A filled glass of beer was placed down on the table making a clink sound against the surface. Grasping said glass between his fingers, the young man took another sip. He was sitting alone at a table next to the window. The sun was setting outside casting pink rays on the street below as it slowly sank into the horizon. A light breeze blew through the air bringing a chill with it as it ruffled his long brown hair.
The young man wore a simple white t-shirt, dark jeans, and sandals as he gazed out into space. His brow furrowed as a small frown appeared on his face as he pondered a thought. After a few moments passed he let out a deep sigh. "How dare she..." He spoke in a low voice, though no one else was paying attention to him anyway. As if it had been waiting for this moment, an image formed in front of the young man. Bulma.
His teeth gritted by her appearance. How dare she, he thought, how dare Bulma do this to me! Krad stared intently at Bulma's face and his hand clenched tightly around the glass. Why?! He was the most popular guy on campus. Everyone wanted to date him. He was a billionaire with countless millions of dollars in stock. He owned several luxury cars, many expensive vacations, and countless restaurants. Not only that, but he was also a talented man who knew how to sing and play the guitar. So why?! He had everything she could ever dream of. Why did you leave me?!
He stood up abruptly startling the rest of the patrons. His expression remained blank as he walked towards the door, leaving a trail of broken glasses behind him. The others watched as he left the bar, taking with him a cloud of steam.
Krad glared at the ground while walking. His chest tightened with anger as he stormed down the sidewalk. Deep down a part of him knew why she broke up with him. He slept with another woman, three times even. In all those relationships he was unfaithful to her. It wasn't like he didn't care about her at least a little. She always made him feel warm and fuzzy inside whenever she was near. But still, he couldn't seem to help himself from fulfilling his needs when it came to women.
But that wasn't what upset him about her breaking up with him. No, it was something else. Something far deeper than that. His hands balled into fists so tight that his nails dug into his palms. His mind playing back the scenes over and over again in his head of her shouting at him. Calling him name, after name, in such a hateful way. The look on her face… Her eyes seemed so angry and sad. He hadn't seen such emotion on her before.
That memory alone sent a shiver running down his spine. But at the same time, it angered him more than anything. He would make her pay for that! She would rue the day for calling him those ill things. His gaze hardened. She will.
But how? That question troubled him for some reason. Should he kill her? No. No, he should never do something like that. It was a horrible idea. A thought that crossed his mind was enough to send a shudder down his spine. No. That wouldn't do. I mean sure he hates her but killing her was wrong. Killing her was immoral. Ruin her reputation maybe? Yes, that would be nice. Yeah, he definitely should ruin her reputation. Humiliate her in the worst way possible. But what to do? His face scrunched as he tried to think of a solution.
It was then a thought struck him. Dragon Balls. Recall a time when he visited Capsule Corp that he overheard someone talking. Goku, he believed his name was. They were discussing with some old man about what to wish for when they asked a dragon Shenron, he learned that these wishing orbs could grant any wishes one desires. At the time, Krad had found it strange but he shrugged it off, figuring that it was some sort of fairy tail.
But…if what they say is true. If there are such things…then that gives him an idea. Krad's lips curled into a sneer as a grin spread across his face. A memory resurfaced from his past. A memory that gave him a good laugh just thinking about the situation. He remembered his first time meeting Goku when he was child that he had a tail protruding from his behind. He had thought it was some strange toy until later on when he discovered it actually was real. Ohh, how he laughed then. The best part was he wasn't alone, his colleagues laughed too. He laughed until he cried from laughter.
With all of this in mind he grinned widely and reached into his pocket. Pulling out his phone, he pressed a button and the screen lit up to life. Pressing the buttons quickly, Krad turned to his right as his car pulled up alongside him. He got in and drove away from the bar. His destination was the nearest and when the car stopped he turned the engine off, slowly exiting out of the car.
Krad's head snapped to the large Capsule Corp building and he strode towards the door. Once stepping inside he looked around. To this day, the layout of the building still confuses him a bit but by memory he knew how to get to the lab from the main door. Swiftly Krad made his way through the winding halls, eventually found the door but cautiously opened a crack to take a peek inside. Seeing nobody he opened the door fully and stepped inside, closing the door shut behind him.
'Okay, time to start looking.' He thought to himself. He quietly began searching through the drawers in the lab finding nothing but wrenches, various test tubes, and other random science objects. 'Alright, for as long as I've known her she's a smart cookie; surely she must have some kind of radar that can track these wishing orbs.' He mused to himself and continued his search. After going through five cabinets each, Krad moves onto the next drawer.
