Percy was done. He couldn't do this anymore, as much as he loved Mr Brunner's classes and being friends with Grover and having Sally as a mom, he couldn't deal with it. So, during Christmas break, once everyone is asleep Percy packs a bag and leaves a letter for his mom, hidden in her work uniform.

Dear mom,

I didn't want to leave. And I'm sorry I did, but I couldn't stay any longer. I want you to know that I don't blame you and I am only leaving because of Gabe. Thank you for being awesome and being my mom.

Love, Percy

He had teared up writing it, and writing it took a while but he had been planning a long time so he had time to write the note (his dyslexia made it hard, nearly impossible).

So Percy left.

It had been a few days, Sally had contacted Chiron who said he would look out for him. While they were panicking, Percy was talking with a woman. It started like this.

"Your mother is very worried, young Perseus Jackson." A woman's voice said behind Percy and he whipped around.
"Who are you?" Percy demanded.
"My name is Kym. I have come to tell you the truth and to help you. You have a very dark future ahead of you, Perseus, unless I help you."

And so Kym told Percy everything. The gods, things they did, the heroes, monsters and what he was. It took a while for him to believe but when he did, Kym started teaching him everything.

It has been two days and Kym has taken him somewhere to learn how to fight.
"A demigod must learn how to defend themselves, otherwise, monsters will attack you and you will die. So everything you learn from me is vitally important and one day you will become the best swordsman the world has ever seen." Kym told him. And so the lessons began. Percy grew to love the fluidity of fighting, the feel of his sword in his hand, the rush of adrenaline. After they practised, she sat him down and gave him some water.

"You are very skilled, Perseus. However, the blade you wield may be viewed by some as being cursed. I told you the stories of Hercules but I did not tell you the story of this blade. This blade is known as Anaklusmos or in Ancient Greek, Riptide. You see, a nymph or Hesperides, and she was the daughter of the Titan Atlas and a water nymph. Her mother gifted her a brooch that held her power as well as the power of the sea. She gave it to Hercules and Hercules promised to give her credit because without her, Hercules wouldn't have been able to complete the quest. However, he didn't. Hercules did not give Zoe Nightshade credit and Riptide was eventually taken by our father, Poseidon. Zoe eventually joined Artemis' Hunters after being banished from her home." Kym explained, Percy hung onto her every word.

"That was a jerk move. She didn't deserve that." Percy said, frowning. Kym nodded.

That is the first chapter in my What If series. Basically, Percy ran away and Kym finds him and trains him in a few months and then Percy goes to Camp Half-Blood. I might try to rewrite the books but I don't know.
