Title: Another Chance at Love
Chapter 19
(It is 7:30pm and Patrick has just finished making the spaghetti when there is a knock at the front door. Patrick goes to answer it, revealing Sabrina)
Patrick: (smiles) "You're right on time."
(He lets her in and shuts the door. He dishes them both up a plate of spaghetti and puts a piece of garlic toast on their plates)
Sabrina: "Thank you."
Patrick: "You are very welcome."
(As they eat, they engage in small talk. They discuss Emma's excitement over spending the night at her friend's house)
Patrick: "I hope you'll agree, but I had so much fun on our first date."
Sabrina: "I did, too. You made the night perfect, Patrick."
Patrick: "Thank you for coming over here tonight and agreeing to our first date. I have not had that much fun since Robin."
Sabrina: "I had a blast, too. Please know that I would NEVER try replacing Robin."
(Patrick quickly shakes his head to reassure her)
Patrick: "I know that. That is one of the many things I appreciate about you…your kindness and respect." (smiles) "How would you feel about going on another date with me, a second date?"
Sabrina: (grins) "I would love to. What'd you have in mind?"
Patrick: (smirks) "Since I picked out the location for the first date, you get to pick out the location to the second date."
Sabrina: (chuckles) "Okay. Well, I admit that I've never really eaten at Kelly's yet. I've always wanted to try that place, if that's okay?"
Patrick: (nods) "If that is where you want to go, that is where I'll take you. Is Saturday night okay to take you and Maxie can babysit?"
Sabrina: (giggles) "That is perfect. But you DO know that Maxie is going to be an expensive babysitter because of all the dates we will be going on."
Patrick: (to himself) "We may be going on a lot of dates, but I already know how I feel about you, Sabrina. I cannot believe it happened so fast. Then again, I did ask Robin for a sign. I truly believe Robin brought Sabrina into my life for a reason." (looks up) "Thank you, Robin, because I truly feel I'm falling in love with Sabrina."
(It is like Patrick was meant to be with Sabrina Santiago and he was beyond blessed)
Patrick: (chuckles) "It's worth it to pay Maxie extra because you and I are able to spend more time to get to know each other."
Sabrina: (nods & smiles) "I couldn't have said it better myself."
(After they finished their food and their conversations, they wanted to hang out more, but it was getting late. They both had an early shift the next day. Even though Sabrina had no problem walking to Patrick's house, he insisted on driving her home afterwards. They are outside her front door)
Sabrina: "Thank you for supper. It was delicious."
Patrick: (nods) "You're welcome."
(Patrick looks up and smiles a bit, thanking God for a good night. They then smile sweetly at each other)
Patrick: "I admit I have wanted to do something since our first date. I didn't, though, because I didn't know if it was too soon."
Sabrina: (shyly) "I admit I wanted to do the same thing."
Patrick: (smiles) "What do you think? Should we throw caution to the wind and go for it?"
Sabrina: (nods) "I will if you will."
(As if both knowing what the other wants to do, they slowly lean forward while looking into the other's eyes. Their lips, at long last, connect. Mmm, it tasted so good, like heaven. They break apart and smile before sharing one more kiss)
(After finally breaking free, Patrick smiles)
Patrick: "I don't know about you, but I haven't felt that free in a long time. And I owe it all to you."
Sabrina: "I agree." (smiles) "Thank you for making me feel like a princess. Then again, you always make me feel like one."
Patrick: (chuckles) "No problem." (whispers) "Good night."
Sabrina: (whispers) "Good night."
(Their hands break apart as Patrick exits. Sabrina continues to look in the direction Patrick exited)
Sabrina: (chuckles) "I feel like I am truly beginning to fall in love with Patrick. I wonder if he feels the same way?"
***The Next Day***
(Patrick is getting ready for work. Emma's having cereal for breakfast)
Emma: "How'd your evening with Sabrina go?"
(Patrick smiles at his daughter before answering)
Patrick: "It went great. I am looking forward to many more. How do you feel about Sabrina after everything that's happened in the last couple of months?"
Emma: (smiles) "I love Sabrina. She is always there for me. I will admit there is one thing I'd like to do. I don't know if you'd like it, though."
Patrick: "What's that?"
Emma: "You take me to the park on your days off. Do you think Sabrina would want to join us sometime?"
Patrick: "Hmmm. Maybe for my third date with Sabrina, we could make it a family date with you."
Emma: (nods) "I like that idea."
(They both agree to ask Sabrina. After taking Emma to school, Patrick sees Sabrina in the locker room)
Patrick: "Hey, there."
Sabrina: "Hey."
(They embrace each other before Patrick speaks)
Patrick: "Emma has an idea about our third date she wanted me to run by you."
Sabrina: (laughs) "Okay. Go ahead."
Patrick: "This time, she was hoping all three of us could go to the park and hang out together. She wanted to be included this time. What do you think?"
Sabrina: (nods & smiles) "Emma thinks of great ideas. I love it and cannot wait until then since it is during the week now."
(They cannot wait until then. They go to work)