When he gets to the third drawer he finds a round steel device laying inside and he pulls it out, inspecting it, studying the thing carefully. The device was rounded in shape and fits his palm perfectly. A button was embedded on top with a strap wrapped around it and the screen was darkish green. This looks like a radar of some sort, he thought. Krad immediately puts the radar in his pocket without thinking.
He rolls his body around leisurely exits the lab, closing the door behind him. Suddenly his eyes blinked, alarmed by the sound footsteps heading his way. Glancing around wildly he searched for something, anything to hide himself in until his eyes landed at what looked like a louver door. Quickly he grabs hold of a metal bar and pulls, opening the door to reveal a closet. Krad enters and closes the door.
Then, with a quiet click, it closed. The footsteps grew closer along with a humming melody. Krad held his breath, and with enough build up courage he slightly opened the door and peeked outside. From where he was standing, he could see Bulma walking down the winding hall while singing softly under her breath.
Her hair was cut short and wore white shorts, blue socks, blue and orange shoes and a blue shirt that left her shoulders exposed underneath an open white coat.
Krad watches as she passes by, entering the lab and closing the door behind her with a click. Krad exits the closet then lets out a collective sigh of relief as he shuts the closet behind him, then strode through the hall.
Once he was at a far enough distance he began running down the hallway, exiting the building, getting back into his car. He leans back against the seat and lets out a deep sigh. Right hand digs into his pocket, pulling out the dragon radar. Bringing it up to his view.
"Okay," He says, staring at the screen. "Where do we go first?"
It took a full day to gather them all. Krad stood over the seven Dragon Balls that sat on the grass. They were small and each ball displayed the number of stars that signifies its respective number in the set. He cupped his chin as he thought hard. How does he activate them? Is there some kind of password? Or code to unlock them. It could be simple or complicated.
"I guess we have to figure it out somehow," Krad sighed. He paced around the seven balls while rubbing his chin. What should he say first? Hmm..what could possibly trigger it. He racked his brain trying to think of a suitable wording.
"How about this," He mumbled. He spread his arms wide and shouted. "Come forth, great dragon!"
Silence. The air hung heavily in the clearing. Nothing happens.
He tilted his head. "Um…please?" He raised a brow. Did it work?
Suddenly, the sky above plummeted into pitch blackness as if a blanket was being tossed over everything. The Dragon Balls began to glow with an ethereal light, and a streak of lighting shot upwards from him.
Krad craned his head back to watch the beam of light taking form. His eyes widened as though his heart was going to jump out of his throat. As the light faded away a massive dragon floated before him. It was four-fingered and had brown antlers, sharp teeth, green scaly skin, red eyes, a long serpentine body of mostly tail, long flowing whiskers/barbels, a long snout, crescent-shaped nostrils, and flowing green hair on his cheeks.
The dragon's red eyes slowly narrowed as they stared into the earthy eyes of Krad. The air surrounding them was filled with a thick tension as their eyes met.
"Wh-Who are you?" Krad stammered as fear crawled up his spine.
The Dragon's voice boomed throughout the entire forest.
"I am the Dragon Lord Shenron," said Shenron, voice reverberating off of the surrounding trees.
A chill ran down Krad's spine as he shuddered.
"I shall grant you any wish." Said Shenron. "Name your wish, and it shall be granted."
Krad blinked, stunned by the statement. Then, realization dawned upon him. He chuckled nervously as he scratched the back of his head. Well this is unexpected, he thought to himself with wide eyes, then shook his head.
"Shenron, this is my wish!" Krad announced loudly. "I wish for Bulma to be like Goku!"
The Dragon frowned in confusion.
"What about Son Goku you wished for her to be like?" Shenron inquired, arching a brow at the earthling.
Krad rubbed the back of his neck. "You know, like Goku."
Shenron figuratively shrugs and his eyes gleamed crimson. "I have granted your wish. Farewell!"
Krad brought his arm up to his eyes as he watched Shenron fly up into the air and disappear in a flash of light. A moment passed as Krad lowered his arm. He turns to look around, finding Shenron was gone and so were the Dragon Balls.
'Did it work?' Krad pondered to himself as he stared up to the clear night sky with unblinking eyes.
Bulma awoke with a yawn and stretched out her arms, her hands landing on the soft bed sheets. She blinked her eyes, adjusting herself. The room was dimmed, the curtains drawn covering the window. For a minute she lay still enjoying the peaceful feeling before she heard a rustle. Her eyes flickered over to her right side which happened to land on the bathroom door.
