A good home
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma in a good foster home.
"Come on upstairs and I'll show you to your new room Emma." My new foster mom said kindly. I couldn't deny that I felt suspicious. Why was she being so nice? What was her motive? They always had a motive. I followed her up the spiral staircase clutching my tiny suitcase tightly. I didn't have much to my name and nobody was taking what little I had. "Now I know your social worker introduced us as Mr and Mrs Torres but please don't call us that; call us Julie and Tim. This is your home now, we don't want you feeling like you have to be formal here. We also have Taryn and Lolita living with us, but we asked them to go hang out with their friends right now to let you get settled in." She explained. Only two other kids? Small home. She stopped in front of a pastel yellow painted door and stepped to the side. "Well, here it is." I waited for her to open the door, but clearly she was expecting me to. I stepped forward and pushed it open, still keeping my suitcase clutched tightly to me with my other hand.
I gasped at the sight of the room. It was massive. The walls matched the colour of the door with a cream ceiling and a fluffy cream carpet. There was a double bed with a fresh looking blush pink duvet and matching pillows sitting just under the window. A gigantic wooden wardrobe that ten of my suitcase's worth of clothing wouldn't fill. There was even a TV sitting on a small stand. Had I died and gone to Heaven?
"If you don't like it we can always redecorate." Julie said quickly. She must have taken my gasp as a sign of disapproval. I turned and looked at her, flabbergasted. I shook my head.
"It's perfect." I just managed to say. I didn't have words to describe how grateful I was. Julie just smiled and reached out, patting my shoulder.
"I'll let you get your things unpacked. I'll be downstairs if you need me, come down whenever you're ready. Tim will be back from work in about an hour and I've asked Taryn and Lolita to be back by six so you can meet them in stages, not so overwhelming that way. Just let me know if you need anything." She said before heading back down the stairs. I looked into my new room in awe. I'd finally landed on my feet.
