Chapter 15
Sansa Stark POV
I'm finally home from Saturday's cheer practice, and I'm exhausted. I want to eat everything in sight, I make a plate of lasagna that my mom made tonight and heat it up in the microwave. I'm doing better with food, I can finally eat somewhat normally without having a lot of the same issues I used to have. It feels like an accomplishment for me, even though it's just normal for most other people.
I'm heading to my room to do some homework when my mom calls out to me from her room. "Sansa?" She says. "Can you come here?"
I walk into the doorway of her room. "Yeah?" I say.
"We need to check your application status again," she says. "Can you sit down?"
"Mom, we checked it last week," I say. "Do we have to? I'm really hungry and I want to get ahead on homework."
"It'll take five minutes," she says. "We need to check it every week now that it's October. We could've been done by now, but you're arguing with me."
I sigh. "Fine," I say, setting my food down on her nightstand and sitting on her bed. "Let's get it over with."
My mom pulls up her computer and logs into the application website. It's annoying that they moved everything online, I wish I could've gotten a letter in the mail like Jon did so I wouldn't have to worry about it.
She logs me in, and I see a smile creep onto her face. She turns her computer screen around, and I see the application website. It says that I got into Jon and Dany's school, which was my first choice.
"It says you got in," my mom says. "Congratulations!"
"I did," I say. "Thank God, I really didn't want to go to Jon's old school."
"We'll have to take you out to celebrate," my mom says. "I'll talk to dad about it, he'll be so excited!"
"Thanks, mom," I say. "Now can I eat?"
"Of course, dear. Don't forget to tell Arya."
I smile, grab my food and head to my room. I'm really happy and excited, but part of me still feels bad because Jon didn't get a celebration like this. I know my mom doesn't like him, but that still doesn't make it right.
"What did mom want?" Arya asks when I walk into our room.
"She wanted to check my application status again," I say. "Guess what?"
"What?"
"I got in!"
"No way, really?" Arya asks. "To Jon and Dany's school?"
"Yep," I say. "I'm so relieved, I really didn't want to go somewhere where I didn't know anyone."
"I'm happy for you," Arya says. "I'm going to be so sad when you leave, though."
"I know," I say. "But it won't be all bad, you'll get your own room."
"I don't care that much about that," she says. "I'll still miss you."
"We'll text literally every day, I promise you," I say. "I'll need to tell you everything about college."
"You better."
"Do you mind if I call Myrcella?" I ask. "I want to tell her the news."
Arya just nods and goes back to her book. I dial Myrcella's number and she immediately picks up. "Hey, Sansa," she says. "What's up?"
"I'm not bothering you, am I?"
"Not at all," she says. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah," I say. "I got into my first choice school."
"For real?" She says. "That's amazing, congratulations!"
"Thanks!" I say. "I'm so relieved, I really wanted to get in there. I just didn't think I would know this soon."
"Do you want to come over and hang out at my place soon?" She asks. "I want to help you celebrate, and you haven't been able to come over much."
"Yeah, sure," I say. "Let's plan on next Saturday, does that work?"
"For sure," she says. "I should go, though. Bye Sansa."
"Bye."
"She was happy for you?" Arya asks.
"Yeah she really was," I say. "She wants me to come over next weekend so we can hang out and celebrate. Would that be weird for you?"
"Why would that be weird for me?" Arya asks. "Myrcella's your best friend."
"I just don't know if Gendry will be there," I say. "I didn't want me being around him to be weird for you."
"It's fine," she says. "You can't control if he's there. Even if you could, it wouldn't matter to me."
"Okay, thanks Arya."
I'm glad I got into college, now I don't have to keep worrying about that. Now I just have to stress about getting everything ready in time. I feel like I'm not ready to leave home, which is weird because I always thought I would be ready. I guess you can't ever really be fully ready for such a huge step in life.
I'll definitely miss Arya and Myrcella, especially Arya. She's helped me get through so much over the years, and I hope I've done the same for her. I also hope Myrcella will be okay without me here. I know she has Podrick, but I still hope I can be there for her in some capacity. I have a lot tying me here, more than I even realized.
