After everyone had eaten, they all gathered back in the throne room.
"There is something we must tell you." Athena says. "The price-"
"We know mother" Annabeth says. "It is very literal."
Athena nodded. "Alright then. Let's get started. Who's reading?"
"I will." Zeus volunteers, summoning the book.
MY DINNER GOES UP IN SMOKE
"Yes! The offerings." Apollo says happily.
Word of the … much dripping wet.
"It was both." Will confirmed.
She showed me a few more places: the metal shop (where kids were forging their own swords),
"The best place in camp." Leo says. "Except maybe Bunker 9."
Hephaestus looked up at that. They had found Bunker 9. Something serious must have been going on in the future then.
the arts and-crafts … to the top fast enough.
"That's so dangerous." Hazel says staring at the camp half-blood demigods.
"Nah." Travis says.
"It's fun!" Connor exclaims.
Hazel just stared at them like they were crazy.
Finally we returned …"It wasn't my fault."
"It kind of was dude." Jason says snickering.
"I'm coming for you tomorrow." Percy points.
Everyone blinked, forgetting about the planned fight between the big three children, Percy and Clarisse, and Percy and Ares.
It was going to be interesting.
She looked at me …with the plumbing.
Everyone started laughing, even the most serious gods turning up a smile and chuckling a bit.
Travis and Connor smirked at Percy who saw them.
"Don't you dare."
"Too late."
"You need to … I'll ask Chiron."
"But-" Piper started.
"This was before." Annabeth cuts off.
Piper just nods confused.
I stared into the lake, wishing somebody would give me a straight answer for once.
"Why isn't anyone answering your questions?" Hades asked.
"I have no idea." Percy says.
I wasn't …were a long-lost friend.
"They probably sense who you are." Poseidon says.
"That makes sense." Frank nods.
"I'm still wondering why it took them so long to figure out who your dad was." Thalia says agreeing with what Will had said earlier. "I mean the toilets should have been a dead giveaway."
I didn't know …I want to go home now."
"That's what made you want to go home?" Athena asks incredulously
Percy shrugged. "A lot had happened that day. That was the last straw."
Athena nodded slowly at the response. It made sense.
Annabeth frowned. …for kids like us."
"Hey!" The camp Jupiter demigods shouted.
"We didn't know about you!" Annabeth defended.
"Valid." Frank concedes.
"Why are you all together." Hephaestus asks.
The demigods looked to each other.
"I don't think that's something we can spoil." Percy says after a moment.
Hephaestus hmphs as a small fire starts in his beard.
"You mean, …and half-what?"
"This is taking you forever." Clarisse says. "At this point almost everyone understood."
"I think you know."…"God," I said. "Half-god."
"You got it!" Nico announces.
Annabeth nodded. … in the last few millennia?"
The gods blushed at that statement. They wanted to reprimand the girl, but she was right. Hera glared at them all.
"But those are just-" …on a sensitive subject.
"At the time, yes." Annabeth says.
"What's happened?" Athena asked looking to her daughter.
"We didn't get a long for a few years." Is all Annabeth says.
"My dad is a …"Cabin six."
"How's he supposed to know what that means?" Thalia asks.
Annabeth blushed. "Shut up."
"Meaning?" …my mother. She knew."
Poseidon nodded. Sally did indeed know. He had told her who he was and who Percy would be.
"You shouldn't tell the mortals who we are." Zeus scolds.
"Cry me a river brother." Poseidon says waving his hand.
Zeus looked offended as the demigods snorted. They'd never seen the gods like this. Especially the romans. It was quite entertaining.
"Maybe not, Percy. Gods don't always reveal their identities."
"My dad would have. He loved her."
"Still do." Poseidon smiles wistfully.
"What about your wife?" Hera asks.
"She knows." Poseidon tells her. "She also knows she can't do anything about it."
Hera shakes her head disappointed.
Annabeth gave me a … They ignore us."
Zeus pauses reading. "It is the way it must be."
The demigods jump as Percy jumps up glaring. "Bullshit."
"Percy." Annabeth grabs his hands.
Percy glared for a moment longer before sitting down. But he continued talking. "Maybe if you hadn't ignored your kids we wouldn't be where we are now. We wouldn't have lost the people we did."
Annabeth rubs his shoulder.
