BEEP BEEP BEEP
A pair of azure blue eyes opened and the young silver-haired girl sat up from her bed yawning before hitting her alarm clock. She looked around her room to see a bunch of toys and plushies and boxes. She gets out of bed before going to brush her teeth and prepare for the day. After that was done she headed downstairs to see her father making breakfast.
"Morning Dad." Nero says running up to her father before hugging him using as much strength as possible.
"Happy Birthday Nero. Go ahead and eat then get dressed before everybody shows up." Naruto says he hugged her back before placing down two plates at the table and eating his food. It's been 10 years since Nero was left in his care, but he hasn't regretted it. Nero was the light of his life. She acted like him and Dante but had bits of her mother's personality.
Dante comes around to check up on the two every couple of months or so, and Mary helps Dante run her shop. Dante doesn't seem to be doing well in terms of finance, but that seems to be due to her moral code. She refuses to take jobs that have nothing to do with hunting demons.
He couldn't blame her for that due to her trauma but still, if she is going to live off nothing but pizza and strawberry sundaes for the rest of her life she should at least save up to pay off her debts. That's his main issue with her ."Dad! Dad!" Naruto heard knocking him out of his train of thought.
"Yea"
" I was asking, do you think Dante brought me a gift, but you were staring into space, is something wrong?" Nero asked as she watched her father in curiosity.
"Yea, I'm fine just wondering what I should wear when the guests get here." Naruto says, taking a bite of his food. Then cut into another pancake. His thoughts then turned to the older couple that helped him raise his daughter. He met the family not long after moving to Fortuna. Nero got along with their children pretty well which was good. Nero could always use some friends. While their parents taught Naruto about the order of the sword. The Religion which this island follows.
Safe to say that this island worshiping Sparda as a God kinda worried him; it didn't help that they have that strange construction site he saw a few days ago that seemed to be a statue. He was curious but it seems harmless for now and he couldn't exactly go around destroying buildings. He had a daughter to raise.
A couple of hours fly by and Naruto hears the doorbell ring. Walking towards the door he opens it to see a family of three on the other side. The father is a tall man with brown eyes and wearing a white cowl covering his head and shoulders. He also wore a brown buttoned-up shirt with matching pants and boots.
The woman next to him also wore a white cowl and a blue dress. She also has brown eyes. She was holding on to a little girl around Nero's age. Who seemed to be holding a wrapped-up red box. These are the Kades, the father Adam, the mother Katherine, and the daughter Kyrie.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Kade. Hello Kyrie."
"Hello, Mr. Uzumaki./ Hello Naruto/Neighbor." The family says in unison. Naruto moves out of the way to let the family in to celebrate Nero's birthday.
"Where's Credo?" Naruto asked, noticing the families missing their oldest child.
"He's gone until the weekend. He says something about a ceremony that his Holiness invited him to." Adam says.
"Huh, maybe he could tell me all about it when he visits." Naruto says, closing the door.
Dante pov
Dante hadn't changed much in the last 10 years besides her hair getting longer. She did however change her outfit. Dante wears red short pants that reach her thighs, a black leather belt, black gloves, and high, black boots. Dante still wears a red coat, with short sleeves with black cuffs, though the coat lacks coattails. Underneath the coat, Dante wears what appears to be a black crop top with a red vest with black clasps over it revealing her stomach and waist.
"Dante, why are we here? I told you we should go destroy Mundus. He could be planning something." She heard behind her. Dante lightly turns her head to see another woman walking a few feet behind her. The woman has long blonde hair, and blue eyes that are covered by a pair of black shades. She's wearing black leather pants, high-heeled boots, a corset that pushes up her bust, a choker, and a wrist accessory.
"Sorry, I need to do something first. It's important. Hope you don't mind the little detour, Trish." She says walking up to a door and knocking on it.
Knock Knock Knock
The door quickly opened not even a minute later to reveal Nero wearing a pretty blue dress.
"Dante" Nero runs and hugs her aunt
"Hey Nero Happy Birthday. Here I got you something." Dante says pulling out an envelope from her cleavage before handing it to Nero.
"Thank you, Dante. Whose she?" Nero says, looking at Trish.
