Not a good time

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snowing and little Emma in a quiet place with lots of people around watching or listening to something serious. Emma whispers to her mom that she wants ni-mis but Snow tells her to wait until later. Emma insists and Snow tries to ignore her which ends up making Emma shout it out loud in frustration pulling at her mommy causing everyone to stare at the family.

Knighthoods were an honour to be bestowed upon only the most worthy of candidates, but the actual knighthood service in the cathedral was one of the most boring events of the year. Before Snow and Charming officially knighted the new knights to serve their kingdom, the priest would go through an initiation service with them all, where some parts had to be done individually. So many of the villagers turned up despite it being tediously boring that even the grand cathedral was packed out. Snow and Charming sat behind the priest and the candidates with Emma on Snow's lap, trying their very best not to look as bored as they felt. Emma was doing so well for only being just over a year old, she seemed to be content with the little cloth dolly Granny had sown for her. Well, until she got peckish. She tugged at her mom's dress and Snow internally groaned. Before Emma even said anything she knew what that tugging meant.

"Ni-mis." Emma murmured. Snow was just grateful she was too shy in front of all the strangers to speak loudly.

"Soon baby, but mommy needs to pay attention right now." Snow whispered against Emma's ear. Emma wasn't at all impressed with that response. She started to whimper and jut out her lower lip, a look which normally made her mommy cave instantly, but instead today Snow looked above Emma's head, hoping against all odds she'd settle down until after the ceremony. Emma became more fidgety, tugging harder at Snow's dress. Snow nudged Charming and gestured towards Emma. He understood immediately. He tried to discreetly take Emma over onto his lap but this caused Emma to nearly scream the building down. The priest stopped speaking and everyone there turned to see what was wrong with the little princess.

"NI-MIS!" Emma yelled out between sobs, clawing at Snow's dress. Snow and Charming could feel their faces redden as everyone stared at them. Well it wasn't like Snow hadn't fed Emma in front of people before. It didn't bother her, and it didn't bother Charming. It was just nature. Sure, maybe never in front of a crowd this big, but at the end of the day the quicker she silenced Emma the quicker the attention wasn't going to be on them anyway.

"Sorry." Snow called out, sorting it out so Emma was quickly latched on whilst keeping herself reasonably covered. "She's hungry." There were small murmurs of laughter from the gathered crowd before the service resumed.

Emma wasn't done as Snow had hoped before she and Charming had to take their part in the service. So Snow had to do it all whilst feeding Emma. Such was the life of a royal mother.
