Chapter 6

Cyniclon Ship

Pai had teleported back to the ship and ran past his parents who were in the kitchen. "Pai, is everything okay?" his mother asked.

He held his hands over his mouth and fled into his room, sealing off his room with a passcode on the door.

He pressed his back against the wall as he slid down it. He was so confused with himself. One moment he wanted her dead so he could go back to the way he was before, and the next moment he had saved her. He could hear Kukki yelling from down the hallway as he held his head in his hands, knees pulled up to his chest.

"Pai! Where the fuck are you!?" Kukki yelled as she checked Pai's lab and flipped over tables. She quickly walked past the living area and kitchen, and then saw her parents standing by Pai's room. "Is he in there!?" she yelled furious.

"Kukki, what's the matter?" Urio asked.

Kisshu and Taruto were staring at her with wide eyes as she pushed past her parents and started banging on Pai's door. "Pai you get out here right NOW!"

"What's going on?" Suama asked concerned.

"He kissed the enemy!" Kukki yelled still slamming her fist on the door. "When I figure out the passcode and I get my hands on you…!"

Urio grabbed Kukki by the wrist. Her hand was beginning to become black and blue from how hard she was pounding on the metal door.

"Kukki, calm down." Urio said calmly, and then turned his attention to Kisshu and Taruto. "What happened?"

"Pai saved one of the enemies and kissed her." said Taruto.

Urio and Suama gave each other a look of surprise and questionability as if to say they didn't believe what they were hearing. "I'm sorry, what?" Urio asked trying to see if he did mishear them.

"He kissed the fucking enemy!" yelled Kukki kicking the door now. "He has fallen in love with a human!"

Pai sat there in his room curled up leaning against the wall, tears beginning to roll down his cheeks with each opening and closing of his eyes.

Pai spoke quietly to himself. "Why? Why is this happening to me? What is the matter with me?" He looked up at the ceiling. "Is it true? Have I fallen in love with a human? With…Miss Midorikawa?" He closed his eyes as placed his head in his hands. "I am clearly not thinking straight."

Pai could hear his sister yelling out there still pounding and kicking on the door. "Pai get out here right now!"

"Kukki…" Kisshu said quietly as his face began to change into a saddened expression. He too had feelings for a human, for Ichigo. But how could he explain to her that he too had feelings like that for a human.

Kukki managed to break down the door for them to find Pai sitting against the wall head in his hands, knees brought up to his chest.

"She's a human! What is wrong with you, you…you idiot!?" Kukki screamed as she stomped over to Pai and grabbed him by his shirt collar and picked him off the ground.

"I…I do not know." Pai said quietly looking down as she grabbed him by the front of his shirt and pulled him to face her.

Kukki began to laugh manically. "No…I get it…" she said between chuckles "she's not a human…she's a witch…" she said letting Pai's shirt go and backing up "and she's put a spell on you."

"Do not say that." Pai said quietly as he looked down and Kukki began to walk away.

"What did you say?" Kukki asked as she turned around.

"Do not talk about Miss Midorikawa like that!" Pai snapped. "She is not like that!"

"Then…you do love her?" Kisshu asked.

"I…" Pai said looking back down as he clenched his fists "…I…I…" He didn't know how to admit it. He was normally sullen and stayed silent about his feelings. His feelings were things that he did not speak of. But he just couldn't seem to get her off his mind.

"Why is she always on my mind? All I can think about is her." Pai thought to himself.

"Pai!" Kukki yelled snapping Pai back to reality.

"I…I think I do have feelings for her." Pai said blushing.

"Have you lost your mind!?" Kukki yelled as she slapped Pai across the face.

Urio grabbed Kukki and pulled her out of the room. "Kukki, I need you to calm down." he said wrapping his arms around her body and picking her up.

"Put me down! Let me at him! How are you not mad at all!?" Kukki yelled as kicked her feet.

Pai's mother walked over to Pai who now sat on his bed. "Mother…what is wrong with me?" Pai asked looking at the ground, to ashamed to even look at anyone.

