Protecting him- part 2

hailsara1973 asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch1007 "Protecting him" where Neal has to be convinced that the accident and Emma's injuries aren't his fault. He refuses to believe anyone but Emma.

Guest who asked for a sequel to 1012: I'm not sure I'd be able to give you much of a story there.

Normally I just delete guest requests that start with "one of..." because I've made it clear how I feel about being demanded, but this one... the guest who asked for Snow and Regina getting into a bar fight and Charming throwing dollar bills at them, do you even realise how degrading that is? Even if you hadn't demanded it, you were never getting that.

"Neal it wasn't your fault pal." Charming said, resting his hand on Neal's shoulder. "A deer jumped out onto the road and startled Emma- not you."

"But she got hurt protecting me." Neal sniffled. He looked up at his parents, teary eyed. "What if she never walks again?" Snow pulled Neal into a hug.

"We need to have hope that she will." She told him. Snow looked at Charming who nodded, knowing what she was thinking. "Come on, you're coming with us to see her." Neal dragged back, shaking his head.

"Neal, you won't listen to us when we say it isn't your fault. Maybe you'll listen to Emma. It's ok, she's been asking to see you lots."

"What if that's just so she can yell at me because she got hurt?"

"It isn't, we promise. Come on." Reluctantly, Neal went with his parents to the hospital. The whole way there his heart was pounding. He still wasn't convinced Emma wasn't mad.

The closer they got to Emma's room the greater Neal's fear grew. He could feel a ringing in his ears and he was finding it harder to breathe. But all too soon they were in there, and he was face to face with Emma. But when she saw him, she didn't start to yell, her face broke into a massive smile.

"Neal! You're finally here! I've been missing you buddy." Emma said, holding her hands out for a hug from her baby brother. Neal slowly walked over, still worried she would try and strangle him. But she didn't, she pulled Neal into a hug.

"I've missed you so much little man, where've you been?" Neal didn't answer, not sure how to say it.

"Neal's worried you're mad at him. He thinks the accident is all his fault." Charming spoke for him. Emma pulled back and looked right at Neal.

"Is that true?" Neal nodded. "Oh buddy, this accident was not your fault. I protected you because you're my baby brother and it's my job to keep you safe. It's not your fault I got hurt, understand?" Neal just snuggled into Emma, he really had to hear that.
