Darryl's Weekend List:

SPECIAL NOTE: Molly had gotten her first period about a week before this story.

It was a great afternoon in Brighton. At Brighton middle school, it was 2:55pm. Darryl was waiting anxiously for school to finish. He looked over a list he had made specifically for this weekend. He planned to do all the things on that list with his older sister Molly. At 3:00, the bell rang, signaling the end of school. All the kids ran out, excited for the weekend. Darryl ran to his sister...

Darryl: Hey, Molly, do you have anything planned for the weekend?

Molly: Hmm... (thinks for a moment) well, Libby is going to be busy helping her mom at the bookstore, and Scratch has 'important chairman duties' he needs to do this week, so no, I don't have anything important.

Darryl: Perfect. Then, I thought that this weekend, we could do everything planned on my list together, you and me!

Molly looked at her brother suspiciously, then took the folded paper, and looked at his list. After she read it, she had a puzzled look on her face...

Molly: Well, Darryl, I'll be ready to do this stuff with you tomorrow.

Darryl: All right, Molly. You know to get up early for it, right?

Molly nodded, then she and Darryl walked home. While walking, Molly talked with Scratch...

Molly: Wow, Scratch, I thought Darryl's list would require scams that would get us in trouble. But I think this time, he has some great ideas for us to do tomorrow.

Scratch: Yeah, I would love to join you guys for them, (frowns) buy unfortunately, as 'The Chairman,' the Ghost Council has stuff for me to do for them. At least, leave out some breakfast for me.

Molly nodded, and said, 'Of course, Scratch.'

The two McGee kids and their ghost friend soon were at home. That night, in his bedroom, Darryl was setting his alarm clock...

Darryl: (to himself) Yup, me and my big sister are going to have a lot of fun tomorrow.

Darryl set his clock to the time he wanted to get up at, then put it back on his dresser, and went to bed. In her attic bedroom, Molly was about to go to bed, too...

Molly: We're both gonna have some fun tomorrow. Maybe if it goes well, I could get Darryl to do this stuff every weekend instead of those crazy ideas he has.

Scratch: (shakes his head) Yeah, I wouldn't count on it, Moll. Good night.

Scratch flew into the dollhouse to get some shut eye. Molly says to herself, 'We'll see, scratch,' then got onto her bed and went to sleep. The next morning, at 8:00am, Darryl and Molly's alarm clocks rung loudly, waking them up out of bed. In Darryl's room...

Darryl: Oh, it's time to do the stuff on my list!

In Molly's room...

Molly: I'm ready for some great fun with my little brother!

Scratch yawned, and says, 'I got work to do in the ghost world.' A hole appeared above himself, and he flew up into it. Molly headed downstairs, with Darryl coming down behind her...

Molly: (excitedly) Alright, Darryl, are we ready to start the day?!

Darryl: Yes. (he gets the list out and looks at it) The first thing we'll do together is watch at least 2 hours of cartoons, while also eating 2 bowls of cereal.

Molly: Okay, I'll get the cereal ready, you put Netflix on.

Molly went to the kitchen, and got out a box of Sugar Smacks cereal, along with a jug of milk. She carefully put the cereal and milk into the bowls. Darryl looked onto Netflix for cartoons to watch he saw a cartoon that interested him...

Darryl:'Glitch Techs?'

After Darryl read the description of what that cartoon was about, he was ready...

Darryl: Molly! I found a good cartoon to watch!

Molly: I'm coming, Darryl!

Molly came in, carrying a tray with 4 bowls of sugar smacks cereal, and 2 cups of orange juice.

Molly: Okay, Darryl, let's see what you've picked.

Darryl pressed the play button on the remote, and 'Glitch Techs' started. Molly and Darryl were soon enjoying their bowls of Sugar Smacks cereal and orange juice. They were liking the cartoons. They watched 4 full episodes of 'Glitch Techs' before they stopped...

Molly: Whoa, I loved those cartoons, Darryl!

Darryl: Yeah, two human kids fighting against video game monsters, that was cool!

Molly: What do you want to do next?

Darryl looked at his list, and says, 'Play catch in the park.'

Molly: Great, I'll go get my ball and mitt.

Both of them went back to their bedrooms to change out of their pajamas, and into their regular clothes. Darryl went downstairs with his baseball mitt with Molly right behind him, with her baseball mitt and ball, then they both walked together to the park. Soon, they found a clear spot there to play catch...