"What do you mean honey?" Suama asked.

"I have developed feelings for a human. It is unnatural…despicable, and…shameful." he said getting quieter with each part.

"Why do you say that Pai?" she asked placing a hand on his shoulder.

"The human is our enemy. They have taken the planet for granted and polluted it. They have no concern for the planet while we just dream of reclaiming our pristine planet back. And now it is no longer what we dreamt it would be." Pai explained. "To have feelings for the enemy, an inferior life form, it is shameful."

"Pai…you know how I feel about Ichigo." Kisshu said. "I've accepted that I love her and that others may find it wrong, but I don't care. Do you know why?"

"Because you are still too immature and foolish." said Pai raising an eyebrow at his younger sibling.

"No, because I'm going to love her no matter what others may say or think." Kisshu said crossing his arms.

"I cannot allow myself to be foolish. I must choose between my people or her." Pai said looking up at his mother now. "How do I make myself no longer have feelings about her?"

"Pai you cannot force yourself to not love her. Love is not a choice." his mother said as she rubbed the back of his head.

Pai had a worried look on his face. He had a duty to his people, but he couldn't deny his emotions no longer. He developed feelings of love for her. "Don't worry, you're going to be alright." she said patting him on the head. She motioned to Kisshu and Taruto to leave with her, giving Pai some time to think by himself.

Kukki went into her room and sat on her bed. "Baka." she said out loud to herself. "I've never seen Pai act like that before. To stand up for a human…it is not like Pai. But then again he has been acting different." Kukki thought to herself thinking about how Pai had changed. She grabbed her head as she wracked her brain on what to do.

The next day: Cyniclon ship

Pai woke up and rolled out of bed still half asleep. He walked out of his room into the living area and sat down at the chabudai. He placed his elbows on the table and placed his head in his hands. "You okay Pai?" Kisshu asked.

Pai just made a grunting noise of acknowledgement. Suama placed a plate of food in front of everyone. Kukki just kept glaring daggers at Pai while Pai hung his head down in shame, avoiding eye contact from everyone.

Pai moved his food around his plate again with his chopsticks. He let out an exasperated sigh. "Mother…what am I supposed to do?" he asked quietly.

"She's on your mind, isn't she?" Suama asked.

Pai nodded. "She is." he said quietly.

"What is it Pai?" Urio asked.

"I am quite unsure what to do in this kind of situation. How am I going to be able to fight against the enemies when I cannot even look at her without trying to catch my breath?"

"Why don't you try talking to her?" Taruto chimed in. "Maybe she feels the same way about you."

"I highly doubt that." Pai stated. "The probability that she would feel the same way about me is a low possibility. The fact that we are enemies is already one reason she would not return any feelings. Along with us being Cyniclons and her being a human."

"Pai…" Suama said.

"I am not sure what I am supposed to do. How am I going to be of any use to our mission?" Pai asked as his ears began to point downward.

"Pai, you're not the only one who cares about a human." Taruto said blushing slightly.

"If you mean Kisshu I am already well aware of his infatuation over Mew Ichigo." Pai stated looking up.

"I'm sorry, what?" Kukki asked raising an eyebrow. She assumed that Kisshu was just toying with Ichigo just to anger her.

"Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I love Ichigo." Kisshu said chuckling rubbing his neck.

"No, I meant…me." Taruto said quietly.

Pai and Kisshu looked over at Taruto with raised eyebrows. "Am I the only sane one here?!" Kukki yelled as she got up and stormed off.

"Taruto, do you have a little girlfriend?" Urio asked.

"No! She's more like a friend." Taruto said defensively as he waved his hands.

"Oh how cute!" Kisshu said pinching Taruto's cheeks.

Taruto got up and stormed off, stomping his feet on the ground. He turned around to see Pai had a slight smile on his face. Taruto smiled back. He knew that it made Pai feel a little bit better about himself, and that made him happy. He did not enjoy when Pai was melancholy.

