Godmother
Marina Ka-Fai asked for a oneshot of Emma's daughter being born and Emma asking Lily if she can name her baby after her and if Lily will be her godmother.
"She's cute." Lily said nervously. Knowing that she had no hope but to destroy everything she touched made her nervous around Emma's new daughter. Lily had only wanted to pop in the cheesy little pink teddy bear, but when she shuffled into the room Emma's family insisted they give the friends some privacy and allow Lily to meet the baby properly. As they left Lily couldn't help but feel uneasy for two reasons. The first that she didn't like being left alone with a defenceless mother and baby. The second being that as they left they all seemed to have a knowing twinkle in their eyes.
"You wanna hold her?" Emma offered, holding the baby out slightly. Lily shook her head, pushing back against the back of her seat.
"No, I'm alright thanks. She seems quite settled with you." Lily said. Truth be told she'd never held a baby before and didn't think now was the time to try. She did take a closer peek at the little one though. She'd been sleeping since Lily's arrival, so she didn't know the colour of her eyes. She had a tiny tuft of blonde hair on top of her tiny little head. She was nestled comfortably against her mother, snoozing away. Emma shrugged her shoulders slightly.
"Well it's a shame you don't want to hold your goddaughter." She said nonchalantly. It took a moment for that to sink in with Lily.
"My what?" She asked, surprised.
"Your goddaughter. I know we've had our ups and downs, but we've been friends for a long time Lil. Besides, if she's going to have your name it only makes sense for you to be the godmother."
"Wait, my name?" Lily asked. Emma nodded and smiled over at her friend.
"I'd like to name her Lily, after you. If that's ok?" Emma asked. Lily rapidly blinked back the tears as she nodded.
"Yeah." She breathed. "I'd like that, and I'd be honoured to be her godmother."
"Well Lily," Emma cooed, looking down at her baby girl. "Say hi to auntie Lily." Emma once again held the little girl out, and this time Lily cautiously accepted. She cradled the infant as carefully as possible. This was her goddaughter. The most beautiful little girl in the world was her goddaughter.
