Scouts
bluerose921 asked for a oneshot of Emma and someone else going out for the day with someone else. They both have a bad sense of direction and get lost.
"This is all your fault." Henry grumbled, turning the map every which way in the hopes it would suddenly twig in his mind which was the right way up. "You insisted we be adventurous and go off the path. You know in some places it says children must be accompanied by a responsible adult? You're the reason it doesn't just say adult."
"Oh alright moody pants give it here." Emma snapped, snatching the map off of her son and turning it three hundred and sixty degrees herself. She had as much as he had. Henry had only brought the map because he was working on his navigator badge for Boy Scouts.
"I was just trying to help you be a better navigator so you properly earned your badge. Didn't you get the same one when you were in Cubs? Be grateful I'm still with you. Knowing your other mom she probably just sent you off into the woods with a compass and told you to be back for dinner." Emma grumbled.
"Didn't you do something similar in Brownies or Girl Guides?" Henry asked, ignoring her rude remarks. "Or even geography in school? Can't you read a map?" Emma raised her eyebrow at her son.
"I grew up in the system, kid. Not many opportunities for clubs and organisations. I was more of a history kid. I rely on satnav. Which if your stupid leader had allowed phones on the excavation would mean we'd be home by now."
"Don't blame Maury, he told us to stick to the path when he done it." Henry chirped.
"Suck up." Emma muttered under her breath. "Come on, I think it's this way. Or south-east if we wish to appease Maury." Emma said, voice dripping with sarcasm.
It took them nearly two hours, but the now dishevelled, ravenous and exhausted pair eventually made it back onto the marked path which led them back to Emma's bug.
"Next time, do an easier badge kid. Like the photographer activity badge."
"Deal." Henry said, gulping down his water (he'd accidentally left it in the car). They just hoped it was something decent for dinner.