Trish wondered at the child with suspicion. "She has demonic blood and by the silverish hair, she must be related to Dante. Could she be Dante's kid or maybe?" She thought before feeling an elbow hit her in the stomach.
"Hey, she asked you a question."
"Oh, I'm sorry. My name is Trish. It's nice to meet you, Nero."
"Nice to meet you, Trish."
"So Nero, where's your dad?
"He is talking with Kyrie's parents. Come on." The little girl says, leading them inside her home.
"Dante is she your?" Trish says, letting the question hang.
All Dante did was shake her head no before saying."But sometimes I wish she was."
"And her father?"
"Great guy raises Nero very well. Might need his help with this contract."
"Dante, I don't think it's a good thing to separate a man from his daughter. What if he dies?"
"He won't. He may not have been in nonstop combat since Nero was born but he isn't rusty either. Think it's safe to say he would've joined us either way seeing as he wants a shot at Mundus too." Dante says as they made it to the living room to see a whole other family sitting on the couch.
"Hello everyone. How are you?"
"Hi/Hello/Good morning!" The Kade family says in unison.
"Where's Naruto?"
"He should be here soon. My wife and I have been curious about something But we were wondering if you are Nero's mother. Ouch, that hurts." Adam says before getting elbowed by his wife.
"That's none of our business." Katherine says, scolding her husband.
"Come on, you're just as curious as I am." Adam says, rubbing his stomach.
"Maybe so. But like I said, it's none of our business." She says sternly.
"I guess you're right."
Before anything else could be said Naruto then enters the room with a large cake that says happy birthday on it with 10 candles lit on it. Nero excitedly ran towards her father as he placed the cake down on the table. Nero takes a seat in front of the cake as everyone gathers around her as they all begin to sing Happy Birthday to her. As they finished singing Nero stared at the cake before looking up at her smiling father.
"Go ahead, Nero blow out the candles and make a wish." He says watching his daughter think hard for a few seconds before blowing out the candles.
"So what did you wish for Nero?" Dante asked as she shook her head before waving her aunt to come closer and whispering in her ear her wish.
"That depends on your dad. But I'll try my best."
"What was your wish, Nero?"
"I'm not telling." She says, turning her head away from her father.
"Don't worry I'll tell you later." Dante says, placing a hand on Naruto's shoulder.
A few minutes later
Trish was watching the family event with curiosity. She had never seen this type of thing before but she seemed to get some kinda joy out of it. She was used to seeing such positive emotions. The way Naruto treated Nero, the way Nero bonded with the other little girl, and the way the two families trusted each other. All this seemed to move her, but she couldn't let it get to her she had orders to carry out. Seeing as Dante was probably gonna convince Naruto to come along means Mundus was gonna kill him as well leaving Nero an orphan.
"The way Nero seemed so happy. Maybe I could- No I have to carry out Lord Mundus's wishes." She thought to herself as she watched the interactions around her.
"You ok?" She heard as she turned and saw Naruto walking towards her while holding a plate of cake.
"Trish right? Dante told me you're her newest client. I know you didn't plan this but thank you for coming." He says handing her the plate which she accepted.
"Thank you and yes I'm asking her to help me defeat Mundus. She says you might be able to help, but I don't think it's a good idea seeing as you have a child." Trish says
"Of course, I'm going to come."
"But your child-Do you have children, Trish?"
"No."
"When you have a child a proper parent does anything to protect them. While Nero does still need me. But Mundus is a huge threat if he isn't destroyed now he will come back, possibly even more powerful." Naruto says, turning his head to see Nero and Kyrie playing.
"I don't want Nero or any other child to have to pick up their parents' slack if Mundus comes back. Do you understand?"
"Yes, I do."
"Good, let me just get Nero ready and get my gear and I'll be ready." Naruto says walking over to Nero and the Kades.
"Excuse Adam, Katherine I have a request. Something important came up and I was wondering if you could watch Nero for a while?" He says
"Of course we can, Nero is always welcomed in our home." Katherine says with Adam nodding in agreement.
"Thank you, I truly appreciate this."
"No problem, we know you would do the same for us." Adam says.
