Accident in Boston
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma and Henry getting into an accident whilst outside Storybrooke. The nurses at the hospital ask if there's anyone they can call. As she is high on painkillers Emma tells them her parents are Snow White and Prince Charming. The nurses think she's crazy. Henry does everything he can to make sure she's not committed, whilst making sure he doesn't say anything to make them think he's crazy too. Eventually, Henry remembers one of his grandparents' cell numbers (their cells were broken in the accident) and tells the nurse to call MM and David.
Henry rushed behind Emma as she was wheeled in on the stretcher. The paramedics had already given her some pretty strong painkillers. They had been in a car crash whilst on a tour of Boston. Fortunately Henry's airbag had taken the brunt for him and he'd been remained uninjured. However Emma had sustained a nasty arm injury.
The nurses took over from the paramedics and wheeled Emma into a cubical.
"Emma I'm Sister Catherine Golden. These are nurses Tracee DeLaria and Barbara Shafer. We're going to make sure this arm of yours is ok…"
"Is my mom going to be ok?" Henry piped up. The nurses turned round, none having noticed him before.
"Maybe you'd like a trip to the medi-cinema?" One of them offered. "I think they're playing a Selena Gomez film…"
"No, I'm staying here until I know my mom's ok." The Sister sighed.
"Listen son, you can't stay in here while we sort your mother out. Having looked at it I don't think she'll need an operation but popping it back in isn't going to be pretty. If you won't go to the film is there someone we can call?..."
"My parents!" Emma blurted out. "Snow White and Prince Charming!" The nurses all looked at her, very confused. Henry's eyes widened in horror.
"Uh, the paramedics gave her some pretty strong pain meds."
"Not that strong." One of the nurses commented. Henry tried to rack his brain for one of his grandparents' numbers. Both he and Emma's phones had been crushed in the crash.
"Maybe someone should have a visit from Doctor Lyonne…"
"That's your head doctor, isn't it? She doesn't need to see a head doctor. She's perfectly sane." He said stubbornly. "The Snow White and Prince Charming thing is just a joke. Her parents are really sweet together. They've been together for fifty years. It's dead cute. But they live in Montana so they won't be able to come get us." Henry said, thinking on his feet. "Her brother and his wife live in Boston though so they'll be able to get us." Henry said, thinking about which of her parents Emma looked more like. "I'm just trying to remember one of their numbers."
"Well where are they in Boston? We might be able to look them up in a phonebook or a database somewhere." A nurse said. Henry grimaced, the town name wouldn't help.
"It's a very small, old fashioned town, they won't be in the phonebook let alone an online database. Just give me a minute, I'll get the number."
Henry took a piece of paper and a pencil from the receptionist and crunched some numbers. He eventually knew he had the right combination and handed it to the receptionist.
"This is the number for my uncle, David Nolan. Please tell him his sister Emma and his nephew Henry are here and Emma's had an accident. If his wife answers her name's Mary Margaret." The receptionist nodded and dialled the number. Henry listened in anxiously.
"Hello Mr Nolan? This is Jackie Lake from Massachusetts General Hospital. Your sister Emma and your nephew Henry are here. Your sister's had an arm injury and they'll both need someone to pick them up… Yes, Henry's fine. He was uninjured. Ok, thank you Mr Nolan." The receptionist put the phone down and smiled at Henry. "Your aunt and uncle are on their way little man." Henry smiled, relieved that the phone call had gone smoothly. He was just incredibly grateful they'd finally found a way to allow people in and out freely without letting strangers in.
Snow and Charming arrived later that day. They were allowed in to see Emma. They were told she had a clean fracture that the medical team had fixed and that she was allowed to go home after Charming helped Emma sort her insurance details. This would be the last time Emma and Henry were allowed to leave town unsupervised!
