Ryoichi POV
"His quirk is having a tail? That seems pretty lame."
"Yeah and look at the size of it, there's no way he can be a hero with a tail like that."
Those were the things I heard from the other kids when I developed my "quirk". The whole class was laughing at me and calling me names. Even my friends made fun of me. My tail wasn't even my quirk, it was something I always had. It's hard for me to explain, but all I know is that I'm quirkless.
"Why are you guys being so mean? I-I can still become a hero, even though I have a small tail!" Some bullies were picking on me for my tail and I was trying to defend myself.
"Heh, you think you can become a hero with a tail like that? If you want to be a hero so badly, then why don't you prove it to us and fight us!"
I tensed up a little when he said to fight them.
"What's wrong monkey boy, Too scared to fight?"
"N-no! I'm not scared! I-I can fight, I-" I was getting tensed up while defending myself.
"You know what, I'm getting bored. Come on boys lets-"
Before they could hurt me, a voice made them stop.
"Hey, leave him alone!"
I looked over to see where the voice came from and saw a boy about my age with black eyes and black hair.
"Yeah, Or what?"
"Or I'll start baking you, both figuratively and very literally."
Fire started to form around his hands. I looked back at the bullies and they looked so scared that they were about to pee on themselves.
"O-Oh crap, this guy's not joking!"
"Let's get out of here!"
The bullies then ran away. The black haired boy then started walking towards me and I closed my eyes for a punch to the face. I waited for the impact but when I opened my eyes, I saw him offering his hand.
"Are you alright?" He asked, sounding concerned for me.
"I-I'm fine. Why did you help me back there?" I asked him.
"I didn't like how they were treating you about your tail, calling you names like 'monkey boy' and how no one would stand up for you, not even your friends."
"Well... thanks." I said, but still scared if he was going to hurt me.
"No problem. My name's Akio Mendez, you can call me Akio." He introduced himself to me and helped me up.
" I'm… I'm Ryoichi Akatani, I prefer to be called Ryoichi."
"Wait Akatani? Like Yui Akatani? Are you her son?" He asked, sounding surprised.
"Yeah, how do you know my mom?"
"Are you kidding? She's one of my favorite heroes! I like it when she beats the bad guys and all the villains fear her!" He said as he mimicked some fighting moves.
"Yeah, my mother's great, isn't she?" I smiled a little bit. "She's so amazing, I want to be a hero like her."
"I can see why. You're her son and all. But me?" He trailed off with a smirk on his face. "I wanna be a great hero like All Might!" He said with determination.
"Like All Might?" I asked what he meant by that.
"He's strong and cool! Plus, whenever he gets that job done, he comes out on top with the people he saved. How about this?" He then proposed to me about something. "Maybe when we're older, we'll help each other to become great heroes. How does that sound?"
"Really?" I was slowly feeling less sad and more happy when he told me that. All the other kids would make fun of me and try to make me drop my dream. But, Akio's different from the others.
"Yeah! I really mean it!" He said with excitement.
I felt excited too by his determination to become a hero, so I decided I will try my best. From that day, I've made a true friend. One that doesn't judge anyone by their looks and treats them equally. Akio and I have become best friends since then. We would come to each other's house to hang out and watch tv to see heroes in action. One time when he came to my house and saw my mom, he almost passed out.
When he found out that my family was actually quirkless, he was confused on how my mom had inhuman strength and I had my tail. So, the next day, I told him what we actually were.
"Wait, hold on, you're a what?" He looked confused when I told him that we were saiyans. Something that my mom told me when I asked about my tail.
"Me and my family are 'saiyans.' I don't fully understand it yet, but all I know is that we're born with tails and are a bit stronger… and we're quirkless…" I said that last part quietly while looking down.
"Oh, but why are you sad?" He asked.
"It's just… Now that you know what I actually am, you probably hate me now, don't you?" I said, sounding sad.
Suddenly, I felt his hand on my shoulder and I looked at him surprised.
"Honestly, I don't care if you're human or not. You're still a person, and that's what matters." He said surprisingly.
"So, you're not mad? Not even if I lied?" I asked him, still worried if he'll turn his back on me.
"Of course not! You didn't really lie to me. We're friends right? So, we should look out for each other."
I looked at him with wide eyes and felt more happy that he would be my actual friend. I smiled at him and felt more happy.
"Right!"
I then heard someone crying. I looked at where it was coming from and saw a boy with green hair being picked on by a boy with blonde hair and his friends.
"Hey Akio."
"Yeah?"
"Isn't that the kid that doesn't have a quirk?" I asked as my voice was concerned for the kid.
Akio then looked where I was looking and saw the green haired boy being picked on.
"Yeah, it is actually." His voice slowly became angry when he saw him.
"We should help him before he gets hurt. I think that's the blonde kid whose quirk is making explosives from his hands."