Pai would mostly walk around more irritated than normal. And on other occasions he would be quiet with his head hung and stayed in his room for days. He didn't want to see his brother in that mood again.

Kisshu got up and followed Taruto out of the room so his parents could talk to Pai alone. Kukki stood in her room pacing back and forth. "They must really care for them. Have I been wrong about humans all along?" Kukki asked herself. "I guess I should just accept it. If Pai has feelings for a human girl then I guess she must be decent." Kukki smiled slightly.

"Who is she Pai? What is she like?" Urio asked.

"Her name is Midorikawa Lettuce. She is quite intelligent. She is well versed in literature, and enjoys cooking and sewing." Pai said blushing slightly as he thought about her.

"How about personality wise?" Suama said smiling. She was glad that Pai found someone he was passionate about. She worried that he wouldn't find someone to make him feel loved in a way that only a lover could.

"Well…she is…" Pai said trailing off trying to find a word that could describe how kind she was, but couldn't be bothered with finding a sophescated word. "Sweet." he gave a warm smile as he looked down at his hand.

"What does she look like? Does she have long hair?" Urio asked.

"Hai." Pai nodded. "She has green hair in two long braids in the back." Pai said now remembering what happened when he teleported to her house when he was slightly drunk. "She is…quite cute." he said softly as a blush crept across his face.

Café Mew Mew

Lettuce and the Mews were there early to help set up the cafe for a birthday party. Lettuce was still thinking about what happened yesterday. Pai had saved her from what she could only assume would have been a lethal attack.

But what surprised her most of all was what followed. Pai had kissed her. He had given her a kiss, her first kiss. His lips were soft and warm on hers. She wondered if what the others had said was true. That Pai must actually have feelings for her.

Lettuce was hanging a banner with Zakuro that said happy birthday. Zakuro stood on the ladder while Lettuce held up the other end of the banner from letting it hang on the ground. "Zakuro-san…do you think Pai has feelings for me?"

Zakuro looked down at her. "I'm not sure." she said stepping down the latter. "The more important question is how would you feel if he did have feelings for you?"

"Well…I'm not completely sure." she mumbled. "I suppose I would feel flattered."

"Would you say you feel the same way about him?" Zakuro asked. Lettuce looked at Zakuro with wide eyes. Zakuro was so mature and knew exactly what to say to make her think.

"I'm not sure." she said quietly. She thought about the things Pai and had in common, and about how he seemed to care for her. Even those small moments they spent together she held a certain affinity for him.

"Alien alert! Alien alert!" Masha chirped out.

Ichigo groaned loudly with Mint. "Why must they always want to fight us when we have to do work?" Ichigo groaned as she headed to the door. She opened the door to see Pai ready to knock.

"Oh. Um…Mew Ichigo…is Miss Midorikawa here?" Pai asked rubbing the back of his neck.

"What do you want?" Ichigo asked blocking the door.

"I would like to talk to Miss Midorikawa." Pai stated crossing his arms. "Is she present or not?" he asked getting irritated that she was blocking the way and not answering his question.

"She is here, but she's busy." Ichigo said starkly crossing her arms as well.

Pai stared down at Ichigo as she stared back with fiery eyes back at him. "I want to speak to Miss Midorikawa."

"No." Ichigo said ready to close the door. Pai placed his foot in the door. "Move your foot!"

"Not until I speak with Miss Midorikawa!" Pai snapped back.

"Listen, I'm sure she doesn't want to talk to you seeing as you stole her first kiss!" Ichigo snapped as she stepped on Pai's foot. Pai retracted his foot and Ichigo slammed the door shut.

"It was my first kiss as well." Pai thought to himself as his ears began to droop in sadness.

"Can you believe him?!" Ichigo yelled stomping away. "I can't believe the nerve of that guy!" Ichigo shouted.

"Um…" Lettuce said softly. She wasn't sure whether to thank Ichigo or say that Ichigo should have been nicer. She was nervous about seeing Pai again but she wanted to ask him why he did what he did.

