward stands up and leaves. Is Alan Davis really this kind of man? I can't see him based on other people's perspective . After the party, we leave . When I turn around , Alan Davis is standing above the chasm.

Is he lonely? Is he sad? I don't know . However I need to find out more about this man. The only choice is that I have to come to dauntless

I like him so instantly but I don't know how long that like can continue .

"What are you thinking." Dad shakes my shoulder. "Don't ever think to come here for that asshole."

"Dad be respectful." I push him away

I don't want to stay with my dad anymore . Alan Davis is not an asshole .

"Delia , calm down." Mom grabs my hand . "He isn't asshole . I know it but your dad hates dauntless in general.if you don't want to stay here , then please leave ."

"Mom I am sorry." I feel so bad . "I shouldn't overreact."
