Hello peeps!

This is my first ever story and it is heavily influenced by a lot of amazing works on this site like Viva01's Hard Enough, Fuggmann's Borne of Caution, Flamclawsxx's Villainous Ventures, Jordinio's Pokemon: Jordinio Version! and Upper Moon's Eye's An Unlikely Partner

if you haven't read any of those I can't recommend them enough! they are amazing and the authors are ridiculously good! after reading their work my mind would not stop spinning a tale of similarity and I just had to post it up here to try and join the greats above! please lemme know what you think and I hope you enjoy!

Prologue: The start of the Path

Thunder crashed in the distance as a young man walked through the normally lush forest, the darkened paths sharing the sky's dark mood.

he kept pace regardless of his surroundings, even as the sky opened up with a torrential downfall.

lightning crashed and the shadows of the forest stretched for a moment as if trying to reach for the man, yet he cared not,

he simply kept walking, he pulled down the cap of his hat slightly to shield his face from the rain but otherwise, he was indifferent

to the overall mood of his surroundings.

he wore a dark green hiking vest over a plain black top and bottom combo, a large rucksack on his back and wore a dark green cap with

a very particular symbol on its front. the symbol was of a circle divided in half, the bottom half white and the top red, a symbol

universally recognised as a Pokeball. on the waist of the young man lay a single Pokeball holding one of the many unique and wonderful

creatures that could be found around this amazing world.

this young man was Theodor Kraft, a 14-year-old who grew up in Viridian City and has finally started on his Pokemon journey.

Theo trekked through the forest, unmindful of the weather knowing that he was almost at his destination, as he could see the break

in the woods just up ahead. he sped up a little as he neared and finally managed to make it through the woods to the established path,

Rout 1. he looked around the path and checked his surroundings.

"Good, looks like He hasn't come by yet"

see Theo didn't go through the woods to circle Route 1 by accident, little that he does is after all, he is a very meticulous and logical person. he went this way because he has a plan, a plan that is nearly 7 years in the making. Theo gets himself situated near the edge of the path and out of the way so that he can quickly hide behind the thick woods if he has to and waits for what he knows is coming.

it doesn't take too long before he hears it, the sound of beating wings and a little while later the hurried pedalling of a bike, Theo hunkers down and hides himself as much as he can as he pulls out some sunglasses that he had kept in one of his vest pockets for this exact moment. he watched on as a truly incredible story started. he watched and he waited for what would come. a young boy and his hurt Pokemon trying to escape a massive flock of birds on a bike, an untimely crash off the bike and finally Theo saw what he was waiting for, a sacrificial play by the young boy to protect his Pokemon companion only for the little mouse pokemon to use his shoulder as a launchpad to jump towards the angry flock of birds and let of the most ridiculous Thunder shock move that Theo had ever seen. Theo knew it was mostly due to the lightning strike that just so happened to strike the little mouse in mid-air that led to the move being so large but this only added more credence to the information he had gathered beforehand. Theo watched the flock get downed, he watched the sky clear up and together with the unsuspecting boy he watched the majestic form of what he knew to be Ho-oh fly by overhead. Theo waited until the boy had moved on and waited some more for an attractive young girl to come by and find the charred form of a bike, let out an angry roar and follow after the young boy in a furious run all while carrying the charred bike above her. truly hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Theo made his way out to the middle of the path where the boy had stood previously and looked around the downed flock of Spearows, he looked around the front of the flock until he found the one he was looking for, a slightly larger Spearow with a comical bump on it's head. he walked up to the downed Pokemon and stared down at it, he once more ran through his plan in his mind and finally, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small Pokeball, enlarged it and slowly knelt to tap the Spearow with it.

the Pokemon was covered in a red beam and then sucked into the Pokeball, shaking in his hand once, twice, three times and finally, it stilled and let out a single, resounding ping.

with that sound Theo stood back up and made his way down the Route towards his destination, Pallet Town, all with a large smile because he knew, as of this moment, he was walking the path towards his dream.