Ryou and Keiichiro came out of the kitchen to see the commotion. "What is going on?" Ryou asked annoyed as Ichigo muttered to herself.

"Ichigo is mad that Pai stopped by." Mint said. Ryou glanced over at Ichigo.

"I just think it's very rude of him to show up like that after what he did!" Ichigo shouted.

"Why are you so worked up over this?" Ryou asked.

"Why!?" Ichigo yelled. "Because he stole her first kiss! Aren't you mad at him!?" Ichigo yelled looking over at Lettuce.

"Well…" Lettuce said quietly thinking about it.

"I should know how it feels. Kisshu is the one who stole my first kiss." Ichigo said crossing her arms.

"Ichigo alien alert! Alien alert!" Masha chirped again.

"Should I just go out and talk to him?" Lettuce asked turning to Zakuro.

"Do what you feel is right." Zakuro nodded towards her.

"No!" Ichigo yelled. "I will deal with him!" She opened the door wide open this time to see a Cyniclon man and woman stand there with Pai standing behind them, his head hung down slightly.

Ichigo and the others stared with wide eyes. "Excuse us. My name is Ikisatashi Suama."

"And my name is Ikisatashi Urio." Urio said bowing with his wife.

"Uh…hello." Ichigo said nervously. It was obvious that they were Pai's, Kukki's, Kisshu's, and Taruto's parents.

"Our son would like to speak with a Midorikawa Lettuce." Suama said glancing over at Pai.

"I told him no." Ichigo said crossing her arms looking at Pai. "What, you had to have your mommy and daddy help you get past me?" Ichigo said mockingly.

Flashback

Pai had teleported to the ship and found his mother and father in the kitchen. "Um…mother, father…can you help me with something?" Pai asked.

"What is it Pai?" Urio asked.

"One of the humans is not allowing me to talk to Miss Midorikawa." Pai said crossing his arms. "I wish to have a conversation with Miss Midorikawa and discuss the events that happened yesterday." Pai said. Pai's mother and father starred blankly at Pai. "I want to discuss about my actions." Pai said getting a slight blush on his face. "But the one girl will not allow me to talk to Miss Midorikawa. So…can you help me" Pai said blushing darker and looking down "get her to allow me to converse with Miss Midorikawa?"

"Do you seriously need mom and dad to help fight your battles with a girl?" Kisshu asked leaning against the doorway.

"This is not easy for me to ask Kisshu!" Pai snapped back.

End Flashback

"Please miss allow our son to have a word with Miss Midorikawa. I'm sure he wishes to apologize for his actions yesterday." Urio said bowing again.

Ichigo moved to the side and motioned for them to come inside. Pai stood by the doors on the opposite side of Ichigo.

Pudding ran up to Suama and Urio. "Are you Taru-Taru's parents?"

"Yes we are." Suama said smiling at Pudding. "You must be Taruto's friend."

"Pudding and Taru-Taru are friends. Taru-Taru will find Pudding sometimes so we can share candy together." Pudding added.

"Oh how sweet." Suama chuckled as she covered her mouth with her hand.

"You must be Miss Midorikawa." Urio said looking at Lettuce.

"Um…yes." Lettuce mumbled.

Urio and Suama bowed. "Pai was quite correct when he said you were quite cute." Urio said chuckling.

Everyone's attention turned to Pai who was blushing now. "Father!" Pai yelled. "I told you that in confidence." he said getting quieter.

"Would you please have a word with our son Miss Midorikawa?" Suama asked bowing.

"Hai." Lettuce said nodding. She walked over to Pai. "Hello Pai-san." she said quietly.

"Miss Midorikawa." Pai stated nodding. "May we talk outside?" Lettuce nodded and followed Pai outside away from the café, away from the others. Pai had his arms crossed as he looked away. "Miss Midorikawa, I would like to apologize for my actions yesterday. It was very unprofessional of me to engage you in such a manner as we are both enemies."

Lettuce stood there in silence, she was unsure what to say. "Um…yes…" was all she was able to reply.

