Far too dangerous
Happy asked for a oneshot of Emma repeatedly coming home late for a week so Charming confronts her and asks what she's up to. Emma tries to lie to get off easy but Charming follows her and finds out she's stalking a very bad villain. I hope you don't mind me playing about with what you mean by villain. Trigger warning minimal mentions on the theme of rape.
Yang is Bae: I'm afraid I don't know anything much about parkour/free running, nor have I ever played Assassin's Creed :S
Guest who asked for Emma inheriting the skill to talk to birds: I'm afraid this has already been covered.
Wow! Cannot believe I am only fifty chapters away from one thousand! You guys rock! If anyone has any special ideas for what I could do for my big 1000 lemme know! :D
"That is this whole week now you've come home three hours after your shift ended." Emma jumped, only just now catching her dad leaning against the banister.
"Jeez dad, stalker much?" Emma grumbled.
"Concerned parent." He countered. "Emma, there's something going on that you're not telling me. What is it?"
"I've just been spending time with Henry…"
"Except he had badminton two out of the five days, he called me on Tuesday because he'd forgotten to pack his racquet and couldn't get hold of you. Also, today he's at a sleepover at Tyler Burley's house." Emma huffed, what was he now a private detective?!
"Oh alright fine. I didn't think you'd like that I was having some private time with Killian. It's not exactly easy to come by in this house…" Charming resisted the strong urge to gag, shaking his head to clear away the mental image.
"Yes, you're right I wouldn't like that if it were true, but it isn't. I called Killian yesterday to ask if you'd been over there and he said you'd told him you wanted quality time with us this week. What's going on Em?" Dammit he was too good.
"Ok alright Poirot, you've got me. I'll only tell you why I've really been disappearing if you promise not to get mad." Charming sighed. She'd only make him promise that if there's was a justifiable reason for him getting mad. But in order to make sure she was kept safe, he had to know.
"I've been trailing Mike Foster…"
"Mike Foster?!" Charming exclaimed. "The rapist we've been trying to pin down for months? Emma what were you thinking? Do you even realise how dangerous it was for you to go out there alone…"
"You promised not to get mad." Emma reminded him.
"I'm not mad, I'm horrified." Charming said, making an effort to keep his voice calm to stay true to his word.
"I just thought if I trailed him alone without him noticing we'd catch him. I didn't tell you because I knew you'd be against the plan…"
"Damn right I am. This stops now, you hear? Emma that man is dangerous. Who knows what he might have done if he'd have seen you sitting there alone in your car…"
"I can take care of myself." She said huffily. She didn't like anyone, even her dad, thinking she was in any way weak.
"I'm well aware of that Emma, but Mike is a scumbag and he's tricky. No, this does not happen again. If you are home any later than twenty minutes after your shift ends unless you have a credible witness to tell me you're with them doing something sensible I'm coming to get you myself. Is that clear?"
"But dad I'm this close to catching him." Emma said, pouting.
"And it is not worth the risk of you getting hurt in the process. I will catch Foster. Do you think I want scum like that on the street with you and your mother walking around? No, he's going down for this Emma. But not by you risking yourself. I want your word that you won't be so foolish again." Emma opened her mouth to argue, but the stern look she was met with stopped her in her tracks.
"Fine." She grumbled. "I won't go after him solo again."
"Good." Charming said, sounding relieved. He pulled Emma over to him and wrapped his arms around her protectively. He made a commitment the day he put her through the wardrobe that he would always do everything in his power to keep her safe until his last breath. He was nowhere near done fulfilling that promise.
