Extra

Guideau is a terrible riser when off duty. Just wait it out. If you must, cook some tempting meat.

It worked. Guideau peered through the door, sniffing the air in a way that would have been cute if she didn't have that permanent scowl on her face. She didn't like being woken up at all, but the tempting aroma of meat marinated in herbs and basil was irresistible enough to drag her out of bed after a full day's sleep.

Ashaf noted with quiet appreciation that his theory had worked. Guideau had dragged her feet into the small living room, half asleep, half dressed, her thighs visible under an oversized t-shirt. Not that Guideau cared much for social conventions. But at least she had learned enough to maintain some sense of propriety in the presence of others. The lack of proper clothing, along with the disheveled hair and groggy eyes, confirmed what he was already thinking:

«So all it takes is some food to get her attention?»

"What do you want?" she had asked rudely, sitting down. Then she gave a big yawn that she didn't bother to cover with her hands. Her fangs became visible, giving the disheveled girl an almost comical appearance. "I was sleeping. Are you done with that?"

A large steak with broccoli and cauliflower in a cheese sauce and a plate of hard-boiled eggs were placed in front of her. She immediately began munching on the meat, ignoring the rest.

"Don't show up like this in front of others," he had said, lighting a cigarette. "Put some pants on first."

"Do you expect me to waste time getting dressed when I smell this?" she snapped in a loud voice. A curse was muffled by the munching of the meat.

«Oh. So it's the meat.»

"My, my. And to think I said we were making progress with your training," he teased, taking a drag.

Guideau shot daggers at him. She hated it when he said things like that. She couldn't wait to finish her training and start getting cases.

"Don't you dare threaten me, asshole," she snarled through a mountful of meat. "Why are you here?"

"Well..." she heard him explain, the eggs and vegetables forgotten.

Misha could immediately confirm Ashaf's statement. Guideau had gone to bed right after the introductions, and she had slept through all the instructions, including the one about not approaching her while she slept. It wasn't long after Misha had turned on the stove that the disheveled blonde head peeked through the door.

Misha swallowed hard. The glare chilled her.

"Dinner's almost ready," was all she managed to say as she lifted the sizzling pan.

And here's the extra chapter I promised.

I'm kind of disappointed that this week's episode didn't show Misha. The manga introduction to the arc is much better because it supports the details about Guideau being a terrible riser. Also, I would have liked to see Ashaf say that they eat out from time to time, and to see Misha confuse the whole thing with them being a couple. *sigh* Anyway, I think it took away some of the worldbuilding (Misha not knowing what's really going on with Guideau, the implications that her lodgings are somehow secret, Ashaf's ability to make himself invisible with magic... *sighs again*)

Oh, by the way! I had my ears pierced (just at the top) like Guideau. Still stings lol

Edit: I've just found an amazing fic of Ashaf/Guideau in this Russian site ficbook dot net. The name's Научить любить which means something like "teach to love" by the author широсаки хичиго DeepL translator offers such a good translation. Enjoy your reading and don't forget to leave them a heartfelt review!
