The next day arrived. The cell phone rang in Potsie's bedroom at nine o'clock. Potsie was still there, so he answered it.
"Hello?" Potsie asked.
It turned out to be Richie. He was in Ohio, so he was touring for his newspaper column.
"Hi, Potsie," Richie said.
"Hi, Richie. I haven't heard from you in a while," Potsie said.
"I know. I thought I would call and say hi and see what you were up to," Richie said.
"I'm not doing much, but I'm back to work," Potsie said.
"Again? That's all you ever do is work."
"It's a new record."
"Are you in Milwaukee?" Richie asked.
"No. Memphis," Potsie said.
"What are you doing there?" Richie asked.
"I'm working on a record and somebody thought we should do this record together, so I fell for it."
"Good idea. Have you started on it yet?" Richie asked.
"Yes. Just yesterday."
"Cool. How does it feel to work with someone famous?" Richie asked.
"Nothing special. It's fun so far. He's family, so we're just having fun with a record that we've never done before," Potsie told Richie.
"I had no idea you two are family. How did that happen?" Richie asked.
"My daughter, Stephanie, married one of his cousins, so that's how we're related."
Potsie asked Richie how he was doing.
"I'm out in Ohio for a book tour. I have no idea who this author is, so I'm going to find out pretty soon. I heard her name, but she's pretty popular."
"If you give me the name, but I'll be familiar with her. What's the name?" Potsie asked.
Richie told him.
"You must keep up with these people then," Richie said.
"I don't, but I just know the name you mentioned," Potsie said.
"I have to be at the mall in two hours so I can be there," Richie said, looking at the clock in the hotel room.
"Have you been talking with Ralph and Fonzie lately?" Potsie asked.
"On and off. They're doing fine. Ralph's still teaching piano at Jefferson High, so he's having fun there," Richie said.
"That's good to hear. Does he still have that girlfriend of his?" Potsie asked.
"Yes, he does. They've been together for six months now. He wants to marry her, is what he's been saying, but doesn't know the right time to ask her," Richie said.
"Wasn't she the same one who took care of him when I was his sub at the high school a while back?" Potsie asked.
"Yes, Potsie."
He and Richie stayed on the phone for a while longer, and then Richie had to leave. They hung up after saying good - bye.
Note: I found this in a document I forgot I had, so I should have fun with it.