"Alright, then Nero come here." He says as Nero walked over to her father. Naruto got down on one knee and placed his hands on Nero's shoulders
"Nero I'm gonna help Dante out on a job for a bit your going to be staying with Kyrie's family until I get back, Ok."
Nero pulls her father into a hug before whispering back"Ok but be careful Dad."
"I will now go get packed. I'll get rid of all the decorations I'll help with as soon as I'm done."
He says as she runs off to pack some clothes.
Naruto started to pull down the decorations before throwing them away. Not long later Nero comes back with a backpack full of clothes, games, and snacks.
She runs to her father one last time to hug him. Naruto immediately returns the hug holding his daughter as tightly as possible. He then kisses her forehead and rattles her hair. She hugs him one last time before pulling back and running to the Kade family who were waiting at the door.
"Be careful Dad, I love you." she says as Adam opens the door to let the others out Adam looks at Naruto with a serious face before wishing him luck. Nero waves goodbye to her father and aunt who wave back as she steps out herself.
Naruto stops waving before walking back to his room to grab his black cloak before putting it on and zipping it up.
"Alright, I'm ready to go. So where are we going?"
"Mallet island, ever heard of it?"
"Yea, the strangest island in history. So that's where Mundus is?." He says, looking towards Trish.
"Yes."
"Alright, then when are we leaving?"
"Right now." Dante says pulling out a set of keys.
Several hours later
"So are you going to tell me how'd you get a boat?"
"Morrison let me have it. He says he won it in a bet, but I'm not so sure." Dante says finding a place to park the boat.
Walking around the island for a bit the three see a set of large doors. Dante pulls out the Rebellion and cuts open the doors.
Trish walks forward before turning and saying "The castle is on top of the cliff. Come on." She then jumps onto a high level of the cliff.
"Why aren't you going after her, can't you fly?" Dante says to Naruto.
"Maybe but I wanna learn more about the island. Plus I don't exactly trust Trish." He says, noticing a hole in the wall of the castle they can go into.
"After you." He says letting Dante go first.
"Such a gentleman." She says going through the hole with Naruto following behind her.
As they enter the lower level of the castle the hole in the wall starts to repair itself, but Dante and Naruto do pay it any mind.
"So did you enjoy the view?"
"What are you talking about Dante? What view?"
"So you weren't using the whole gentleman act as an excuse for checking me out."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Oh, sure." She says with a smirk while looking around the room and seeing two doors, a red one and a blue one.
"I'll check the blue door." Naruto says and tries to turn the doorknob but can't reveal it's locked.
"Mine locked, what about you?"
"Mine isn't. Guess we're going this way."
Naruto summons Masamune before slicing down the door and part of the wall before walking right through the hole.
"Or you could just do that." Dante says before running to catch up with him.
The duo enters a new room to see a bunch of crates full of medieval weapons and armor and a Biplane from the early 20th century.
"What the hell is this plane doing here?"
"It still works." Dante says surprised after turning it on before quickly turning it off.
"I'm gonna go on ahead. See if I can find anything "
"Alright, I'll catch up soon big bro."
"Don't worry I'm not going too far-what did you just call me?"
"What I can't give you a nickname? If you don't like it I can call you something else."
"Dante be serious. Something is wrong here. "
"What do you mean?"
"It's Trish."
"What about her?"
"She knew exactly where the island is, she's a demon who hired you to kill Mundus who she also knew was on the island, and the fact that she looks like your mother from what you've told me."
"What are you saying?"
"That Trish is not only working with Mundus but now he also knows about Nero."
"You can't just assume she works for him-"
"Dante I understand losing your parents was hard on you and Vergil. Trust me I understand that's why I wanna raise Nero and give her the parental love that we all lost. But if Nero gets hurt because Mundus now knows my daughter exists then- I understand." Dante interrupts.
"Nero's like a daughter to me. And you two are the only family I've got left. So I'm willing to do anything to protect the two of you. Trust me Nero will be fine." Dante says pulling Naruto into a hug.
