Background: Minato Namikaze was not appointed the Fourth Hokage, instead Hiruzen Sarutobi remained the Third Hokage to serve as the leader until his death. In this world Obito died during the Third Great Ninja war and Madara Uchiha dying as well. No one attacked Kushina while giving birth and Naruto grows up with a family. The Uchiha Massacre never occurs as without the Nine-tails attack suspicion never befalls the Uchiha. The Akatsuki does not exist.
Chapter 1- The first day of the rest of your life
Konohagakure
Deep in the Land of Fire sat Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village. Konoha has a Kage as its leader known as the Hokage, of which there have been three in its history. Hiruzen Sarutobi is the current Hokage.
Konoha resides deep within a forest at the base of a mountain known as the Hokage Rock, which has the faces of all those who have taken the office of Hokage engraved on it. The village is surrounded on all sides by enormous walls. Konoha is generally seen as the most powerful of the ninja villages. The village had been in relative peace for only a few years since the 3rd Great Ninja War. But that all changed.
The attempted kidnapping of the Hyuga heiress by the Hidden Cloud village had taken place 7 years ago. Since the incident a peace deal had not been made. Small scuffles had begun at the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Lightning at the time but they then intensified. The Village was at the brink of war for about a year, until a Leaf Shinobi killed a high ranking member of the Hidden Cloud Village, therefore causing war to break out.
Although war was upon them, the village remained at peace, children laughed and civilians walked about their normal day. The Village's ninja were on high alert the number of Shinobi by the gate had doubled with only supplies and restricted travel allowed in and out of the village. Most missions which used to be C and D rank outside the village have become above B-rank due to the risk of attack from enemy ninja.
In the center of the village sat a narrow white home connected to the other homes and buildings beside it. Opening the brown door led to a simple and traditional home.
The home held a young family, 34 year old Minato Namikaze, he was tall with spiky blonde hair, with jaw length bangs framing his face, blue eyes, and tan skin. Minato known as the Yellow Flash was a genius a prodigy. Whispered to become the next Hokage, a legend, and a man feared by other nations. Minato was an Elite Jonin and former member of the Anbu. He was constantly on secretive high ranking missions. Minato had recently been promoted as the Commander of the Shinobi on the front lines, a prestigious position. Minato had become busier than ever lately. He answered directly to the Hokage and took part in strategizing and tactics to have the village become victorious.
Minato was married to Kushina Uzumaki, a member of the Uzumaki clan. Kushina had long red hair, violet eyes, and fair skin. She was the current Jinchuriki and an elite Jonin. Kushina had halted from active duty when her son was born. Due to her status as a Jinchuriki Kushina has been taking missions outside the village in secret and a few times has come out to the front lines due to the village needing her power.
Their only son was named Naruto Namikaze and was currently 10. He had spiky blonde hair, blue eyes, and tan unblemished skin, the spitting image of his father, although he held a few qualities of his mother.
Today was an important day. It was the first day of the rest of his life.
Naruto slept peacefully in his blue bedroom when suddenly the alarm next to his bed rang.
Naruto jumped out of bed. He had a necklace with a small red pendant, the pendant was the shape of an Uzumaki spiral. Naruto wore a mesh shirt under a black jacket which he left unzipped and open. He had black pants and black sandals. Naruto's ankles were wrapped in white-tape. He has a holster strapped to his right leg and a weapons pouch on his back waist. Naruto picked up his black Konoha head band, placing it on his forehead. Naruto's hair on his right side hung over his forehead protector.
Naruto stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked into the kitchen and made himself lunch which he packed away for later. He sat and ate a simple breakfast.
His home drowned in silence. Both his parents have constantly been away with Naruto gaining very little face time with them over the last 5 years.
Naruto held his parents in high regards as both were high-ranking ninja in the village.
Naruto's father was a commander and as such held an important role in the Hidden Leaf's military. His father was an advisor the Hokage and to many would be the next leader of the village. Naruto's mother was an amazing ninja as well, going on high-ranking missions. He wished to follow in there foot-steps and be a great Shinobi.
