Zelda's POV

I entered Gerudo desert with Impa, my knight, the Hyrulian Royal guard, and the heroes of the past.

The heroes have told us stories of their adventures on our journey south.

I was hanging on every word.

How Twilight was just a simple goatherd before his childhood friend and the children of his village were kidnapped. But when he tried to save them, he got dragged into the responsibility of 'Hero'.

How Time's father figure was ill and needed his help, but died anyway. So Time carried out his final wishes and left his home, met the Princess of destiny, and also got unwillingly dragged in being a hero.

Wind's sister was kidnapped which caused him to leave his home with a boat full of pirates to save her.

I marveled at them all.

All of the past heroes had lived such simple lives before they were a hero.

I barely noticed when we arrived at Gerudo town, because Legend was telling me of how he'd been wrongly accused.

But Impa grabbed my arm before I walked straight into a Gerudo spear.

I gulped and followed the spear to the woman wielding it.

I sensed the heroes and knights grabbing their weapons. I gestured for them to stand down.

I smiled kindly.

The Gerudo didn't smile back.

I faltered. "It's okay. The men will stay outside, me and my attendant, Impa just want to talk to lady Urbosa.

The spear stayed level with my chest.

Something was definitely wrong.

"Leave." The Gerudo said stiffly. "We have orders to kill the Princess."

Impa pulled me behind her, reaching for her weapons. The heroes and knights unsheathed their swords.

That was all the encouragement the Gerudo women needed.

They barged toward me.

Link blocked a blow with his sword and redirected it away from me.

I wasted no time.

"Run!" I shouted.

I sprinted through the sand, the others keeeping pace with me the whole time.

Terrako beeped as he ran side-by-side with Link.

Link, Impa, Terrako, the heroes and I ducked behind a boulder as a few Gerudo guards ran past us.

Impa looked over the boulder and ducked down once she saw that they were still there.

"But why?" Impa asked as she held Terrako. "Why are they Gerudo attacking us?"

I watched a Gerudo guard run in the opposite direction of us.

"Urbosa will surely be able to explain everything if we can reach her." I said.

Everyone nodded and leap out from behind the rock and engaged themselves in the fight as we tried to make our way to Gerudo town.

I hesitated for a moment, clutching the Sheikah slate before, I too, joined the battle.

We fought through hordes of Gerudo.

We didn't fight to kill, of course, but the Gerudo did.

I bit back from crying out and a spear sliced a deep gash in my arm. It will definitely scar.

We took down Gerudo captain after Gerudo captain.

I heard a voice calling from inside the nearby settlement. But that surely couldn't be Urbosa… couldn't it?

I saw an opening, and with Impa, Link and several other guards I rushed into the town.

I just barely heard Warriors shout, "It's a trap!" Before the trap sprung.

The doors closed in on us.

The only way to open them again was to take the keep.

I felt a stab of guilt in my heart as I took down the Gerudo, like I had with the Rito.

There must be some sort of misunderstanding. The Gerudo wouldn't attack us… right?

I had very mixed feelings as I ran toward the throne room with my companions right behind me.

I got the answer to all of my questions when I entered the Gerudo throne room.

Urbosa, the Gerudo tempest sat in her throne her eyes closed.

"Urbosa!" I called when we entered.

The guards crossed their spears, preventing us from reaching her.

"Why?" I asked my mother figure. "What are you doing?"

It was only when she stood us that I noticed the uncharacteristically cold expression on her face.

"Thwarting your destiny, of course…."

This wasn't Urbosa. Zelda decided as Urbosa pointed the scimitar of the seven at her.

"Princess Zelda."

If I didn't know that that was an imposter, I would've figured it out then. Urbosa never called me 'Princess' she rarely even called me by Zelda.

Instead she preferred to call me by a nickname; 'Little bird'.

The fake Urbosa rushed forward when the guards removed their spears.

Legend started to push me behind him. But he needn't have done that.

For when the fake Urbosa raised her spear… the sound of snapping fingers rang through the air.

A lightning bolt rained down and struck the fake Urbosa. Causing her to fall to the ground, twitching.

The Gerudo guards looked on in fear and confusion.

"I came back as quickly as I could… " I looked behind me and saw the true Urbosa, entering the room. "Not exactly what I expected to find."

"Urbosa." I said, with full certainty.

"I hope you're not hurt… little bird." She said kindly.

I smiled from my position next to Legend. The pink-haired hero still had his sword in hand, as did the others. They were still suspicious.

But with a simple gesture they accepted Urbosa as a friend, not a foe.

"I'm not!" I said to Urbosa, the real Gerudo tempest.

But then, in a flash of smoke and cards the fake Urbosa turned into someone completely different.

This time, Legend immediately pulled me behind me, tightening his grip on his bronze sword.

The smoke and cards disappeared and a far little man in a red suit and Yiga mask lay on the floor.

"You've got some nerve thinking you can go toe to toe with… MASTER KOHGA!" The man stood up.

"Great." Legend whispered to himself. "Wild said how underwhelming he is, time to see if the little gremlin was lying."

I barely registered his words, recognizing the man. This was Master Kohga, the 'top banana' of the Yiga clan.

"I'll show YOU…" He said in what he must've thought was a threatening way. Kohga shoved his hands forward and Yiga teleported in behind him.

The Gerudo, heroes, knights, and Impa turned their weapons on him. While Urbosa drew her scimitar and held it in front of her.

I was pushed to the back of the crowd. Legend didn't leave my side.

A ominous red light shone on Kohga from no where. Kinda impressive.

"YIGA, ASSEMBLE!" He shouted. "Me excluded of course." He added in a undertone before teleporting away.

"I was right" Legend whispered, making me giggle lightly.

The Yiga looked around in slight confusion before we engaged them in battle.

The fight itself was a blur.

I remember Urbosa coming up with an idea, lure the Yiga out in the open and then leave them for the Moldulga.

I also remember Legend never leaving my side. For what reason, I don't know.

Finally we drove all the Yiga away with the giant monster of the sand.

We cornered Kohga against a rock pillar sticking out of the sand.

"Gah! How could these losers defeat me?!" He asked himself.

Legend voiced a very colorful reason under his breath. Only I heard it.

Urbosa pointed her scimitar at the cornered Yiga. She looked like she was about to finish him off when she looked up and gasped.

Another Yiga appeared. (A/N: I'm not describing Sooga)

He ran down the pillar, unsheathing his swords on the way down.

He landed blade-first on Urbosa's scimitar.

She managed to shove him back.

He held both of his weapons parallel to the other and charged toward Link's side.

Link tried to mimic Urbosa but was thrown back.

Urbosa pressed her blade against his that were now in the shape of an 'X'.

He used his swords to send a shockwave toward Link and Urbosa, who both stopped it with their shields. But stumbled back.

The Yiga sheathed his swords and turned to Kohga.

"Master Kohga." he said in a gruff voice.

"Sooga," Kohga said. "you're late! I nearly got peeled like a banana!"

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. The Yiga and their bananas. How ridiculous.

Sooga simply picked Kohga up and turned to face us.

His face was blocked by a Yiga mask with a scratch through it.

I could tell Impa didn't like seeing the inverted symbol of her people.

"Forget these cowards. It's time to retreat." Sooga said.

Urbosa charged toward them. "I think not!"

But they were already gone.
