Growing up sucks
Cara asked for a oneshot of a teenaged Emma telling her mom that she hates her in the heat of the moment and Snow's reaction to hearing that for the first time. I've combined this with OnceUponAStudent's request of Emma giving her parents the silent treatment for not letting her have enough free time.
Emma was positively seething inside. This was the third time in a row her parents had said no to her going to visit Princess Alexandria in her castle for a break away. They just kept saying she had lessons to complete- both academic and etiquette. They said now that she was getting older she had to realise the responsibilities that came with being a member of royalty. That one day she would rule the kingdom and she had to be ready. Emma was sick of this. She just wanted some time to herself! It seemed like that was a precious commodity these days. Well Emma had finally had enough. She had decided that she wasn't talking to either of her parents until they remembered she wasn't just a princess- she was a person. It took until dinner for her parents to either comment on or notice (Emma wasn't sure which) that she wasn't speaking to them.
"Come on Emma, spit it out." Charming said, ladling some soup into his bowl. "Why the cold shoulder this time?" Emma didn't respond, not wanting to ruin the effect. "Fine, don't say a word. You can just sit in the dining room until you're ready to pipe up.
"Fine." Emma hissed. "I am sick and fed up of only being allowed to do things for myself if I write in and give three months' notice. Even then it's not guaranteed!"
"Emma, don't you think you're overreacting a touch?" Snow sighed. "You're getting older and that means…"
"More responsibilities I know!" Emma yelled. Snow's eyes narrowed.
"Do not yell at us." She warned. Emma stood up appruptly.
"You don't actually care about how I feel, either of you. You don't care about the amount of pressure this is all putting on me! You only care about your stupid kingdom! I hate you! Both of you!" Emma stormed out of the dining room. Charming went to follow after her, but Snow caught his hand and shook her head. There was no point, it would only make things worse.
I can already say this one will not be getting a sequel as it was requested that there not be a totally tied together ending :).
