Karna: How are your studies going?

Sorcha: Weird. Like super-weird. I'm actually noticin' a few thins' about the Fodlan language.

Karna: How so? Explain.

*Sorcha raises the book of Fodlan dictionary*

Sorcha: I saw de word "limerick" and dat word is de exact same as de one back at Brigid. Our warriors and heroes composed limerick poems to git a few laughs across the drinkin' tables. Den I saw other words like "slogan" and "phony" being written on der. De way der spelled 'nd spoken... der just Brigidian words used in Fodlan!

Karna: I figured that you would find it eventually. Tell me Sorcha, have you ever heard of the term "cultural appropriation?"

Sorcha: Nah, but I git de feelin' dat it has somethin' to do with me finding words dat I know being used in Fodlan.

Karna: Not all culture is built from the ground up. In fact, nearby cultures take bits and pieces of other local cultures and add it to their own. Fodlan is a weird case, given that their language has origins tracing back to a number of several outside cultures from Brigid, Dagda, Albinea, Almyra and Morfis. It's an amalgam, or a mix of different lexicons put into being.

Sorcha: Den der ripoffs.

Karna: Same can be said for other cultures, including yours, but it doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Sorcha: Meanin'?

Karna: Sorcha, I'm just saying that you can be proud of being a Brigidian. Even through you are in Fodlan and that the Adrestian Empire has humiliated your people and practically colonized your nation, I'm saying that doesn't make you any less of who you are. Cultures are meant to be explored and learned from just like languages.

*Sorcha then accidentally flips to the page with the word "anthropology" written on it*

Sorcha: ... Ye might have a point. I think I was just bitchin' about de fact that we were looked down on even though we're born stronger. I guess when other words from other lands start buggin' me and folks 'round 'ere kept tellin' me to "speak rite" or "don't say it like dat," it bothered me a lot. I saw Petra conforming, 'nd I fekin' hated it. Maybe I just wanna find somethin' else to look down on meself. Heh... guess dat makes me no different from me oppressors.

Karna: Eh, life is cruel like that. Our milage may vary. I mean, I got kidnapped and got sold as a slave before I escaped. And just about every culture has their own bad eggs.

Sorcha: ... Is it possible to make me own culture?

Karna: Dreaming big, aren't you?

Sorcha: *snort* Ye can say dat.