The others watched shocked, only just now realizing how the Titan War had affected Percy. How any of what he'd done affected him, he was so good at hiding everything.
The gods looked at the boy shocked. No one had spoken like to the king of the gods in a long time. Poseidon looked to his son concerned.
Clarisse walked over and muttered something in Percy's ear, who calmed slightly after she pulled away. He nodded at her and she went back to her seat. Annabeth mouthed a 'thank you'
It was silent for a moment longer.
"Continue if you will." Dionysus drawls, seeming to not care about what had just happened. He did, but he'd never tell that to anyone.
I thought about … gods should behave better.
Percy just glared again, daring anyone to say otherwise.
No one did.
"So I'm stuck here… real powerful force.
Katie and Piper looked to Annabeth who blushed.
"Sorry guys."
The two looked at each other and laughed.
"Forgiven."
The monsters …."So monsters can't get in here?"
"They aren't supposed to anyway." Clarisse scowls. "Didn't stop them."
Annabeth shook …"Practical jokes?"
"Not anymore." The Stolls announce.
"Not after. Well. We'll find out in like half an hour." Clarisse says.
Percy cringes. This wasn't going to be fun at all.
"The point is… like a college ring.
"That's a much less painful way of keeping track." Hazel says looking to her arm.
"You got that right." Percy says with a grimace, remembering when he got his tattoo.
It was just then that the gods noticed that Percy had the SPQR tattoo on his arm.
What was going on in the future. That a Greek. Would have a Roman symbol.
"I've been …they're all in college."
"Why were you there so young?" Athena asked.
"Like I said. Me and my parents didn't get a long for a while." Annabeth says.
"Why did you … now if I wanted to?"
"Not recommended." Dionysus says, flipping a page. "You'd most likely die outside of camp."
The demigods stared at him.
"Does he care?" Travis asked.
"Certainly not Tanner." Dionysus responds.
"It would be suicide… time hadn't gone well.
"It didn't." Travis grimaces remembering how angry Luke had been coming back. He had changed after that.
"Back in the sick room," I said, "when you were feeding me that stuff-"
"Ambrosia."
"Good stuff." Apollo says summoning some.
"Yeah. You asked …seemed so normal."
"You've been to Olympus?" Hazel asks jealous.
"Yeah we all have." Percy says. "The winter solstice meetings and well…" He trailed off.
"Let's just say that sometimes we were forced to be there." Annabeth finishes.
"I wish we could go to Olympus." Frank mutters.
"You've been to Olympus?" … are a New Yorker, right?"
"There's six hundred floors?" Frank asks.
"Yup!" Grover nods.
Frank mouths 'what?'
"Oh, sure." As far …important was stolen.
All the gods looked to each other suspiciously. Who had stolen what and from whom?
Sensing the rising tension in the room the demigods internally groaned. Once they figure out what had happened it was going to get interesting. Possibly violent.
And if it isn't … might know something."
"When do we ever know anything?" Percy asks.
"You have a point there." Annabeth says.
"Basics and run." Thalia adds.
I shook my head… any more questions.
Percy sighed, feeling heavy and tired again. He wished he could take a nap.
"I've got to get a quest… drawing a battle plan.
"Yeah I was." Annabeth confirms.
"You wouldn't be Annabeth if you didn't." Thalia says.
Back at cabin eleven… mischievous smiles.
"What I want to know is since when did Percy get so observant?" Thalia teases.
"Since the beginning." Percy deadpans. "You just didn't notice."
The others snorted at Thalia's shocked face.
They were the kind … about the stealing part.
"Probably not." Connor says.
"You shouldn't steal." Hera sniffs.
"It's kind of inevitable." Leo says shrugging.
I said, "Thanks." … It doesn't get any easier."
The gods frowned. They didn't get a good feeling about this boy. Hermes just looked sad, knowing what was going to happen to his son.
The bitterness in … wing-footed messenger guy."
Hermes laughed. "Haven't heard that one before."
"That's him. Messengers. … lot on his mind.
"Sadly, I think he did." Thalia winced.
"Yeah." Percy nodded.
"You ever meet your dad…care of each other."
Annabeth snorted.
"He did in the end." Percy tells her. "Remember that."
Annabeth sighed. "You're right. Sometimes I just remembered all the pain he caused."
He seemed to … for me all day.
"That's kinda sad Perce." Nico says.
