Chapter 4

Cersei Lannister POV

Dany and I both have an interview today at the restaurant, but we're going at different times. I ended up applying for the job, but I'm secretly hoping I don't get it so I have an excuse to not do it. We're planning on going to a party at the co-op that Bronn and Jorah live in now, we made a deal that she and Jon would come if I went to this interview.

I'm waiting in the restaurant when Dany walks by. "Hey," I say. "Did you just finish your interview?"

"Yeah," she says. "They said they would call me this weekend."

"Awesome," I say. "Are they ready for me?"

"They should be," she says. "The manager is in his office, you should be able to just go and knock on the door."

"Okay," I say. "How do you think it went for you? Were they nice, or did they seem crazy?"

"The manager was really nice," Dany says. "I think it went okay, but I'm nervous because we both have basically no experience."

"That's so stupid," I say. "I wore this shirt that shows some cleavage, so I should be fine."

She rolls her eyes. "Good luck," she says. "Let me know how it goes."

"I will," I say. "You're still coming to party with us tonight, right?"

"Yeah, we plan on it," she says. "But we don't know how long we'll be out, we plan on going home tomorrow for Labor Day weekend."

"Oh, any reason why?"

"We don't know when we'll be able to visit next, probably not until Thanksgiving," Dany says. "I want to see my dad once before then."

"I get that, I guess," I say. "I should probably go interview before they forget about me, see you later."

"Bye," Dany says. "See you later."

Jaime and I are walking to the party later in the evening, it's dark already and it's actually starting to feel nice outside at night.

"How did your interview go?" Jaime asks me.

"It went well," I say. "He seemed to like me, I wore a shirt that showed some cleavage for good measure."

Jaime laughs. "But you don't know if you got the job yet?"

"Not yet," I say. "They said they'd call me this weekend, which is also what they said to Dany."

"I hope you get it," he says. "I think it would be good for you."

"Yeah, you already said that."

We get to the party and find Jorah and Bronn, they're sitting on a couch with some other people.

"Hey," I say, walking next to the couch. Bronn is sitting closest to the arm of the couch. "How's it going?"

"Good," he says. "I'm glad you could make it."

I sit on the arm of the couch, Jaime went to the other side to talk to Jorah. Bronn and I have been texting and talking more since this semester started, I'm starting to think I actually might like him a little. I've been trying to push it away, though. Jaime would go insane if he knew that there might actually be something between us.

"Do you want a drink?" Bronn asks me.

"Sure," I say. We walk over to the keg and I watch him pour me a beer. "Are you doing anything fun for the long weekend?"

"Not really," he says. "You?"

"Dany and Jon are going home, but I think I'm going to stay on campus."

"Oh yeah, are Dany and Jon coming?"

"They said they were," I say. "But I never know with them."

"I missed you this Summer," Bronn says. "I meant to text you, but a lot was going on. I'm sorry."

"It's okay," I say. "Maybe you can hook me up with some stuff this weekend?"

"We'll see," he says. "I feel bad after what happened last year, Jaime got pretty upset with me."

"Well, no one said he has to know," I say. "Just think about it and let me know."

We walk back to the group and sit around, talking. We pretend that conversation didn't just happen. I do wonder if he actually likes me or if I'm just reading too much into it. After everything that happened last year, maybe he has a point and nothing more can ever happen between us.

Daenerys Targaryen POV

Jon and I are getting ready for the party, I'm doing my hair in the bathroom. "Are you sure you still want to go?" I ask Jon. "It's not too late for us to make up some excuse."

"I'm sure," he says. "It'll be fine, I'm sure. I just don't want to be there for too long."

"Don't worry," I say. "I don't want to be there for long either."

We enter the co-op after walking there and paying the cover charge, it luckily wasn't much. After walking around for a bit, we find Bronn and Jorah sitting on a couch. Cersei and Jaime are sitting by them.

"Hey guys," Bronn says when we find them. "Glad you could make it."

"It took forever to drag these two out of their house," Cersei says, gesturing to me and Jon. "They've been such buzzkills since the semester started."

They just laugh. "You always say that about me," I say, trying to laugh along. "Maybe I just want to start being more responsible. There's more to life than partying."

"Okay, mom," Cersei says. "Whatever you say."

I'm pretty done with her talking to me like this, I'm just really glad I don't live with her anymore.

"Do you guys want to smoke?" Jorah asks us. "I brought some weed."

I look over at Jon. "Sure," he says. He then looks at me. "Is that okay?"

"Sure," I say. "We can do that." I probably won't smoke much, and I'm surprised Jon wants to. It's fine just for tonight, though. We hardly let loose anymore.

We walk outside, Cersei follows shortly after. When she walks up to us, she's carring 3 beers. "Did you bring drinks for all of us?" Jorah asks her.

"No, these are for me," she says. "I don't know how long we'll be out here, I know I won't feel like going back inside."

Jon and I give each other a look, and Bronn just chuckles. Jorah lights up a joint and starts passing it around, we each take a hit.