Slowly she sat up, stretching again as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and hopped off. Moving across the room she pushed the curtain aside and walked over to the bathtub. With a quick flick of her wrist, she turned on the head of the sink, running some cold water and repeatedly splashed her face with it.
Taking a deep breath, she let the water relax her tired muscles, her eyes falling shut, relaxing. She stayed that way for a minute and felt her mind begin to wander to thoughts of what project she was gonna work on today. Just before she could drift off into another world however she slowly opened her eyes only for her gaze to suddenly land on herself in the reflection.
For just a split second she paused, eyes glazed over in confusion.
The world around her was quiet. Her eyes widened as she looked back at her reflection. There stood a woman, who once had blue hair and blue eyes but now, they were black, like ink poured in water, and her hair, the one she loved most, was now black instead of blue. Behind said woman, a tail swished and swayed from side to side.
Bulma's pupils contracted and she blinked several times hoping that this was all just a dream, that when she opened her eyes her hair and said eyes would be blue again and her tail would be gone.
But Bulma knew better. This wasn't a dream. It was reality. She couldn't be any more awake than she already was right now. With all of this newfound knowledge, Bulma's thoughts whirled about her head like leaves caught on a windy day. It was only natural, considering what she was seeing before her eyes. It felt so surreal, so wrong, that Bulma found herself once again trying not to believe in what she saw because if this was some sort of cruel joke, it was certainly an elaborate one.
But that wasn't the only strange thing going on. A new thought began to creep over Bulma, a notion that her mind couldn't stop thinking about. It was so absurd she didn't even try. If anything, she tried desperately to push it away, trying to ignore it, but it persisted. For some reason, all Bulma could think about…was train?
It was this thought alone that Bulma came to a shocking conclusion. Someone had used the Dragon Balls and wished for her to be like…like…Goku!
Bulma screamed in shock and stumbled backwards, causing her to lose her balance. Her hand gripped at the sink counter as a sudden wave of nausea washed over her. She squeezed her eyes closed as she pressed both of her palms onto the counter. The urge to throw up was almost overwhelming, but she forced herself to remain upright. Slowly and carefully she removed her hands from the counter and stepped backward, letting out a shaky exhale.
"W...what? I mean….what? Who?" She was too flustered to even process much else at that point. She shook her head and tried to think of how this could've happened. The obvious answer was that someone must have used the Dragon Balls to make her like Goku, but how? No one couldn't have found them without a Dragon Radar.
Wait…Dragon Radar.
"Oh no…" Bulma murmured to herself. Immediately Bulma sprinted out of her bedroom and ran down the winding hallway. She was still in her pajamas, but the need to get to the lab was so strong; she barely registered where she was rushing to. All she knew was that she needed to get to the lab, right away.
Robots passed her now and then as they tidied the floor and walls. Eventually, Bulma found the door and yanked the handle open, stepping inside. Her head snapped to the drawer next to the desk. The same drawer from earlier this morning. The same one the Dragon Radar sat on top of. She raced over and ripped it open, her heart racing as she found Radar gone. It was nowhere to be seen.
Panic set in. She knew it, someone stole the Dragon Radar! But who? It can't be her friends, one of them would've asked before borrowing the Radar. So who could've taken it? And why would they wish for her to be like Goku?
With these thoughts in mind, Bulma searched frantically through the drawers, but her search only ended up with more empty drawers than she started with. In desperation, she reached into one last draw that rested behind some bookshelves. Nothing. Bulma groaned as she pulled out her hair, rubbing her eyes in annoyance.
"Ugh, this can't be happening!" She shouted frustrated, her tail lashing in agitation. "What am I going to do? I can't face my friends looking like this!"
She sighed and put her hands on her hips. Suddenly, a thought occurred to her. She can just gather the Dragon Balls to change back! No, she can't. The Dragon Balls are already used, she'll have to wait for another year for them to be used again. The sooner the Dragon Balls can be used and she changes back, the sooner things will return to normal and life can go back to the way it was.
She really hopes so.
New Chapter: Benefits of Training
A/N: And that's chapter 1 my little shimmerings! Just as the title says, Bulma is a half-&-half now. Half of her is still Bulma as we all know, while the other half has been ripped away and is now replaced with the Saiyan spirit just waiting to bloom through bravado, character, and attitude. And here's the kicker. Bulma's original power level was twelve when she was an earthling. But after becoming a Saiyan, with the combination of Goku's energy, her power level is now three-hundred-&-forty-six. Which I dare say, she has a bit more potential then Goku does now. But that's all for now, see you all in the next chapter and hope you have a good day!
