Oliver and Allie made their way to a nearby park. They found a quiet spot under a tree to sit and enjoy the afternoon. Oliver sat with his back against the tree while Allie was curled up tight next to him. "Allie? I have another secret but you have to promise that you won't tell Eliza." Allie turned so she was facing him, "Is this our third or fourth secret? Is everything okay? Did you hear something about Inspector Wellington today?" Allie's mind raced with all the possible scenarios Oliver could say. Was William okay? Had he gone missing? Had he found someone else and decided to stay in New York? If any of that is what Oliver had to share she was going to be on a boat before the days end, she would bring William back herself if she had to.
Oliver could see the plotting happening that Allie was now distracted by, he leaned forward and brought her forehead to meet his and said, "You always expect the worst don't you?" Allie lowered her head to rest on his shoulder, "I have to, that way if things are good I am also good, if things are bad I will already have a plan to fix it." Oliver place a light kiss on her forehead, "Everything is wonderful, the Inspector will be back in about nine days, just in time for Ivy's wedding and the celebration," Oliver watch the worries evaporate from Allie, "he wrote to ask that I keep it a secret from Eliza so he can surprise her at Ivy's wedding." Allie glanced up at him, "That is the best news! Is he back forever?" Oliver nodded, "I am sure he will be back for as long as Miss Eliza will have him." Allie smiled, She loved them dearly and would do anything for them, but she could only imagine what fuel William added to Eliza's fire. Allie brought the hand that was resting on her shoulder and kissed his hand, "I am going to miss you and this when you go back to William's." Oliver rested his head against hers, "I will miss you, I promise I will make a way to see you each day, let's make the most of today and what we have of tomorrow, maybe you would be able to come help me get settled back at the Inspector's?" Allie nodded, it's been 3 days since they unknowingly jumped into this relationship, it that's what it was. He hadn't asked to court her, maybe he is just assuming that is what is happening or he wants to make sure this isn't some sort of infatuation? Allie let her mind take it step further, was it just her being bold enough to experiment with someone? Oliver noticed she had become quiet and distant, he turned so they were face to face. He cupped her cheek and kissed her cheek before whispering, "I care too deeply for you to just go back to how things were before, I want you to much for that and I will prove to you this is more than a physical attraction. I have never felt this way about anyone before." Allie let a tear slide down her cheek that was kissed away by Oliver. Oliver asked, "I would love to take you to dinner tomorrow night to thank you for taking care of me." Allie smiled, "You want to take me on a date?" Oliver nodded, "If you will have me?" "Of course I will! We should probably head back soon it looks like it is going to rain, Allie said quickly while standing up. There were dark clouds coming and she swore she heard thunder. Oliver stood up and asked if she would like a coach in stead of walk, Allie stated she would rather walk and a little rain never hurt anybody.
The walk was quiet they were about three blocks away when it started to down pour. Allie laughed and spun around with her arms out, Oliver stood with his hands in his pockets and took in the sight in front of him, he wasn't sure how he came to deserve having her in his life but he wanted to keep her there always. Oliver walked over to her and held out his hand, she looked down it at not knowing what its purpose was and put her hand in his, he twirled her and pulled her in close to him. He rested his other hand on the small of her back and she placed hers on his shoulder. He hummed a quiet melody in her ear as they swayed in the rain lost in each other's eyes. Thunder roared loudly and lightning struck letting out a loud snap. Allie pulled away laughing, "We should really get out of this!" Allie started running towards her home and Oliver followed closely, she had beat him up the stairs of the home, she was fumbling with her key to get in the door when he grabbed her waist and turned her towards him. Allie's eyes found his and he kissed her senseless, he gently pushed her up against the door. There was a thud of her back hitting the door, which caught them off guard. The two caught their breath smiling while their foreheads still leaned against each other. The door opened unexpectedly and Allie stumbled backwards, Oliver stepped forward pulling her up and in closer to prevent her from falling. Eliza was surprised to see her cousin and friend in this predicament as she swore she had given Allie a key to come and go as she pleased. Eliza laughed while yelling, "Ivy will you please bring some towels, it appears I have two nearly drowned rats needing to dry off."
