Storytime with dad
Emma asked for a oneshot of an adult Emma is sick and Snow is fussing over her but all Emma wants is Charming
"Let's see if your temperature has gone down some." Snow said, holding out the small device. "Say ah." Emma glowered at her mom.
"You took it fifteen minutes ago. Then fifteen minutes before that." Emma complained.
"Yes and in fifteen minutes I'll take it again once we've got this one out of the way so say ah." Snow told her. Emma rolled her eyes but opened her mouth and allowed her mom to check her temperature, again. Stupid bug. At least she hadn't vomited since that morning, which was something. Maybe her mom would allow her to have something other than chicken soup for lunch. When the machine beeped Snow took it out of Emma's mouth and observed the readout with a small frown. "No improvement I'm afraid. Sorry baby." Emma bit her lip to stop herself from rudely pointing out that her mom hadn't given a chance for an improvement. She knew her mom meant well, but she was constantly buzzing round Emma like a fly. Emma understood that she wanted to make up for all the times in the past Emma was sick and she hadn't been there, but the truth was she was doing her head in. What she really wanted right now was her dad. Whenever Emma was suffering from a headache or whatever at the station he would start telling her a story from the Enchanted Forest and Emma seemed to forget her troubles.
"Hey listen, is dad around?" Emma asked her mom as she wiped the thermometer and stuck it back in its cover.
"He's feeding Neal just now honey." Snow answered. Emma bit her lip again to stop herself saying something mean. That was the third time she'd tried to ask for her dad and the third time she'd been told he was doing something with Neal. Why did her brother have to take up so much of his attention? She knew she was just being selfish, he was just a baby after all, but she couldn't help it. She wanted their dad too. "I'll send him up when he's finished. You rest until then." Snow left Emma with an affectionate pat to the head. Emma sighed and lay back in bed. What to do until then?
Emma wasn't waiting overly long. About twenty minutes later a knock on her door made her look up. She smiled brightly when she saw her dad.
"Your mom said you were asking for me." He said, coming in and sitting at the edge of the bed. How's the patient?"
"Fine." Emma answered. "I was just wondering…remember that story you started telling me a week or so ago at the station about meeting that Yael Althaus person you met? Could you finish it?" Emma asked sheepishly. Charming smiled down at her and patted the back of her hand. He knew she was basically asking for storytime, but he wouldn't show her how touched he was that she trusted him enough to do that. He knew that would embarrass her.
"I would love to honey. Let's see. We were just at the part where they had stormed into the tavern and were trying to find Flynn Rider…" Emma settled back and closed her eyes. Yeah, this was much better.
