The group was exploring the town when something caught their attention
"woah there's a big Pokemon battle happening and it's happening right here in town!" Ash said "we should go see it!"
Serena noticed one of the trainers
"wait, is that?" Serena asked
" It is! Diantha is doing an exhibition battle!" Serena said "and professor sycamore is also participating! It's gonna be a multi battle!"
"wow!" Bonnie said
"who's diantha?" Ash asked with Linc and Lily looking confused
"How could you not know who she is!?" Serena asked
"she's the strongest trainer in kalos that's who!" Clemont said
"she's the champion!" Bonnie said
"Really? No kidding?! Diantha the champion, huh? I'm psyched!" Ash said
"Not only is Diantha the champion she also happens to be a world-famous movie star!" Serena continued
then clemont noticed something
"hey people can sign up for a chance to be the challenger's teammate-" clemont began before Linc ran off to sign up with Mangey following him "and he's gone."
"we better follow his lead." Ash said
with Linc
after signing up Linc waited for the results
"and the winner is... Linc!" The contest announcer said
Linc stepped up
"right this way sir." The contest announcer said leading him and Mangey to a room
in there was a blonde girl and a white haired boy
"oh hi! Are you my teammate?" The girl asked
Linc nodded
"well I'm Leni loud and this is my baby boy Enzo!" Leni introduced herself and the white haired boy
"mama I told you to call me the collector in public!" Enzo said embarrassed at his adoptive mother's naming
"I'm sorry but it's so cute!" Leni said
"Linc." Linc said normally while pointing at himself before pointing at Mangey "Mangey."
enzo immediately flew over to Mangey
"you look fun! Wanna play?" Enzo asked
Mangey nodded
"ok let's play... battle!" Enzo said as he sent out his delta pidgey
Mangey responded by sending out his delta roserade
Linc pulled out his cane
"when and how?" Linc asked scaring Leni a bit with his static voice
"rock." Mangey said
"that doesn't answer anything." Linc said
"actually it does." A female voice said
they looked over and saw diantha
"your buddy probably found a shiny stone." Diantha said "which makes roseila evolve into roserade."
"ok?" Linc said
then ash, clemont, Bonnie, Serena, Lily and professor sycamore walked in
"wow a new delta!" Professor sycamore said
"delta?" Linc questioned
"it's what we're calling these new forms of pokemon." Leni explained
"it's actually the reason this battle is happening to test the power of delta's and mega evolution." Professor sycamore said
this made Linc more excited
"thank you collector for lending me your keystone for the battle." Professor said to Enzo
"keystone?" Ash asked
"You see the keystone is crucial for a Pokemon to mega evolve. The stone a trainer possesses is called a keystone. And the stone of Pokemon possesses is called a mega stone." Professor sycamore explained
"ok I think I get it." Ash said
later
it was time for the battle
"here we have an exciting match today champion diantha and professor sycamore up against his assistant and an unknown trainer who goes by the name Linc let's see what they can do!" The announcer said
"do be useful." Linc said to Leni "and don't get in my way."
"right! Venusaur!" Leni said sending out her delta venusaur
"what an odd looking venusaur!" The announcer said as people began to talk in the audience
"gardevoir!" Diantha said sending out her gardevoir
"garchomp!" Professor sycamore said sending out his garchomp
"charizard show everyone your strength." Linc said sending out his delta charizard
"woah! That charizard is definitely different!" The announcer said as people began talking in the audience even more than before
"battle begin!" The referee said
"gardevoir use psychic on charizard!" Diantha said
gardevoir tried to lift charizard but charizard let out a roar and shattered gardevoir's hold
"venusaur use moonblast on garchomp!" Leni said
venusaur fired a pink blast at garchomp dealing massive amounts of damage
"garchomp iron head on venusaur!" Professor sycamore said
garchomp's head shined before head butting venusaur
"charizard shadow ball on gardevoir." Linc said
charizard fired the attack at gardevoir but gardevoir teleported out of the way
but the ball turned right around and nailed gardevoir in the back
"crafty move." Diantha said "now then gardevoir time for mega evolution!"
