Im back. Bear with me.
They ended up in Mrs. Darbus' room. The room was decorated with streamers and over-the-top theatrical props from past plays and musicals put on at East High. Taylor sat on the platform at the front of the room while Chad took to leaning against the desk towards the left of the room.
They were silent for what felt like an eternity, the humming of the school's AC stirring the air. They didn't bother turning the lights on. The little light coming from the windows illuminating the room was enough. Taylor kept her eyes ahead, avoiding meeting his eyes at all. At this point, it was just a matter of who was going to speak up first.
Chad wrung his hands out. He hadn't thought this through properly. What was he even supposed to say? How was he supposed to start this?
"Well," Taylor said as she abruptly got up, "good talk."
She headed towards the door and panic welled up in his throat causing him to call out, "Wait!"
She stopped just a few inches away from the doorframe.
"Wait," he repeated, "I'm sorry…I-I just don't know what to say."
She didn't move.
"You're the one who wanted to talk," she spoke over her shoulder. She seemed to be doing that a lot with him.
"I know. I just—please sit down." Chad pleaded. He didn't normally beg, but, damn, she was making this hard on him.
A moment of what looked like an internal battle later, Taylor sighed and slowly went back to sitting on the platform stiffly.
He didn't have a lot of time before she inevitably decided that he wasn't worth shit, so he thought he should hop to it.
"Our first date, you told me you wanted to be the president."
She looked up at him, confused. What did their first date have to do with this?
"You…you said you wanted to be in the oval office and I…" Chad looked down at his shoes. "I said I want to be in the NBA."
"You remember that?" She sounded surprised. As if he could forget the moment she knocked him off of his feet.
"Of course I do."
She pursed her lips.
"I never thought about how different our plans were. It never clicked that we…we wouldn't be going to the same places after we leave this hellhole. But now? Tay, that's all I think about."
She looked even more confused than before. Explain, Chad. Explain.
"We're all going to be separated. We may never see each other again. I may never see you again. I mean, Tay, we're getting to the end of senior year and…I know you've applied to Yale. And, shit, you must've gotten in because why wouldn't you? I'm staying here for basketball. The long distance thing never works. I—"
Chad hastily ran a hand through his tied up hair.
"Who's to say this wouldn't have ended inevitably anyway?" Chad shrugged too stiffly to be nonchalant. "Your dreams are so much bigger than me, Tay."
"Chad…"
Taylor was facing him fully now, her body turned to him. He wasn't sure if those were tears or the moonlight reflecting off her eyes.
"I thought…I thought that if I ended it now, then it'd be better for us. For you. I wasn't going to be the idiot who held Taylor Monique Mckessie back." He looked back up at her with a broken smile. "Better to stop things sooner than later, right? Better than drawing it out to the end where there'll be more pain and tears and shit like that. We'd have time to forget about each other and go on with our lives."
Taylor opened her mouth like she was about to speak but then she closed it. She had barely said a word since they entered the room.
"I just wanted to do the right thing. Please tell me it was the right thing." Chad gripped the edge of the desk until his knuckles turned white and shut his eyes tightly. "Tell me this wasn't some sappy bullshit I made up in my head. Because, it fucking hurts. Please tell me it was worth it."
He kept his head down. Even as he heard the click of her heels nearing him. He felt two fingers press beneath his chin to lift his face to the cool air circulating the room.
"Look at me," she whispered.
He opened his eyes.
Her full lips were pressed together tightly. The light from the window reflected on the faint shimmer dusted meticulously on the apple of her cheek. Fuck, she's gorgeous.
"Next time," she stared directly into his eyes, a hard look on her face, "you let me decide what I want to do with my life."
And then she kissed him.
It was a sweet, chaste kiss. She gently moved her lips against his and nipped his bottom lip hesitantly. He kissed her back almost immediately, his tongue darting out to brush against hers.
He removed one hand from its grip on the desk and laid it on her hip prompting her to lift her arm to drape around his neck. Chad pulled her closer to him as she moved her lips more insistently against him. His other hand wrapped around her waist as she made a fist in his shirt.