Daenerys Targaryen POV
Jon and Bronn are meeting Cersei and I after work, we're going on a double date. I'm worried it'll be awkward, but Cersei keeps saying it would be fun so I finally agreed. Cersei is touching up her makeup in the bathroom, I'm waiting outside in case the guys show up.
Cersei eventually walks out, she also got changed. "You look cute," I say. "That's a lot of makeup, though."
"Whatever, I like it," she says. "I'm trying something different." She suddenly hiccups, and I turn to look at her.
"Are you drunk?" I ask.
"Definitely not," she says. "But the head bartender did just give me a shot."
"Cersei," I say. "That can't be a good idea."
"Oh, lighten up," she says. "I'm off work."
Before I can say anything else, Jon and Bronn walk up. "Hey," I say to Jon, giving him a kiss. "How was the student center?" He had a short shift there this afternoon.
"It was fine," he says. "Boring, that's how Saturdays usually go since not many people go there on weekends."
"Are we ready?" Cersei asks, sounding annoyed. We planned to walk to a cheap restaurant a couple blocks from work.
"Yeah," I say. "Let's go."
"How was work?" Bronn asks Cersei as we start walking down the street.
"It went okay," she says. "The head bartender gave me a shot before I left and Dany is butthurt about it."
Cersei laughs, but I'm not amused. "Come on, Dany," Bronn says. "Don't be a buzzkill."
This is weird, he doesn't know me like that. We get to the restaurant and decide to sit on their patio since the weather's nice.
"What are you guys doing for Thanksgiving?" Bronn asks after we sit down.
"I plan on staying with my parents and siblings," Jon says. "But I might stay a Dany's place a little if things get too hectic."
"How many siblings to you have?" Bronn asks.
"Five," Jon says. "But my oldest brother may not be there, he's married and has a kid."
We order an appetizer, but I'm not that hungry. "Do you guys want to come back to my place?" Cersei asks. "We can have a drink or two."
Jon and I look at each other. "Sure," Jon says, which surprises me. "Why not?"
After paying, Jon and I get into the car and head to Cersei and Jaime's place. "Why did you say yes to going over there?" I ask. "I didn't think you'd want to."
"I don't see why it would hurt," he says. "It's not like we're doing anything, but I won't be drinking."
We get to their place around the same time Bronn and Cersei are pulling up. "Is Jaime home?" I ask Cersei as we're walking up to her apartment.
"Yeah, I think so," she says. "He's not doing anything that I know of."
We walk inside and Jaime is on the couch watching TV. "Hey," I say as we walk in. "Is it okay that Jon and I are here?"
"For sure," Jaime says. He looks over and pauses when he sees Bronn. "Oh, hey guys."
Bronn waves and Cersei immediately goes into the kitchen and pours herself a drink. "Dany," she calls out. "Do you want a drink?"
"Sure, why not?" I say. "Just don't make it too strong please." Not too strong for Cersei is like a normal drink for other people.
Cersei just laughs. "Yeah, okay mom."
She makes the drinks and sits back down. "How are things going with the newspaper?" I ask Cersei as she sits down, I haven't heard an update on that in a while.
"It's going okay," she says. "I've been more consistent lately, but I'm still not an editor."
"Do you want to be?" Bronn asks.
"Yeah, I do," Cersei says. "I didn't think I wanted to, but most people eventually become an editor when they're writing for the paper for that long. I hope I can my senior year."
"I'm sure you will," Bronn says. "You're very talented." That's actually kind of sweet. I don't have great things to say about Bronn, but at least he's nice to her.
"Oh by the way," Bronn continues. "Let me know if you ever want the hookup, I can get you guys some stuff if you need it."
I know what he's referring to, but he knows we don't really get into that stuff. I guess he's just trying to kiss up to us since he and Jaime are on the rocks.