"garchomp you too!" Professor sycamore said
they both pulled out keystones
both Pokemon transformed into their mega forms
"venusaur time to mega evolve!" Leni said pulling out her keystone
venusaur transformed into her mega form
"I couldn't agree more." Linc said pulling out his key stone to the shock of everyone
the moment charizard mega evolved an energy blast was shot into the sky causing the entire arena to be covered in darkness
"what the?!?" Ash said trying to look for team rocket because this is something they would do
"charizard shadow ball." Linc said
"gardevoir moonblast!" Diantha said
both fired their attacks however the shadow ball easily overpowered the moonblast
"what?!" Diantha said
"venusaur moonblast on garchomp!" Leni said
venusaur fired the blast which connected but it seemed to do less damage than before
"it seems this darkness weakens fairy type attacks similar to water type attacks in the sun." Professor sycamore said
"gardevoir shadow ball on venusaur!" Diantha said
gardevoir fired the attack at venusaur which connected and knocked it out
"it's charizard vs gardevoir and garchomp!" The announcer said
"charizard dragon pulse on garchomp." Linc said
charizard fired a dragon shaped beam at garchomp which knocked it out
"and it's gardevoir vs charizard who's gonna win this?" The announcer asked
"gardevoir shadow ball!" Diantha said
"charizard use shadow ball as well!" Linc said
both pokemon began to charge their attacks but charizard took it a step further
charizard absorbed all of the darkness from the sky and put it in the shadow ball
both attacks were fired and it looked even then charizard let out a roar as his shadow ball overpowered gardevoir's and hit gardevoir knocking it out
"I-I can't believe it Linc beat diantha!" The announcer said as the crowd went wild
Leni and Linc went up and shook their opponents hands
later
Linc and Leni were watching Enzo and Mangey's battle as ash and group went to get some cake while professor sycamore explained delta Pokemon to the public
"so Linc why do you talk through that cane?" Leni asked
Linc said something without the cane confusing Leni
"can like you not talk without it?" Leni asked
Linc did a "so-so" gesture with his hand
they watched as Mangey's roserade knocked out Enzo's pidgey
"so how did you get your delta Pokémon?" Leni asked
Linc shrugged
(why does he seem so familiar?) Leni thought to herself
"hey mama I wanna go explore!" Enzo said to Leni
"alright Enzo let's go explore." Leni said before turning to Linc "do you and Mangey want to come with?"
Linc and Mangey nodded
later
they ended up in an extremely foggy place
then Linc smelled something
team rocket
he grabbed his knife and threw it in the air
a few seconds later they heard a pop and somethings fell in front of them
"hey what the?!?" Meowth said before noticing Linc picking up his knife "how did you do that?!?"
Linc pointed to his nose
"HACKS I CALL HACKS!!" James said
"doesn't matter go-" Jessie began before Enzo punched a hole clean through the metal cage they had
"oh." James said
then diantha's gardevoir burst out of the cage
then ash and the rest of the group professor sycamore and diantha showed up
"woah!" Ash said
"gardevoir use psychic!" Diantha said
gardevoir lifted team rocket up and sent them flying
"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKETS BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" Team rocket said
"I would like to thank you for your help." Diantha said
"your welcome!" Enzo said
and with that they parted ways
though Lily couldn't stop thinking about how familiar Leni was
(where have I seen her before?) Lily thought to herself
and that's that
as for why Linc didn't get any sort of feelings of familiarity like Leni and Lily it is because Linc's memory is way worse
he got hit with a sledgehammer then went through a portal which in Pokémon 9 times out of 10 causes memory loss
Lily can't put names to faces but that's about it
and Leni just doesn't recognize them because of how different they look