With a groan, Chad pushed up off the desk and spun them around so that Taylor's bottom pressed against the edge of it. Before he continued, he pulled back, her lips following his.
"Is this okay?" He wasn't sure of anything anymore. His lady radar was so off.
Unsurprisingly, Taylor nodded. "Yeah." She kissed him briefly. "Yes."
Without further prompting, he reached his hands behind her thighs and lifted her to sit on the desk, pushing back items that happened to be in the way.
Taylor brought her hands to Chad's hair and ripped out the hair tie holding it up. Chad hissed at the brief bite of pain as kinky curls fell all around his face. The hiss soon turned to a groan as Taylor's fingers massaged and scratched at his scalp. Albeit a little roughly.
"Just so you know," Taylor said breathlessly between kisses, "I'm still fucking pissed at you."
Yeah, he could tell.
"Noted." He trailed kisses down her neck, to the spot behind her ear that drove her wild.
She moaned loudly, as he knew she would. Tugging on his hair to force him to kiss lower, Taylor let out a frustrated groan when she realized her dress covered a significant amount of skin.
She considered ripping it off.
Chad nipped at whatever skin the dress allowed him to access. She gasped, her hands squeezing in tandem with the thighs around Chad's waist. His hips jutted forward to meet hers causing Taylor's gasp to get swallowed by Chad's groan.
"Fuck. I missed you so much." Chad breathed out, his head lying against Taylor's collarbone.
Taylor gathered his face in her hands and brought it up so they were at eye level. She licked her lips which were swollen and even more plump than before.
"Show me."
Chad's eyes never left hers as he lifted her dress and placed his hands at her bare hips, pulling her towards him so that their lower halves were flush. Then, he pulled them apart and rolled his hips, encouraging her to follow, which she did eagerly. Slowly, they started to rock against each other.
Somehow, Chad's jacket was gone and all the buttons of his dress shirt were undone. Taylor didn't mind, though. Later, it joined the jacket in a pile on the floor.
Taylor freely raked her nails up and down Chad's back, likely leaving marks that none of them cared about at the moment.
Sighs and moans filled the room. Mrs. Darbus would have an aneurysm if she could see what they were doing on her desk. Hands trailed up Taylor's spine to the button at the collar of her dress. Fingers deftly unbuttoned the now suffocating material and unzipped all the way to the middle of her back.
The dress fell loose around her shoulders. Chad pulled the material down to pool around her waist and quickly unclasped her bra without a second to spare. The straps fell down her arms and she threw the bra to some dark corner of the classroom. Her nipples hardened as a rush of cool air blew against her newly exposed skin.
Chad stopped moving and just stared at her, his eyes raking up and down at her bare torso. He watched her like a starving animal. Like he hadn't seen anything more delicious in years. She squirmed under his gaze.
"Stop looking at me like that," she muttered.
One side of Chad's mouth tipped up. "Like what?"
"I don't know. Like…like you're in love with me?" She whispered.
"'Cause I am," Chad frowned.
She didn't meet his eyes.
They've already been down this road. She gave her heart to him and he stomped on it and it hurt. Emotionally, they were both messed up. Is that what love is? Is it supposed to feel this way?
Chad then placed a gentle kiss on her lips. He took his time kissing his way down her body, drawing a nipple into his mouth and sucking hard enough to border on painful. She let out a shocked gasp and then moaned. He smirked against her skin.
Tease.
The next thing Taylor knew, Chad was on his knees and pulling her so that her butt almost hung off the desk. He grabbed the sides of her underwear and pulled it down, placing the lacey fabric in his back pocket before she could protest.
Chad threw Taylor's legs over his shoulders and bunched the skirt of her dress at her abdomen so that she could see his face. Particularly, how close his face was to an area that had been neglected for months. She could feel his breath against her aching core, the little nub there throbbed and she resisted the urge to clench her thighs together.
"I am completely and utterly in love with you, Taylor McKessie. Let me show you."
Then his mouth was on her and Taylor wasn't thinking at all.