"I am not apologizing for saving you from Kukki's attack; I am apologizing for as Mew Ichigo has informed me I had stolen your first kiss." Pai said.

"Ah…yes…" she said blushing, as she began to think about the kiss again.

Pai began to look down at the ground now. "If it makes you feel any better, you were my first kiss as well." he said quietly.

"I…I was?" Lettuce asked surprised. Lettuce thought that Pai would have kissed many girls before being how handsome he was. But then she remembered that he seemed anxious when he stayed at her house, so perhaps he was telling the truth.

"Yes." Pai began to blush. Pai cleared his throat. "I hope we can put this situation behind us and resume to the way things were. We will continue to fight for the survival of our people and you may do the same."

"Pai-san…" Lettuce began as Pai began to walk away. "Maybe it doesn't have to be that way!" she yelled causing him to stop in his tracks.

Pai turned his head to look at her. "What are you suggesting?" Pai asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe…we could help you and your people." Lettuce said walking towards him.

Pai turned his head back forward. "That would be a foolish idea to even entertain." Pai said coldly. His ear twitched with each tap of Lettuce's foot against the ground as she walked towards him.

Pai turned around to see Lettuce standing right in front of him now. Pai began to blush slightly. "Please Pai-san, maybe we could help your people." she said. Pai shook his head slightly. "Why won't you let us help you?" Lettuce asked eyes widening as tears began to form in the corners of them.

"I…we…" Pai began to stutter. "The likelihood that the enemies would actually want to help us is about 23.312%. But considering that it is Miss Midorikawa that is suggesting it is more likely 98.992%." Pai thought to himself. "It would not go over well with either of our races."

"But…" Lettuce began "…how can you be so sure?"

"My people despise the humans." Pai said turning around so he didn't have to see her face as tears ran down her cheeks.

Lettuce was quiet for a moment. "Then…why did you kiss me? Do you despise me Pai-san?"

Pai's eyes widened. He knew that it would have to be discussed with her eventually. "Well…I…" Pai began. He stopped talking when he heard some teleportation nearby.

"Did we interrupt you two?" Kisshu and Taruto asked as they floated up above them.

Pai glared at them as if to tell them to leave them alone. He grabbed Lettuce's wrist and pulled her towards the woods and leaned against a tree. "Gomen-nasai. I would prefer if others did not hear me speak this."

Pai sighed as he slid down to the ground, his back still against the tree. "I…I like you Miss Midorikawa." Pai said staring at the ground, too embarrassed to even look at her. "I would rather there be more humans like you in this world. So no, I could not despise you."

"Pai-san…you like me?" Lettuce asked as she leaned down in front of him.

Pai nodded slightly. "That is why I kissed you. In all honesty I do not regret the kiss." he said blushing light pink as he looked up slightly. His eyes met hers. Her big blue eyes began to grow tears in them as she covered her mouth with her hands. "I just wished I had done it sooner."

"I have upset her now, have I not?" Pai thought as mentally kicked himself. "Pai-san…" Lettuce spoke softly behind her hands. "Do… do you really like me?"

Pai nodded. "Gomen-nasai. I did not mean to upset you."

"Why…why do you like me?" Lettuce said looking down shyly. "There isn't anything special about me." Pai raised an eyebrow. "I'm very clumbsy, and nerdy, and weak, and I'm not that pretty like Zakuro or Ichigo."

Pai placed his finger on Lettuce's lips, trying to make her stop rambeling. "You do not see what I see, what I see in you." Pai said calmly moving his finger away from her soft lips.

"Then…do you think we would be able to help your people?" Lettuce asked. She didn't want to fight them anymore. She wanted to save Earth, and she wanted to help save the Cyniclons.

"I…I will have to process this mentally." Pai stated as he stood up. "I must depart." he said before teleporting away.

Cyniclon ship

Pai teleported back to his lab where his sister was sitting at his computer slab. "So…how'd it go?" Kukki asked spinning around in the chair.

