Flashback to 10 years ago...
Gem was 9 years old at the time playing in the cabin mansion with her sisters and mother who decided to take them all on a vacation for a whole year to fairytale Island
Gem was looking around the forest only for her father Vil Shoeinheit to stop her in her tracks "where do you think your going little rose" Vil said picking up his 9 year old daughter
"I wanna go pick some flowers" Gem said "maybe another time little one your mother doesn't want you to wander off on your own or get lost" Vil said carrying her to the cabin mansion
Gem looks curiously at the forest her little 9 year old brain already thinking up idea's to sneak away from the mansion while her father wasn't looking or distracted with something else
Later...
While Vil was busy tending to Everett who was 6 years old and youngest, 7 year old Sana caught sight of Gem trying to sneak away so she told Rias who was 13 years old to follow after Gem
Gem thought no one saw her and she ran into the woods as free as a bird would feel and saw a whole field of wild flowers making her smile and pick some flowers
While she was in the flower field 10 year old Merlin was hanging out with Arthur and the other's "I bet we're going to be the best heroes in all of fairytale Island" Arthur said
"We'll be dashing and suave" Jack said with his cloak of invisibility on him "no one could possibly compare to us" Hans said "no one" Pino said "in the whole" Noki said "wide world" Kio finished
"You guys the ladies are going to love us I bet anyone would be swooning over us in an instant" Merlin said "oh yeah prove it" Arthur said crossing his arms
"How there's no girl's around" Merlin said shrugging Jack spotted Gem "there's a girl over in the flowers field by Risky Rock" Jack said Merlin looked over and froze
Merlin seemed breathless as he looked at the girl picking flowers from the field "well go on show us what you got" Arthur said smugly "alright I will" Merlin said as he walked forward towards Gem
Gem was making a flower crown but wanted someone to play with her it was a little boring and lonely when she saw a shadow looming over her she looked up to see Merlin
"Hello...what are you doing out here?" Merlin asked curiously "making a flower crown" Gem answered simply "are you alone? Shouldn't you be with your family" Merlin said Gem froze and laughs nervously
"I went into the forest alone" Gem said Merlin couldn't help but chuckle at her honest answer "what's so funny who are you to laugh" Gem said as Merlin leaned down to speak to her
"My name is Merlin...what's yours" Merlin said "my name is Gem Shoeinheit" Gem said with a smile "it's nice to meet you my lady" Merlin said bowing slightly only to feel a flower crown put on his head
The other boys had their Jaws dropped at this scene "Merlin...I like you let's be friends" Gem said making Merlin blush and his heart beat in his chest
"Gem Shoeinheit" a male voice said Gem flinched and turned to see her mother, father and sisters "hi papa" Gem said awkwardly "what did I tell you about going off on your own" Vil said scoldingly "sorry papa" Gem said
"Next time have one of us go with you don't run off like that next time ok" Rias said firmly as Gem nodded "who is this?" Ari said noticing Merlin behind Gem
"This is Merlin my new friend" Gem said as she held his arm and snuggled against him which made Vil's eyebrow twitch in annoyance "ah puppy love" Ari said making Vil frown in annoyance
"Let's go enough of this" Vil said as he picked up Gem and carried her back to the cabin mansion thinking about Merlin and how cool he was probably excited that puppy crush in her
End of Flashback...
Gem slowly woke up and rubbed her eyes to find she had not only forgotten to remove her makeup but she was also face to face with a sleeping dwarf Merlin
Gem fell off the couch in surprise making Merlin wake up and look down at her "what's wrong why are you down there?" Merlin said sleepily "why was I sleeping next to you" Gem said
"Oh you wouldn't let go of my shirt so I had to sleep with you...don't worry I didn't dare touch you while you were asleep" Merlin said in a reassuring way
Gem sighed "I know" she said and then they looked to see Rias and Crystal who were giving them deadpan looks making Merlin and Gem embarrassed
"What were you two talking about" Crystal said 'geez I forgot they stayed over' Merlin thought to himself and awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck "you guys are so cute" Rias said with a chuckle
Hearing this made both Merlin and Gem blush in embarrassment "Shut up Rias" Gem said throwing her shoe at Rias only for the shoe to hit Ashlin instead
"Why though" Ashlin whimpered as she fell to the ground "whoops" Gem said "Let's forget that happened" Merlin said "agreed" Gem said as they both laughed as Rias smiled at how good they looked as a couple