"So how's living in this co-op?" Cersei asks Bronn and Jorah.

"It's nice," Bronn says. "Definitely better than a dorm, and the parties are much better."

"Is a co-op much different than a fraternity?" Jon asks.

"Not too different," Jorah says. "It's not Greek Life, and it's mainly a house for people with similar majors."

"Oh, that's a cool idea," Jon says. "It's probably good for people when they have a hard time making friends in college."

Cersei opens another beer, even though she's only halfway through the first one. "What are you doing?" Jaime asks her. "You still have a lot left in that other one."

"It's like having the first sip again," Cersei says. "You know I'll finish both of them." She isn't making any sense.

"So have you guys heard from that job?" Bronn asks us, I'm not sure how he knew about that.

"No," I say. "We just had our interview today."

"I hope at least one of you gets it," he says. "That way we can sneak in for free drinks."

He must be out of his mind if he thinks I'm giving him free drinks, but I know Cersei would. I'm kind of hoping she doesn't get the job, even though it might be good for her. I don't want it to be on me that I suggested the job to her if she does something stupid to get herself into trouble.

Jon Snow Stark POV

This party isn't so bad, it's not as crazy as a frat would be I guess. I'm still not that stoked to be here. We walk inside after we finish smoking, and I'm getting a drink when Bronn walks up to me.

"Hey," he says. "I'm glad you guys could make it."

"Yeah, me too," I say. "Thanks for inviting us."

I look over and Dany is talking to Jorah, which I don't like. I'm not going to tell her who she can and can't talk to, but I still don't love it.

"So Dany says you go here now?" Bronn asks me.

"Yeah, I just transferred," I say. "Do you like it here?"

"I do," he says. "Better now that Cersei's here."

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah," he says. "I've been wanting to ask her out for a while, but Jaime would kill me."

"I get that," I say. "They seem really close."

"Oh, they are."

Bronn takes a sip of his drink and rolls his eyes. I'm not sure why he's sharing all this information with me, we barely know each other and I really don't know how to respond. It all just feels very awkward.

Dany eventually walks up to us. "Hey," she says. "How's it going?"

"Good," I say. "We have kind of an early drive tomorrow, do you want to head back?"

"Yeah, that's not a bad idea," Dany says. She turns to Bronn. "Can you tell Cersei and Jaime we left?"

"Yeah, sure," he says. "Have a good night."

"You too."

We get home from the party, I'm sober and Dany is just a little tipsy. She sits on the couch and leans her head back. "How are you doing?" I ask her.

"See what I mean?" She says, not opening her eyes. I assume she's referring to Cersei.

"Yeah," I say, "I get why you don't want to deal with that."

"Tonight wasn't actually that bad," Dany says,

"It's definitely been a lot worse before."

"How?"

"Jaime's walked in on her sucking that guy Bronn's dick," she says. "That was a pretty rough night."

"Woah," I say, walking toward our bed and taking my shoes off. "I don't think you told me about that one."

"I honestly repressed it," she says. "You think I wanted to relive that night?"

"I get it," I say. "I'm glad I finally got to meet that guy Jorah who's apparently so in love with you."

"See, he's not so bad right?"

"I guess not," I say. "I still wish he'd stop hitting on you."

"He hasn't in a long time," Dany says. "He knew before he met you that we were together."

"But he still hit on you," I say. "That wasn't cool."

"He's a good guy," she says. "I promise he has a good heart."

"You were talking to him earlier when I was talking to Bronn," I say. "He wasn't flirting with you then?"

I walk over to the couch and sit next to Dany. "I don't think so," she says. "I honestly think he was just making conversation."

"I don't know," I say. "I know how guys are, he's probably still hoping something will happen between you guys."

"Either way, it doesn't matter," Dany says, leaning her head on my shoulder. "You know I only have eyes for you."

"You better," I say, kissing her head. "Do you want to go to bed?"

"Yeah," she replies. "Let me just go take my makeup off and get changed." She gets up and goes into the bathroom.

"Did you want to stay longer?"

"No," she says. "We're leaving early tomorrow to visit our parents, it was best we came home."

"Are Cersei and Jaime going back for Labor Day Weekend?"

"I don't think so," she says, coming out of the bathroom and starting to get changed. "I mentioned we were, and Cersei didn't say anything in response."

She and I both change and we get in bed together. "How did your interview go?" I ask Dany before we fall asleep.

"I think it went well," she says. "They said they'd call me this weekend."

"I hope you get it," I say. "I hope I get the job at the student center."

"I'm sure you will," she says. "They're usually not picky about hiring for those jobs."

"Gee, thanks." I start laughing.

"Come on," she says. "You know that's not what I meant."

"I know, I'm just kidding," I say. "We should probably get some rest."

"Good night, babe. I love you."

"I love you too."

We kiss goodnight and then roll over. I'm not sure what to make of this party. I knew Dany's friends were partiers, and I'm glad she's starting to drift away from that. I definitely don't want to be a part of that scene on a regular basis, especially not with someone like Cersei around.