Molly: Alright, Darryl, first I'll throw the ball to you, then you catch it, then you throw it back to me, and I'll catch it, then repeat that pattern, okay?

Darryl: I got it!

Molly threw the ball to Darryl, who caught it, then he threw it back to his sister, who caught it as well, and so on. About a half hour later, a beep on Molly's watch was heard. Molly looked at her watch to see what time it was...

Molly: Oh, Darryl, we've got to get home for lunch. We can do the rest of the stuff on your list afterwards, okay.

Darryl: (sighs) Fine, Let's take a break.

Molly and Darryl walked back home to have lunch with their parents. After they finished their lunch...

Molly: Darryl, what are we doing now?

Darryl looked at the list, and he read, 'Ride our bikes through Brighton together.'

Molly: That's a great choice. Let's go get our bikes out of the garage.

The two McGee kids went to the garage, and walked their bikes outside. Then they put on their helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads...

Molly: Alright, Darryl, now we can ride our bikes through Brighton.

Darryl nodded, then he and molly got on their bikes, and rode them together through Brighton. while Molly and Darryl were riding, they saw a lot of places: Brighton Middle School, the park, the Brighton Bandshell, Book Marks The Spot, the Brighton Hills retirement home, Weird Larry's pawn shop, the Brighton Bargain Bag, the town library, and more. After a long bike ride, Molly and Darryl returned home...

Molly: Darryl, is there anything else we're doing?

Darryl: (looks at his list) There's only one thing left. 'Go to the movies with my big sister.'

Molly: (chuckles) After a fun day, I sure would want to watch a fun movie with my little brother. Let's see what's playing at the theater.

Molly got out her smartphone, and checked what was playing at the movie theater. She then showed the choice, who whispered to molly the movie he wanted to see...

Molly: (excited) That's a great choice, Darryl! If we start pedaling, we could get there in time. With that, Molly and Darryl were now riding their bikes to the movie theater. They got there with 10 minutes to spare. Molly and Darryl went to the ticket counter, and Molly said, 'Hi, we'd like 2 tickets for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, please.' The ticket guy gave 2 tickets to Molly and Darryl, then they went into the theater, found the numbered room where The Super Mario Bros. Movie was playing, and went in there together. The two McGee kids chose a pair of seats on the higher level, so they would see it better.

Molly and Darryl had a great time seeing the movie. When they left the theater, they got on their bikes. While riding home, they had a conversation...

Molly: That movie was great!

Darryl: Yeah, I don't regret my choice. That film had great stuff based on the video game, like Sonic the Hedgehog did!

Molly: Hey Darryl, race you home!

Darryl: It's on!

Molly and Darryl rode as fast as they could on their bikes. Because Molly was older and taller than Darryl, she got back to their house first with her fast pedaling, though Darryl kept up very close behind her. Before they went inside, another conversation happened...

Darryl: (happily) We did everything on my list!

Molly: (just as happy) I'd just like to say, that I've had a lot of fun doing these activities with you today, Darryl.

Darryl: And I also got the opportunity to bond with my big sister.

Darryl wrapped his arms around Molly, and gave her a hug. Molly was touched by this, and hugged Darryl back. After about a minute, the two siblings let go of each other...

Darryl: I hope that next month, we could do more fun activities together, just the two of us.

Molly: Oh, Darryl, I'd be willing to spend more time together next Week, if you want to.

Darryl: Oooh, Molly, sorry, but I have other things to do next week. I can only plan these out one time per month.

Molly was a bit suspicious, but says, 'Okay, next month it is,' and gave a thumbs-up. Darryl gave a thumbs-up to molly in return. The two Mcgee kids went back into their house, and up to their rooms. When molly got back to her attic bedroom, scratch appeared, returning from his chairman duties in the ghost world.

Scratch: So, Moll, how was your day with Darryl?

Molly: So fun! We not only finished everything on that list, scratch, but we also bonded more during the day!

Scratch: You have?

Molly: Yes, and Darryl is also willing to do some more fun activities with me again next month.

Scratch: Well, that's super.

Molly saw on her clock that it was almost time for dinner, so she (and Darryl) washed up in the bathroom. Then the two siblings went downstairs, and sat at the kitchen table to join their parents for dinner. Molly and Darryl had a great Saturday by doing everything on Darryl's weekend list. They both enjoyed what was left of the day by having dinner with her parents, then watched some TV, before the McGee kids went to bed, officially ending their fun day together.
