After the Pevensie's evacuated London, they were taken to the country to stay with a Professor during WWII. The professors housekeeper, Mrs. Macready came and picked them up. Not only does Mrs. Macready manage the staff of the house, she also gives tours of the mansion when sightseers arrive.
After the children are picked up from the train platform, Mrs. Macready takes them to the mansion and explains the rules of the house.
"And absolutely no disturbing the Professor!" Mrs. Macready states. The Pevensie's nod in agreement as Susan tips her head to the side. "Mrs. Macready," she says. "Yes dear?" Mrs. Macready turns to Susan. "This house is very big and it would be very lonely to be here alone. Doesn't the Professor have any family?" Mrs. Macready went silent for a moment. "He did and we'll leave it at that. Now let's get on with the tour." The Pevensie's nodded and followed Mrs. Macready through the rest of the house.