Naruto noticed all the emotions that Dante was feeling, mostly anger and sadness. She's been like this ever since she was forced to fight Vergil. It crushed her to be forced to fight her remaining family. Sure meeting him and Nero and watching her grow healed her a bit, but she was still hurting. She felt it was her duty to wipe out all the demons. To clean up her father's mess, but she didn't want to be alone. While she accepted her demonic heritage she felt she couldn't do things she wanted to do. Such as having a normal life away from demons. Maybe starting a family of her own, but life wasn't fair and she had a job to do.
"Plus I thought you would want to come. Seeing as Mundus took away Nero's mother." Dante says.
"Thanks for considering that. I'm always here to help if you need me."
"No problem. All right, that's enough hugging, pretty sure if we stayed like this too much longer we might not leave the island without giving Nero a sibling." Dante says, smirking and pulling back from the hug.
On cue, a bunch of Marionette demons appears in front of them. "Good thing we didn't go any further or else they would have ruined the moment huh." She says before pulling out her guns twirling them on her fingers before aiming them at the Marionettes.
"They would've been rude. Guess we have to teach them some manners." He says summoning Masamune and impaling it into the nearest demon before throwing it at one another with enough force to send them both flying into a wall. Dante shoots the Marionettes using shotguns starting a firefight. She headshots another demon before grabbing the rebellion and throwing at a set of demons slashing at both of their sides and cutting them both in half.
Naruto dodges and blocks several daggers being thrown his way then grabs the nearest demon before using it as a shield to block an incoming shotgun blast. He then throws a spike of ice at the Shotgun Marionette that slowly starts to freeze the demon before shattering.
Dante pulls out Agni and Rudra before combining them and twirling them above her head creating a twister and lifting all the marionette demons into the air getting carried by the twister.
Naruto, seeing an opportunity, points his index finger at the twister before shooting out a bolt of lightning at the twister destroying all the demons caught in the storm.
Seeing as the demons were dead Dante walks over to reclaim the rebellion."It is good that you have not forgotten us." Agni says
"I think so too brother." Rudra agrees
The duo hears coming for Dante's swords. Her forehead starts to twitch before she yells." I thought I told you two. No Talking." Before grabbing the brothers and slamming their heads against each other.
"Oh come on Dante what else are they supposed to do? They can't do anything until you use them in a fight."
"Trust me if you met them when I did. You'd understand. These two can talk forever."
"I'm confused, mistress, is this man your mate?" Rudra says in confusion.
Dante blushes hearing the question before grabbing the swords and slamming their heads together again.
"That's it no more talking from either of you. Got it?" She says in a threatening tone.
She looks at the heads for a total of five seconds. Hearing nothing and appreciating the silence she says"Good." Before placing them on her back.
"I don't think you should be so hard on them. They can't do anything else."
"Hey, they beg me to come if they're gonna stay with me they are gonna live by my rules."
"Wow, when did you become a parent?"
"Shut up."
Elsewhere
Trish sat kneeling in front of an angelic statue. But that couldn't be any farther from holy. In front of Trish sat one of the most powerful beings in the demonic realm Mundus the Demon King.
"So it is true Sparda has a Grandchild. It's like his entire bloodline has the desire to challenge me."
"Yes My lord she is young and bears next to no demonic power."
"Be that as it may she may come to seek revenge once her father dies. Kill her." He orders.
"But My Lord she is but a child."
"A child that bears the blood of Sparda. Kill her. DO YOU UNDERSTAND."
"Yes my lord." Trish says with complete submission.
"Good due to bringing me such information you won't be killed for your outburst. Now leave me."
Trish gets up and walks away leaving Mundus alone.
"Would it not be cruel for a mother who created life to take a child's life away, especially her own."Mundus thought to himself until he sensed another presence near him.
He sees his newest demon,a knight created to somewhat resemble Sparda. Olive green armor with blue lines that resemble veins, a purple cape and helmet with orange eyes and blue and red horns providing from the top of his head , and also has round shoulder pauldrons, a pointed chest plate, and grieves with spiked knee pads.
"Nelo Angelo you know your orders kill the intruders."
Nelo just nods before disappearing in a torrent of blue flames once again leaving the demon king alone."It's taken longer than I wanted but I will finally erase your bloodline Sparda. And my revenge shall be complete."
