The stars don't lie
December 31st 1929.
The last night of the year always held a magical power itself, and the centaurs knew it better than anyone. Therefore a young Firenze and his old wise master Chironte were outside with an old telescope to see the skies.
The sky didn't have any clouds; it was clear, perfect for stargazing. Firenze had a parchment and a feather to take notes. His master was explaining a couple of things about some constellations.
"The humans are fighting right now, my young apprentice. The non-magical ones are in their second war and Albus Dumbledore and the rest of the magical world is fighting Grindelwald. Thankfully we aren't involve"
"Shouldn't we, master? I mean, won't this affect us?"
"No, Firenze" he said in a cold tone "Grindelwald is only looking for to destroy the non-magical humans"
"I see..." said the young centaur, ashamed of his stupid question.
His master noticed this and sighed "The human world isn't our business, it might affect us if the wrong man arrives to this world" he said calmly "now let's check the skies"
He nodded and walked to the telescope and looked up. They spend a good amount of time looking at some planets and taking notes. His master was really impressed by the knowledge his student already has.
When they were about to leave for dinner Firenze suddenly froze in place "Master, look at this"
The old centaur walked there and saw through the telescope and he also got frozen in place "This is a bad omen my young apprentice" he said "Gemini's constellation is on the same line as Pluto, something only happened when..."
"When... what, master?"
"When Grindelwald was born... but only the Pollux star is on the same angle as Pluto; the other, Callux, is far from it..."
"What does it mean?"
"It means that tonight the next dark lord was born, and he had a twin who will be good"
As if the universe was trying to warn the magical world of the upcoming fate of humanity, early that day, in the morning, an old seer had a vision, his name was Frederick Knowless. A man well known for this ability and right now he works as the divination's teacher at Hogwarts.
A young woman, on the streets, a couple of hours earlier had two sons, both with black hair and white skin. The man could feel coldness coming from one of them and warm from the other.
She was still bleeding from giving birth as she approached a muggle orphanage. The old man didn't recognize her since she didn't attend Hogwarts but could tell by her looks that she was a Gaunt.
"Please... Help me..." she said banging at the door, both boys laying on the floor, one crying and the other was silent, his face looked annoyed by the others crying which was odd since they were just an hour old.
The silenced one was giving him an odd feeling.
When the door was open some women ran to help her but she was too weak to stand up and she was able to say "These are... Tom Marvolo..." pointed at the silent baby then pointed at the other and whispers "and this is Salazar Morfin Riddle" and died there.
The orphanage took care of the two kids and called the hospital to take care of the mother's body.
Suddenly he woke up from the vision, sweat running on his forehead, but wasted no time and sent a letter to Albus Dumbledore who was chasing Grindelwald. While writing this he added a prophecy that came to his mind as he was writing.
Two boys will be born, twin siblings from a snake.
One will be bad, the other will be good.
One will try to destroy the world while the other will work to defend it.
The dark lord will meet his match and the world will be saved.
Albus read this and sighed knowing the implications of this. The world was at war, the magic community just saw Grindelwald escape after the election of a new president of the Supreme Leader of the International Confederation of Wizards. And still have to deal with a dark wizard and now they have to deal with another.
Thankfully the prophecy let it clear he will be defeated, which normally never happens.
Meanwhile in the orphanage the things got complicated. Because Tom was evil to the others while Salazar was good and helped them so when he finally got adopted, Tom became bitter and tormented them beyond evilness.
When Tom and Salazar were about to be eleven years old, Dumbledore and Knowless visited the two boys.
Dumbledore picked Tom since, according to the prophecy, he was the evil one and he wanted to make sure the prophecy was right.
He could tell he was a dangerous and evil wizard; he tried to look innocent when he realized that Dumbledore was telling the truth about his powers but he realized that he wasn't buying it so he just tried to look cool and asked questions about what to do in this school.
Tom and Salazar reunited in King Cross as some other kids helped them go through the platform 9¾.
Tom was sorted in Slytherin and Salazar was sorted in Gryffindor. To Dumbledore was no surprise since the two were so different.
Salazar was remarkable in Defense against the Dark arts. Dumbledore was their teacher a couple of times when the other teacher had to go to fight against Grindelwald as an auror.
Tom was looking for information about the horcruxes but never found the process to create one, so he asked his dear professor Slughorn about it and he could tell he was scared because it was dark magic for a fifteen years old boy but Tom didn't care, he needed to know, he was looking for immortality.
The next year, he discovered he was part of the Gaunt family which was a branch of Salazar Slytherin's family, so that led him to open the Chamber of Secrets and a student, Myrtle Warren was killed and other students got petrified by the Basilisk. Salazar approached Dumbledore.
"It was my brother... I'm sure"
"Why do you think so, Salazar?" Asked Dumbledore.
"Because he and I are descendants of Salazar Slytherin" he said looking at the professor "we made an investigation and it ended up being true, he thinks it's from our father's side but I'm not sure"
"Why? Because I heard the name Tom Riddle from muggles and there's a story about him being under some kind of curse that made him left his beautiful fiancé and date a pretty and poor girl named Merope Gaunt"
"Yes... The Gaunt were descendants of Salazar Slytherin... And can you understand parseltongue right?" The boy nodded "as you know the legend said that Slytherin built a secret chamber to hide a monster. It makes sense it would be a snake" Dumbledore looked at the boy "you may go now Salazar" he left and minutes later Tom arrived.
"Professor Dumbledore. I found who did this... I know who killed that girl" said Tom playing the role of a nice guy
"Who?" Dumbledore asked, playing along with him.
"Hagrid. He has a huge spider in the castle"
Dumbledore looked at him "are you sure?" He nodded "and are you sure you don't want to share anything else with me?"
"No sir" Dumbledore could only nod his head and call Hagrid and he had to expel him or they would close the school.
He didn't have enough evidence to prove that Hagrid wasn't guilty of this so he just could watch that innocent man walk away.
After this he created his first horcrux, his diary.
Years passed and the muggle war was over as well as the magical war after Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in an epic duel.
Tom was amazed but scared by how Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald, but he shouldn't since Dumbledore proved over the five years he was in Hogwarts that he was the best wizard alive.
When he arrived after receiving the First Grade Merlin Order, everyone clapped at him and when he passed Tom, his blue eyes were on him like reading his thoughts.
Then in the summer he found his mother's family, killed his uncle and made the second horcrux.
He and his brother graduated but Dumbledore and Salazar kept an eye on him. Salazar worked as an auror making sure he could protect the magical world from his brother.
But sadly, after years, a second prophecy arrived and Tom or Lord Voldemort, as he prefers to be called now, killed the Potters leaving behind an orphan. So Salazar joined the Order of the Phoenix and protected Harry in the shadows, making sure he would survive.
Salazar knew about the horcruxes and he told Dumbledore but couldn't find since they weren't sure what to look for, Salazar made sure to deliver the letter to Harry, knowing his uncle and aunt wouldn't let him read he was a wizard.
So from now on, Salazar would be a friend to Harry while Tom would be his enemy and he will make sure that the prophecies become true in the end.
