Stargazing
So here we are- the mighty one thousandth chapter. Wow. I am completely humbled by this folks. When I started this story, I thought it'd be cool to reach 20. Then requests flooded in and I thought maybe 50 would be great. This followed by the goal extending to 100, then 500 and then I started to allow myself to think that maybe, just maybe, I could reach 1000 chapters. But no, surely not, surely people would lose interest way before then? But no, you kept those requests coming. I won't lie, there were times when I thought it was going to dry up, but each time you all proved me wrong and I could not be more grateful to you all, my wonderful readers. Since I started this story about 18 months ago, some pretty hard things have happened in my life. You have no idea the emotions I've been able to channel through some of these stories. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you are away of the few scattered about that were all too real…regardless, the point is thanks to you I have been able to work through these hard times. There's been so many of you who've been constant supports to this both this story and me: FictionLover12, Noel, bluerose921, Jade Star, 2, Soprano Pixie, Lacorra and so many others who know who they are. A special thank you must be given to addicted2broadway89 who has reviewed every single chapter without fail. I cannot thank all of you, my readers, enough. This is a milestone I never thought I would reach and yet here we are. I say we as this story is as much yours as it is mine. It is your ideas that built it, after all. I decided it was only fair to write my own chapter for the big 'un, as I didn't want to be seen to be playing favourites. I hope you all enjoy and continue to enjoy these little stories,
JustMeAndMyKeyboard :) So, here is the chapter under the theme of reaching for the stars…
Snow and Charming lay on the grass with their little girl nestled safely between them. They watched as the sky changed from a light summer's day blue to the various shades of sunset as the few wispy floated lazily across the sky blown along by the gentle breeze until eventually the night sky appeared with only the moon and the stars breaking their darkness. Snow and Charming had promised four year old Emma that they would finally let her do some stargazing tonight and tell her the old stories of the stars.
"Can you see that little cluster of stars there baby? They say that's where the great wizard Merlin sent Uther Pendragon after his death. Arthur pleaded with the great wizard to not allow his father to be buried deep in the earth or sent floating out to sea, but rather to be allowed to fly into the sky, so Arthur knew his father would always watch over him, and guide him when he was lost. It is called the great King of the past." Charming explained to her.
"Wow." Emma whispered, so filled with wonder. "Tell me another one!" She begged.
"Alright baby, see that little almost spiral like formation over to your right? That was from when giants got scared of the dark at night. They kept falling over each other and it was causing fights. So the head giant Chernus wrapped some rocks in magical dust and set them ablaze before reaching up and putting them in the sky. The giants would use that special formation to help them know where they were going at night." Snow told her daughter.
"This is so amazing!" Emma breathed, her eyes sparkling as bright as any of the stars in the sky. She snuggled down between her parents under the blanket covering all three of them. She rested her weary head against her father's shoulder and yawned.
"There's just so many." She said sleepily. "They make me feel so small."
"Right now, you are small. But that's ok. Because we're here to keep you safe." Charming said, holding his baby girl close. "You can sleep, it's alright. The stars will come out another night."
"Ok." Emma murmured. "Night night daddy. Night night mommy. Love you."
"We love you too, princess." Snow said, stroking through Emma's hair.
"Always." Charming added. Emma then drifted off, content in the knowledge that she was safe with her parents.
"I love her so much." Charming whispered, cuddling her close. "I never thought I could love another girl as much as I do you."
"I know what you mean. She's just so perfect. The perfect mix of both of us." Snow reached over Emma's golden head and kissed her husband. "I love you Charming. I love you so much." Charming leaned his forehead against Snow's as they both wrapped their arms around Emma between them, the little life they had made together with their love. Neither could think of a more perfect way to spend any night than together, holding the ones they loved so much.
