Suffering the consequences

DarkHeart asked for a oneshot of an adult Emma hearing the ice cream van during dinner. She begs her parents for money as she spent the last of hers on lunch at Granny's. Her parents say no because Emma's got a punishment of no dessert for a week for smushing her peas to the underside of the table instead of eating them that Snow found whilst cleaning. Emma whines because as a foster kid she was never allowed to get anything from the ice cream van. We have a fancy AF ice cream van that plays neither "Pop goes the weasel" or "Whistle while you work" DarkHeart, ours plays Greensleeves :L

The familiar little tinny jingle had Emma looking right out the window to confirm her suspicion. Yes, she was right, the ice cream van had arrived. She yanked her purse out of her pocket and unzipped it. Her heart sank, she had used the last of her money getting her and Henry burgers from Granny's for lunch. She didn't get her paycheque until next week. She looked up hopefully to her parents.

"Mom…dad…could I maybe borrow a couple of dollars? I'll give it back as soon as I get paid next week." She promised. Snow was about to ask why when she heard the tune as well.

"Oh no, you're not getting money for ice cream. Your week isn't up yet. You're not getting any form of dessert."

"Oh come on!" Emma begged. "I was just trying to spare your feelings. But when Henry breaks a vase pretending he's Damien Sandow it's chalked up to childhood imagination and he's told to be more careful…"

"Emma you were right there with him pretending to be Lita!" Charming pointed out.

"Whose side are you on?" Emma grumbled, crossing her arms and slinking down the chair as the van faded away into the distance. The tune seeming to taunt her now.

"Your mother's. Always your mother's." Charming said, wrapping an arm around Snow and giving her a quick peck. Emma stuck her tongue out and made a disgusted face.

"Don't be so immature, that's how you got yourself into this situation in the first place." Snow chastised her. "If you had actually eaten your peas like the adult that you are rather than mush them under the table for me to find later when I was cleaning up your baby brother's mess then we wouldn't have had any issue lending you some cash to buy an ice cream. Maybe next time you decide to stash your vegetables in weird places you'll think twice." Emma scowled but didn't respond, not wanting to lengthen her time without dessert. Her dad was even keeping an eye on her at work to make sure she wasn't sneaking in any contraband. Where was she, Litchfield?! All she wanted was a bar of chocolate or an ice cream cone!