"We talked." Pai said walking over to an assortment of potions he had laid out on a table. "What are you doing in my laboratory anyway?"

"Doing some research." Kukki stated. "What are you doing?"

"I am making a potion to give a Cyniclon the appearance of a human." Pai said as he mixed two of the vials together. Kukki raised an eyebrow. "I can tell what you are thinking, why am I doing such a thing?" Pai said. "Well I have some things to do which would be a lot simpler if I had the appearance of a human."

"Okay." Kukki said bleakly turning back around. Pai began mixing some potions when Kukki spoke up "Need assistance?"

"Hai." Pai nodded.

Kukki worked with Pai on a potion to make a Cyniclon look like a human. Their skin wouldn't be so pale and they would have human ears. As they worked together Kukki was slowly losing her anger towards Pai. "Pai…" Kukki said softly "I want to make amends for overreacting."

"Are you…apologizing?" Pai asked with wide eyes.

"Hai." she said nodding. She looked over to see Pai staring at her with a look of astonishment. "What is that look for?"

"You have never apologized to me before." Pai stated.

"Never did anything wrong till now." she said crossing her arms in a huff. Pai gave a slight chuckle, followed by Kukki chuckling.

The Next Day

Pai stood outside of Okumura Daifuzoku Junior High School. He wore a pair of black jeans and a purple t-shirt. Kisshu had gone to Earth and picked him out some clothes that humans wore. He had taken the potion that he made, giving him human ears.

Pai looked up as heard the bell ring. He leaned his back against the wall as he waited for Lettuce to come out. Pai stood there with his arms crossed as some of the girls leaving the school stared at him. Lettuce came out of the school and noticed Pai; even though he looked different she was still able to recognize him.

"Pai-san?" Lettuce said quietly walking up to him. "Is that really you?"

"It is." Pai replied with a slight nod.

"What are you doing here Pai-san?" Lettuce asked.

"I wanted to discuss about the offer you made yesterday, about helping my people." Pai stated. "I have thought diligently about what you said and I would like to take you up on that offer if it still stands."

Lettuce's face lit up with joy. "Hai!" she exclaimed nodding in agreement.

Pai and Lettuce's head whipped around when they heard three girls calling Lettuce's name. "Oh Lettuce!" the girl with dark hair called. They were the three girls that pretended to be Lettuce's friend so she could do their homework and use her allowance on them. All of them named Aya.

"Are they friends of yours?" Pai asked as they came walking up to them.

"Well…not really." Lettuce said looking down.

Pai raised a quizzical eyebrow. The girls noticed Pai standing next to Lettuce. "Oh, Lettuce aren't you going to introduce us to your friend?" the red haired Aya said.

"Oh…um…this is Pai-san." Lettuce said motioning to Pai who just eyed them.

"Hello Pai-san. ~" the dark haired Aya sang. She pushed out her chest a bit, trying to show off her cleavage.

The three girls found Pai quite attractive. "So Pai-san, do you go to a school near here?" the blond one asked.

"Negative." Pai stated coldly. He wanted to quickly end any conversation that could arise from being asked any questions. He wanted to speak with Lettuce, not with some girls who Lettuce could not consider friends, which confused him, wondering what the nature of their friendship was.

"Miss Midorikawa we should be going." Pai motioned to Lettuce with his head.

"Hai." Lettuce said nodding.

"Wait! Lettuce, aren't you forgetting something?" the dark haired Aya asked as she held up a sheet of paper.

"Oh, well…" Lettuce began to mumble. Normally she was forced into doing their homework for them, in the futile attempt that they would be her friends one day. "I can't. I have somewhere to be." she said blushing glancing at Pai.

"Lettuce!" the three girls screamed in unison, causing a bunch of other students to turn their heads and see the commotion going on. "Are you going on a date with your boyfriend?!" the red head screamed so others could hear them.

Lettuce turned a light shade of pink as did Pai. The three girls began to laugh. "I fail to see what could be so amusing if Miss Midorikawa and I were in a relationship." Pai stated coldly. He already disliked these girls.