Naruto spent his time alone and put an emphasis on himself to train. He read secret scrolls and spent years perfecting his technique. Naruto was a quiet boy and spent little time with friends outside of training. Naruto was a child with natural talent but put in the work to make himself great. He had a high affinity to wind ninjutsu and a love for Taijutsu. Naruto trained himself into the ground daily with no one knowing his current level nor the extent of his potential.
Academy
Naruto walked into the classroom. It was relatively calm today, considering all the Genin were brimming with excitement.
Naruto chose the left back corner of the room by the window.
A boy sat next to him, smirking at the young blonde.
The boy in question was almost head shorter than the blonde. He had has black eyes and spiky black hair with a blue tint. He wore navy blue, short-sleeved shirt with a high collar, the Uchiha clan crest on his back, white shorts, and white arm warmers.
"Sasuke" Naruto stated
"Naruto" the boy, Sasuke said back as they smirked at one another.
Naruto and Sasuke have both been the top of the class since they had begun the Academy. They were best friends, as they trained together on occasion. They had both hoped to be teamed together, as it made the most sense, knowing each others skills. For Naruto, Sasuke was his only friend, the one peer whom he could spar on an appropriate level as well as relate to.
Sasuke was the second son of the Uchiha clan head, Fugaku, who was also the head of the police force. His mother Mikoto and Naruto's mother Kushina have been friends since childhood as well. Sasuke's brother Itachi was the heir apparent and a prodigy. He graduated at the age of 7, a Chunin at 10, and by 13 an Anbu Captain. Sasuke like Naruto was put into others shadows whether it be a parent, sibling, or clan affiliation.
"They better put us with a good teammate. I don't want to be with some Dobe" Sasuke grumbled. Naruto smiled, "So confident we're going to be on the same team" Naruto asked raising an eyebrow.
"Like I said the other day it would be stupid on the village's part to not" Sasuke stated confidently.
A Chunin instructor, Iruka Umino walked in and stood at the front stating "Quiet" Naruto observed everyone listen to the scarred ninja as he gained the attention of the class.
"Today you are all officially Shinobi, Genin of the Hidden Leaf Village" Iruka began.
"You have been put in teams of 3 and will gain a Jonin Sensei, after that you will wait here for them to retrieve you"
Everyone listened quietly as the teams were called out.
"Team 7, Naruto Namikaze" Naruto's ears perked up, "Sakura Haruno" a girl with pink shoulder length hair and green eyes looked up.
"and Sasuke Uchiha" Naruto and Sasuke smirked at each other.
Sakura was wearing a red qipao dress with short sleeves, a slits along the sides accompanied by a zipper and white circular designs. She had on tight dark blue bike shorts with a shuriken holster around her right thigh, blue sandals, and the standard Konoha red forehead protector worn as a hairband.
Sasuke groaned. "Don't want be with the love of your life" Naruto asked grinning. They were both very aware of the pink haired girl infatuation with Sasuke.
"Ugh at least we're together" the dark haired boy muttered.
"I didn't know you felt the same way toward her" Naruto stated holding in his laugh.
Sasuke turned red "I don't, I mean't you and I" .
"I think we should just be friends" Naruto said laughing as Sasuke turned brighter red continuing to splutter.
"Team 8, Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka, and Shino Aburame" Iruka announced.
Naruto watched the new team "Ah a tracking team, with Shino's bugs, Kiba's nose, and Hinata's eyes their perfect for both sensory and tracking purposes" he thought. Naruto understood the team's purpose just like his own new squad.
The rest of the teams were called and they sat waiting for the instructor.
One by one the other teams left.
"Why is our Sensei taking so long" Sakura stated agitated.
"Maybe we should go get lunch" Sasuke suggested.
"I'll wait here" Naruto started, "Wouldn't want to interrupt your date" Naruto said with a smirk toward Sasuke, who groaned in response.
Sakura had hearts in her eyes 'A date' She thought. "I'll do whatever you want, Sasuke" she said in a loving tone, blushing.
Sasuke look uncomfortable, when Naruto almost burst out laughing but kept his composure as he walked away.