"Noted," Jon says. "Thanks." He's definitely not sincere about that offer, which is good. I don't think we'll ever go past smoking a little weed here and there.
Jon Snow Stark POV
We start playing a game, surprisingly Jaime sits down to join us. I didn't think he would, since he apparently doesn't love being around Bronn these days. Bronn starts shuffling cards, Jaime and I are sitting next to each other at the table.
"How are your younger brothers?" Jaime asks me. That's weird of him to ask, he never cared before and we don't know each other like that.
"They're fine," I say. "Apparently my younger brother Bran has a girlfriend."
"How old is he?" Cersei asks.
"Thirteen," I say. "But he grew up with her and is best friends with her brother, it's actually pretty cute."
"That is cute," Jaime says. "I remember those days." That's gross to hear if he means what I think he does.
"I think that innocent kind of love is cute," Dany says. "They seem sweet together."
"Things are so much simpler when you're that age," I say. "I kinda miss that."
"I don't," Cersei says. "Being an adult is the best." I bet it is when you have a rich dad paying for everything and all you do is party.
We play cards for a while with Bronn periodically getting up to get more drinks for him and Cersei. He can handle his alcohol pretty well, but he is drinking quite a bit. I'm just glad he isn't fighting with Jaime, I was worried that might happen.
"I think I'm a little drunk," Bronn says. "Sorry, I didn't mean to drink this much."
"That's fine, you know I don't mind," Cersei says. "Do you want to stay over?"
There's a pause of awkward silence as Dany, Jaime and I look at wach other. Jaime is clearly trying to hold in his anger, he's not saying anythinf but he's definitely upset. Even Bronn takes a bit to respond because he's surprised that Cersei asked that.
"Sure," he finally says. He turns to Jaime. "Is that okay with you?"
"Whatever," Jaime says. "If you can't drive, you can't drive."
"Thanks man," Bronn says. "I appreciate you."
"Don't worry," Cersei says, smirking. "We'll try to keep it down." Bronn blushes, I didn't think he ever got embarassed.
Things are getting a little awkward here, especially with how tense things are with Cersei and Jaime. They aren't good at pretending like everything is okay.
"It's getting kinda late," Dany says to me as we're all still sitting around. "Do you want to head out?"
"Sure," I say. "You're probably right."
"Bye guys," Dany says as we start to get up. "Thanks for letting us chill."
"Bye," Jaime says. "Have a good night."
We ride home in silence, but not for any bad reason. I can just tell that Dany is really tired after a long work day.
"Is it that awkward normally with them?" I ask Dany after we walk into our apartment.
"Lately, yes," she says. "It was so tense when I was staying there last weekend."
"I'm sorry," I say, sitting on our bed and taking my shoes off. "If I had known that, I wouldn't have been as okay with you staying there."
"It's whatever," she says, shrugging. "This happens whenever one of them starts seeing someone else, their relationship has always been insanely unhealthy."
"Yeah, you can say that again."
"Thanks for putting up with them," Dany says as she starts getting changed. "I really didn't think you would want to."
"I wanted to give it a shot," I say. "Jaime isn't all bad, he seems like a good guy. Bronn and Cersei are worse, no offense."
"It's really fine," Dany says. "Jaime has a good heart, he has good judgement when he's not so wrapped up in Cersei's spell."
Dany gets in bed and I lay next to her. She starts touching me, we're just in our sleeping clothes and I'm in my underwear. I end up going down on her, which she seems to enjoy.
"Do you want to do stuff?" Dany whispers.
"Mm-hm," I say, coming up to kiss her. "Defintiely."
We end up having sex and then we fall asleep. I'm really glad we have each other. We can lean on each other when her friends are being toxic or my family is being hard to deal with, which isn't something I've ever had. I had Sam and the other guys of course, but this is different.
I hope I never lose her. That's part of the reason I'm trying to put up with her friends more, they mean a lot to her and that was a problem in our relationship before. I'm glad she's distancing herself from Cersei with how toxic she's gotten, but it wouldn't kill me to be friendly towards them once in a while.