A crowd of students began to crowd around them. They too knew how the three girls treated Lettuce, but they never said anything about it.

"Because it's gross. She's like a total weirdo." the dark haired girl said.

"She's so quiet, and a bookworm." the red head said.

"And she's like…too kind, it's creepy." the blond one said.

Pai glanced over at Lettuce's face as an expression of sadness came across her face. He stood up straighter and crossed his arms. His face became pale again, losing the tinge of pink in it.

"You may find Miss Midorikawa weird, but I find her quite unique, which I find fascinating." Pai stated. "Miss Midorikawa may be quiet and enjoy books, but I too am enthralled with books and I would prefer silence, instead of noisy girls such as you three." Pai said glaring down at them.

The girls winced as Pai said this as the crowd made a gasping noise.

"And finally, you may find her kindness creepy, but I for one find it refreshing to know that there is someone out there that has a heart of gold. Unlike you three, who I find to be quite despicable." Pai said as the three Aya's backed up slightly.

"Pai-san…" Lettuce said quietly under her breath.

"Well…she wouldn't know what to do in bed with you…she's probably a virgin still." the dark haired girl said. Lettuce began to blush.

"There is nothing wrong with her being pure still. At least she is not promiscuous girls like you three." Pai stated as he grabbed Lettuce by the wrist. "Let us go Miss Midorikawa." he said dragging her off down the street.

Lettuce could hear the crowd of school kids that had crowded around them erupt into cheers. She glanced back to see the three Aya's there with embarrassed faces as the crowd cheered for them finally getting told off by someone.

"Did he just call us whores?" the one whispered to the others.

"He did." the other two said.

Lettuce followed behind Pai, who looked annoyed, as he walked fast with her wrist still in his grip. "Pai-san…" she spoke quietly.

"The nerve of such girls!" Pai muttered loudly to himself.

"Pai-san…" Lettuce spoke again. "Did you really mean all those things you said?"

Pai stopped dead in his tracks, slowly releasing her wrist. Pai turned bright pink. He didn't look at her so she wouldn't see his blushing face. "I…I would not have said such things if I did not mean them." he muttered.

"Thank you Pai-san." Lettuce said as she hugged him from behind. Pai's ears perked up as he began to blush even harder. A slight smile came over his face.

"Miss Midorikawa, let us go discuss your ideas on how to help my people." Pai said as she let him go and he led them to a secluded spot on the side of the dirt road he fell asleep before.

Pai sat down on a nearby bench next to Lettuce. "Pai-san…thank you again for standing up for me back there." Lettuce said.

Pai nodded. "Who were those girls anyway?"

"Well…I used to consider us friends, but since I met Ichigo and the others I realized they weren't my friends at all. I use to do their homework for them, hoping that they would be my friend's someday." she said looking down.

"You should not do their homework for them. Otherwise they will not learn anything." Pai stated.

"I know. I just really wanted friends before. But I have the best friends now." Lettuce said smiling. "Thank you Pai-san." she said as smiled at him. "I'm sure they will leave me alone now."

Pai smiled back at her. Lettuce leaned in slowly with her eyes closed. "M…Miss Midorikawa….I…I…" Pai stammered as she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.

They sat there in silence for a moment. Pai scooting to the edge of the bench as Lettuce sat on the other side. "I want to kiss her again! I want to kiss her!" Pai thought as his arms and legs began to shake slightly.

"Is he okay? He's shaking." Lettuce thought glancing over at Pai. "Pai-san…are you…" she began but was cut off by Pai scooting as close to her as he could, immediately kissing her. He had his hands clenched around the sides of her shoulders as he became more forceful on her.

Pai realized what he was doing. He quickly broke off the forceful kiss and jumped up. "G…gomen-nasai!" he shouted before running off.

"I am such a jerk to force myself on her like that! What the hell is wrong with me?! I've become as bad as Kisshu!" Pai mentally screamed at himself as he ran down the street.
