Froggie incident

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma secretly punishing herself by denying herself food. Guest who asked for the frog request I've combined your request in here.

MolesterHolmes: If you're going to write it why do you want me to? Lol.

FictionLover12: I'm afraid I don't very much about volleyball at all :S

"Quick, get him!" Emma yelled out. Henry quickly snapped his hands out and whooped in celebration as his palms closed around a squirming frog, ribbiting away. "Great job Henry, that's our third one!" Emma praised him. She had always promised Henry she would take him frog catching back in Storybrooke, so she figured she could still do it here in the Enchanted Forest. At first she'd been a bit apprehensive that the frogs might spit fire or something but apparently no, they were all normal.

"I think I'm going to keep this one. I'll name him Zimmer." Emma raised an eyebrow.

"Quirky. I like it. Hey, do you have any idea what time it is? I'm lost without my phone but apparently the signal's lousy here."

"Not sure. But I think it's about one pm." Henry said, checking out the position of the sun." Emma checked herself, not that she had a clue what she was doing.

"Great. Then we've got plenty time then."

"I thought you said it was about one pm about two hours ago!" Emma hissed to Henry as they sprinted back to the palace. They had received a message via bluebird from Emma's parents telling them dinner started in less than an hour and asking where they were. "Duke and Duchess Pimentel are coming tonight. It's our first big fancy doo-da since arriving back here!"

"I'm sorry, but what do I know about telling the time from the sun!" Henry quipped back. Emma just shot him a look but decided their energy was best spent running flat out back home.

Emma and Henry made it home before their guests arrived. They both just had time to wash their hands and faces and run a comb through their hair before skidding into the entrance hall to meet them with Snow and Charming. Both were acutely aware of the splashes of water round the bottom of their trousers, but nothing could be done now.

"Nicholas! Rena! Good to see you both." Charming greeted the pair cheerfully. "Shall we go into the dining room? Our head chef Toussaint has been cooking up a storm for tonight." Emma swallowed back the lump in her throat as she followed her family into the dining room of the palace. She just didn't know how to act royal at all.

That showed horribly when she thought the finger cleaning bowl was a bowl of very plain soup. She heard her mother clear her throat and looked up to find everyone staring at her. Her mother splashed her fingers in the bowl to give Emma an idea of what she was meant to be doing.

"Oh, sorry." Emma mumbled, totally mortified. Henry was holding back his sniggers as best he could, but he'd be laughing on the other side of his face shortly. In their haste to get ready, both Emma and Henry had forgotten about Zimmer. That was until he wriggled out of Henry's pocket and hopped right up onto his plate. The duchess screamed and just about fainted. Henry lunged forward and tried to grab the little reptile, but it leaped up over him almost mockingly. Emma joined in trying to catch the beast, but he easily evaded them, hopping merrily right along the table. Emma and Henry made a massive clutter of all the dishes on the table trying to catch him. Plates and goblets were flying everywhere with all manner or food and drinks splattering everyone.

Eventually, Henry got hold of the frog and shoved him unceremoniously back in his pocket.

"Sorry about that." He said with his grandpa's charm. "Zimmer just wanted to say hello and check frog's legs weren't on the menu." Apparently the duke and duchess did not find this at all amusing.

"Well sir and madam be wanting…" But the butler stopped when he caught sight of the carnage in front of him.

"Yes thank you Lapkus." Snow said. "I suspect the Duke and Duchess will be wanting their coats." The couple nodded briskly. Emma and Henry hung their heads in shame. It didn't look like they'd be getting that deal on sugar cane.

Emma took the whole ordeal a lot harder than Henry. By the time Snow and Charming were done seeing out their guests she'd already flown up the stairs and locked herself in her bedroom.

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault." Henry said, ashamed. "If I had just told her I didn't have a clue about the time…"

"Henry, it's alright." Charming said, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. "It's just a stupid dinner. Don't get worked up about it." Henry nodded glumly. He still felt bad. Snow and Charming tried to give the same message to Emma, but she refused to accept this wasn't her fault.

Emma stayed bolted up in her room for two days. Snow, Charming and Henry all tried to coax her out but she was having none of it.

"Emma, you need to eat!" Charming called through the door. "It's been two days!"

"I don't deserve food!" Emma cried back. "Again, I'm so sorry for Henry and I. But please don't blame the kid. It was my fault…"

"Emma honey nobody is blaming either of you, it was just an accident. Starving yourself isn't helping anyone." Snow said gently. "You're going to make yourself very sick over something not very important. It's not a big deal, really. Who cares about them? They were pushy and snooty anyway."

"Your mom's right. Please come out baby. We care far more about your wellbeing than if they like us enough to give us a discount on sugar cane." Charming added. Snow and Charming held their breaths as they waited. Silence. Then, suddenly, they heard Emma slide the lock, unlocking the door. Snow and Charming released their breaths and opened the door. They found a very broken looking Emma standing behind it. They both came forward and just wrapped her in a hug, knowing she needed some security. They knew she was struggling with the adaption from one world to the other, but they also knew she'd make a fine princess. She just needed a little time…and perhaps some fine dining lessons.
