Not out of sight

A guest asked for a oneshot of a newborn Emma sleeping in Snow and Charming's room. At one month old Charming thinks she should sleep in her nursery but Snow doesn't want to be away from her.

"Snow its right next door." Charming said gently. "She'll be fine. We'll hear her cry if she needs us."

"You're not the one who'll be traipsing up and down throughout the night when she needs fed." Snow grumbled, rocking the tiny sleeping baby in her arms as she sat on their bed. Charming raised an eyebrow. He would call her bluff.

"Well I can get up, bring her to you, and then put her back in her crib in her nursery. It's a lot more spacious than her little crib in here." Charming suggested. Snow didn't respond, Charming knew he had her there. "Be honest with me, your problem with leaving Emma next door isn't getting up to feed her. It's that you don't want her so far away." He said. Snow nodded. Charming sat down beside her on the bed and stroked through Emma's hair.

"She's still so tiny, Charming." Snow whispered. "Anything could happen to her. Regina and George are both still out there. She's so defenceless through there. I can't leave here through there alone." Snow explained. Charming kissed the side of her head.

"I just want you to be honest with me Snow." Charming said. "If you had just said when I suggested tonight we start trying to move her next door after she was sleeping that you wouldn't feel safe then I wouldn't have pushed anything. But you lied to me Snow. You don't need to lie. If you don't feel she's safe through there, then she can stay through here for now. There's no problem. Just don't lie to me please." Snow nodded.

"I'm sorry." Snow said. "I didn't mean to upset you. I just didn't want you to think I was being overprotective of her." Charming chuckled.

"Snow, she's a month old. I don't think you can be overprotective. I'll just remind you of this when she's fifteen and I put a boy ban in place." He said, only half joking. Snow smiled.

"I'll remember." She promised. Her little princess deserved all the protection she could get.
