Hey guys. Being born in the 90s, Disney movies were part of my childhood. There are many that I love that I couldn't name. Otherwise, I'm a big fan of Cinderella and The Rescuers. Celebrating 100 years of Disney Studios, I'm launching into this story where Jaq and Gus cross paths with the two detective mice and will help them save Penny. I find that Jaq and Gus are very resourceful mice. For fans of Disney movies, this story is for you.
Good reading.
Chapter 1: The Journey
In the heart of a dark and dangerous swamp, Devil's Bayou, an old river boat had run aground. As thunder rumbled through the night, a boat door creaked open. From the door came a little girl named Penny holding a teddy bear. She backed away, afraid of surprising her captor. On tiptoe, she avoided the two monstrous alligators that watched her. Was she trying to escape the boat?
No, the prisoner just dropped a bottle into the water. Someone would eventually find the message she had slipped inside and come and save her...
Who will rescue me?
Who will rescue me?
Who will rescue me?
I'm lost at sea without a friend.
This journey, will it ever end.
Who will rescue me?
Rescue me
Rescue me
Penny's bottle made a long journey. From Devil's Bayou, it arrived in New York, on the Hudson River, where it was fished out by three mice. When they saw the message, they understood that it was a mission for the Rescue Aid Society, a group of mice from all over the world, who helped people in distress.
In another world
Cinderella had long dreamed of meeting a prince who would love her madly and this dream had come true. She had married this prince, and today they lived happily together. Life had not been easy for her. Fortunately, she had been able to count on her mouse friends. Especially Jaq and Gus. Clever and resourceful mice. Today, Cinderella was living with her prince, and everything was going well for her. Now for the mice, life in the castle was monotonous. Jaq and Gus spent their time doing nothing. They both felt useless.
One day, the two friendly mice were standing on the dresser in Cinderella's room. The latter had gone for a walk with her prince. And Jaq and Gus didn't know what to do with their day.
"When will Cinderelly return?" asked Gus who was half asleep on the furniture.
Annoyed, Jaq replied firmly:
"I don't know. Stop asking me that all the time!"
"Wh-wh-what can we do now?"
Jaq sighed before retorting:
"Zugk-zugk! Cinderelly doesn't need us anymore! What can we do? Castle for big people! No place for mice! No place! Too big for us! Castle not like old house! We're no longer of any use, Gus-Gus!"
"If we can't help Cinderelly anymore, then let's help someone else," Gus suggested.
"Yeah, yeah, that's it, let's help someone else!" Jaq grumbled sarcastically. "Who? Castle doesn't need mice! We wish to help someone!"
Sparks of light appeared out of nowhere in the room, then the lights merged to reveal an elderly lady wrapped in a sky-blue cloak. The Fairy Godmother.
Jaq and Gus were stunned.
The lady inhaled happily.
"Here we go! What did I hear? Anyone want to help someone else? Jack! Gus! My darlings!"
"We don't know what to do anymore," explained Jaq. "Cinderelly's a princess. And princesses don't need mice. What can mice do in big Castle?"
"We're just looking for something to do," Gus added wearily.
The Fairy Godmother pretended to think before suggesting to them with a smile:
"What if I told you that you could help someone other than Cinderella? Anyone who needs help?"
At her words, both mice looked excited.
"Does anyone at Castle need mice?" Jaq asked, eager to know.
"Not here," replied the elderly fairy. "But in another world, there is a young girl who is held prisoner in a dangerous swamp. Her name is Penny."
"P-P-P-Penny?" Gus stammered.
"Who is Penny?" Jaq asked.
"A young girl who is looking forward to having a family. She would like to have a mom and a dad. But now, she is a prisoner of a terrible, malicious woman who wants to use her to find a rare treasure. She is very young, vulnerable, defenseless. And her captors have no pity or kindness towards her."
Cinderella's two mice seemed distraught at these revelations.
"P-p-poor Penny!" exclaimed Gus saddened.
Jaq nodded before asking:
"And no one to help her?"
"She sent a bottle to the sea in the hope that someone would discover her cry for help. And it was mice who found his message. And they might need both of you."
"You mean we can help Penny?" Jaq was surprised, excited again.
"Does that mean you wish to go and join the two mice to rescue this poor girl?" asked the Fairy Godmother with a smile on her lips.
"Yeah, let's go rescue Penny!" Jaq replied enthusiastically.
"Yeah, yeah, see Penny!" added Gus.
"Everything will be alright!" Jaq replied, laughing with joy. "Let's go straight away!"
"This is going to be a long journey for both of you," the Fairy Godmother warned them. "You will discover a new world that will be completely foreign to you."
"We helped Cinderelly and she's happy, now," explained Jaq. "Now it's Penny who needs us!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!" Gus continued, just as excited as his friend.
"Here we go," announced the Fairy, brandishing her magic wand. "And one last thing. Never forget this, if you feel that the situation is beyond your control: even the smallest thing can change the course of things. Remember that my friends."
Very jovial, she recited her magic spell:
Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo,
Put 'em together and what have you got!
bibbidi-bobbidi-boo,
Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo,
It'll do magic believe it or not!
bibbidi-bobbidi-boo,
Salagadoola means mechicka booleroo,
But the thingmabob that does the job is,
bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!
Salagadoola menchicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!
Put 'em together and what have you got,
bibbidi-bobbidi bibbidi-bobbidi bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!
And so it was that Cinderella's two mice disappeared into another world, under the joyful gaze of the elderly fairy.
"Good luck my friends. You will need it!"
New York
Jaq and Gus materialized on the streets of New York. The first thing they saw was that they were in a big city. The skyscrapers that towered over them. Cars. And the people. The two mice were almost crushed by a man passing by. Jaq had to drag Gus to prevent him from being stepped on. They quickly took refuge under a trapdoor so as not to be crushed.
"City too big! Much, much, much too big!" Jaq exclaimed, taken aback.
"H-h-h-how are we going to find Penny in all this?" Gus added.
"Are you looking for Penny too?" said a female voice near them.
Jaq and Gus turned to see two more mice joining them. A male and a female. The male wore a beret, while the female wore a purple toque. The two stared at Jaq and Gus, intrigued.
"Who are you and where are you from?" asked the female.
"My name's Jaq and he's Gus," Jaq introduced himself with pride. "We come from Cinderelly's Castle, and we come to help Penny who has been kidnapped."
"Cinderelly's Castle?" the male wondered, without understanding.
"Well… and how do you know about Penny?" asked the female. "You don't come from Rescue Aid Society?"
"No, what's it?" Gus asked, taken aback.
"We help people in distress,' explained the male. 'We have to rescue Penny. And how do you know her?'
"Zugk-zugk. We were told she was having troubles, and we want to help people," Jaq continued.
"So, you can join us," suggested the female mouse. "There is strength in numbers."
But her partner wasn't convinced.
"Um… Miss Bianca, I don't think…"
"Come on, dear… there's strength in numbers. We'll be better able to save Penny if there are more of us."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah! We'll follow you," Gus suggested.
"Who are you, guys?" Jaq asked, perplexed.
"Oh, excuse us for this rudeness." apologized the female mouse. "I'm Miss Bianca. And my co-agent Bernard."
"Zugk-zugk Okay, Bernard and Miss Bianca," Jaq said enthusiastically. "Need something? Ask Jaq!"
Thanks for reading.
This is it. Jaq and Gus meet The Rescuers. In the next chapter, they will begin their investigation by going to Penny's orphanage.