"Shut up death breath." Percy says.
I decided to ask him … "I hate prophecies."
"Me too." All the demigods said.
"So much." Percy mutters. "What happens if we ignore a prophecy?"
The demigods looked to each other a bit nervously.
"Percy?" Jason asked
"Just wondering what would happen."
"Nothing good." Apollo says. "Usually the absolute worse outcome."
"hmm." Percy hummed.
"Don't even think about it Percy," Grover says, feeling his friend's emotions.
Percy waved his hand. "I'm not I'm not."
After a moment of silence Zeus decided to keep reading.
"What do you mean?" …special came to the camp."
"Someone special came along all right." Thalia teased.
"Shut up." Annabeth says.
"I don't think I will."
"Somebody special?" … never heard one before.
"You're a son of the sea of course you'd know." Poseidon smiled.
"That's so cool." Apollo, Leo, Travis and Connor say.
Luke yelled, "Eleven, fall in!" … silver as the sun went down.
Artemis smiled at the mention of her cabin. She wondered how her hunters were doing.
We marched up … nymphs and naiads.
"But there's so many more." Piper says confused but then shakes her head. "This was before that's right."
"You got it." Annabeth smiles.
At the pavilion, …half my butt hanging off.
"Why don't you all eat together?" Frank asked.
"I.. don't know." Thalia says. "That would be nice though."
"We could talk to Chiron." Katie says.
I saw Grover sitting … too small for a centaur.
"Should make Chiron his own table." Leo says.
"I'm sure he'd appreciate that." Dionysus says.
"I can't tell if he's being sarcastic or not." Leo stage-whispers.
"Me either." Connor whispers back.
Dionysus just flipped yet another page.
Annabeth sat at … "To the gods!"
"To me!" Apollo shouts. A second later. "OW!"
Artemis smirked, lowering her pillow.
Wood nymphs came … "Blue Cherry Coke."
"You and blue food." Annabeth says fondly.
The soda turned a violent shade of cobalt.
I took a cautious sip. Perfect.
"That sounds… interesting." Demeter mutters. "Milk is better. Goes with cereal."
"No one cares dear." Hades says with a blank stare.
I drank a … real place, then someday...
"There's no stopping you is there." Poseidon says.
"Nope." Percy says.
Hades feared for his immortal life.
"Here you go, Percy… dessert or something.
"Not quite." Will laughs.
"A dude can dream." Percy says.
"Come on," Luke told me. … They like the smell."
"It really does smell amazing." Aphrodite says.
"Indeed, it does." Artemis confirms.
"You're kidding." … tell me. Please.
"I will." Poseidon says.
I scraped a big …could live off that smoke.
"These two idiots over here tried." Artemis said pointing to Apollo and Ares.
"Hey!" Ares shouts.
The gods just gave him a look.
"Fine yeah it was stupid." Ares mutters.
"You talk as if we didn't find you two feasting at three in the morning a week in." Hephaestus announces.
The demigods all laughed. When the gods all got semi along, they were actually pretty cool. Who knew.
When everybody had … holds the laurels."
Clarisse cheered
"Not anymore!" Percy yells back.
"Fight me Jackson!"
"I already am, tomorrow!"
"You're going down."
"Their relationship is so weird." Katie mutters looking at the two.
A bunch of ugly cheering … silly campfire. Go on."
"I miss the campfires." Leo says.
"Yeah they were fun." Piper agrees.
"It has been a while hasn't it." Clarisse says. They hadn't had a campfire since the war started heating up. There was no time to slack off. Anything could happen at any time right now.
Everybody cheered…I felt that I was home.
The Greeks smiled, camp half-blood really was their home. Too bad it was under attack, and some of their best warriors were halfway across the world.
Later in the evening, … borrowed sleeping bag.
"It's always like that the first night." Katie says.
Percy nodded, slumping into Annabeth's side while yawning widely. "St'pid books." He muttered.
Annabeth chuckled and stroked his hair fondly.
My fingers curled …. to enjoy my new home.
"I don't like that." Poseidon said.
Percy just shrugged, sitting up a bit now that the effects of the chapter were wearing off.
"One more?" Artemis asked the room.
There was a general consensus of yeses, so Jason took the book to read next.
Percy, Annabeth, and Clarisse looked to each other nervously. This wasn't going to be fun.
