Seven protectors

Katy asked for a oneshot of the dwarves meeting Emma for the first time and being as protective as they are with Snow.

Snow and Charming stared down at the beautiful little bundle in Snow's arms. Emma had only been born yesterday and they were already so in love with her. They'd been in love with her from the second they saw her. They'd had her all to themselves for the last day, now it was time to share her with their loved ones. The rest of the kingdom could wait a couple more dates. The first to come and visit the latest addition to the family, were the dwarves. Together they shuffled quietly into the room led by Doc, who had of course already met the baby girl.

"Hi guys." Snow whispered. She held out the tiny baby in her arms. "I would like you to meet our daughter, Princess Emma Ruth." The seven little men all said various statements commenting on how adorable she was.

"So, who wants to hold her first?" Charming asked them. The men quickly got themselves into a line, jostling to be at the front. At the end Dopey ended up at the front. Charming took Emma from Snow and went to hand her to Dopey.

"Don't give her to him!" Grumpy said, astonished. "He'll drop her." Snow and Charming both rolled their eyes. Poor Dopey now looked very sheepish and nervous.

"Well I trust Dopey with our daughter, and I'm sure Charming does too." Snow said, giving her friend a smile of confidence.

"Of course I do." Charming agreed. He carefully handed little Emma over to her uncle Dopey. The other dwarves circled around him, peering down at the infant girl.

"She's so precious." Sneezy said. "She looks more vulnerable than me in hay fever season."

"Are you all thinking what I'm thinking?" Happy asked. The dwarves all nodded without needing to speak to give confirmation.

"What exactly are we thinking?" Charming asked, amused. The dwarves didn't look up from Emma.

"That we're her protectors." Dopey said. "We'll always look after her. Our baby niece." Charming smiled, he knew he liked these guys…even when they gave him a hard time over Snow.

"Well we appreciate that." Snow said. "I'm not sure how she'll feel when she's a teenager wanting to date but that's a problem for another time."

"No problem." Grumpy said calmly. "No dating." All the other dwarves and Charming nodded in agreement. That sounded like a good plan.