"Yeah, I think you're right! Let's help him, quick!"
We rushed to help the quirkless boy from being beaten by the explosive boy.
Midoriya POV
"Heh, you wanna pretend to be a hero? You don't stand a chance without a quirk Deku!"
They all charged at me. I covered my face with my arms for the impact. As I waited, I felt nothing. As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw a stone wall that was between me and Kacchan.
"What the?!
"Hey!"
I looked and saw two boys about my age. One had dark spiky hair with blue eyes and the boy standing next to him had black hair and golden eyes.
"Well well, if it isn't monkey boy. You want to get beaten to a pulp as well?"
"Z-zip it Cabba!" He said, trying to sound brave, but was slightly scared still.
"What did you call me?!"
Kacchan and his friends then charged at him. Before he could use his explosives, another stone wall got between them. He looked surprised and then looked at the golden eyed kid as he had
"You hurt my friend or broccoli boy over there, I'm gonna lose it."
'Broccoli boy?' I thought in confusion.
"Tch! You're lucky this time, Deku!"
Kacchan and his friends then started to run away from the black haired kid and the kid with the tail. When they were approaching me, I thought they were gonna hurt me but the kid with the tail reached his hand out to me
"Are you alright?"
"I-I'm fine." I grabbed his hand as he helped me up.
"That kid doesn't seem to like you at all."
"Oh Kacchan? He does that every time now because I don't have a quirk." I said with sadness in my voice.
"Oh, I see." The golden eyed kid said with some hatred in his voice.
"Well don't let him get you. I think I know what'll make you feel better, here."
"Huh?" I tilted my head in confusion.
The tailed kid pulled out something, and it made my eyes go wide.
"Is that the exclusive rare Yui action figure?! These action figures are so rare that they sell them almost around Japan! How did you get this, I thought they were sold out?"
"Well…" He trailed off while looking away in embarrassment.
I was frozen at the moment from what he said but then realized what he meant.
"A-are you her son?"
"U-um…" He tried to deny the question but it only confirmed it.
"You are her son? No way! That's so cool! Your mom is so amazing!" I said with excitement.
"R-really? Thanks. I'm Ryoichi." He introduced himself to me. "And this is Akio."
"Heyo, nice to meet you." Akio said introducing himself
"Thank you. I'm Izuku Midoriya."
"It's nice to meet you too, Midoriya. A little fun fact about me and Ryoichi here…" He trailed off as Akio pulled Ryoichi close to him. "Ryoichi's a saiyan and I'm a valkyur." He said with confidence.
"A saiyan? Valkyur? What are those?" I asked in clear confusion.
"Well, to put it simply, Valkyur's are still humans, just that we get something special when we hit a certain age. I don't know what it is, but my parents said it's something for me that will help me become a great hero." He said with excitement. "And a saiyan is what Ryoichi and his family is. That explains a lot how his mom is strong and became well known."
"Akio, should we really tell him about me?" Ryoichi said while being nervous as he rubbed his arm.
"N-no, it's fine really." I told him. "You guys are so special and amazing. I wish I had abilities like you…" I was a bit jealous of them and felt sad, due to me being quirkless.
"Hey, Midoriya, it's alright." Akio said to me as he sat next to me. "So what if you're quirkless? You can still be a hero."
"Really?" I asked him.
"Yeah!" He said as he smiled at me.
I felt some hope from him when he told me that. Then Ryoichi sat next to me as he smiled as well.
"And hey, we can help each other to be the heroes we want to be. What do you think?" Ryoichi told me.
I looked at them and felt inspired that they believed I can still become a hero. From that point, we became close friends. They would have my back when it came to the other kids picking on me, but when it came to Kacchan, I told them not to worry since I was close with him. Ryoichi understood while Akio was against it but agreed as well. We stood by each other's side and helped each other with our dreams of becoming heroes.
Third Person POV
Things were looking smoothly for the trio of friends, until Ryoichi's family had to move. It was sad for them to separate but they promised to each other that they'll see each other again some day. As they were unpacking for their new house, Yui was approached by someone she knew before and was invited to their place. Once they were done unpacking, Yui took Ryoichi along with her to her old friend's place and they stood in front of a mansion. He was nervous as he hid behind her and gripped onto her leg.
"It's ok, there's nothing to be scared of." Yui said, trying to comfort her son.
Yui rang the doorbell and a voice came from it. The gates opened as Ryoichi jumped and held on tighter to her. They walked in and once they entered the mansion, they were amazed by the size of the inside of it. Then, a woman in a dress called out to Yui and rushed down the stairs to greet her.
"Yui! It's great to see you again!" The woman said with excitement.
"It's nice to see you too, Yumi. It's been a while hasn't it?"
"It sure has been."
She then noticed Ryoichi hiding her behind leg as he got scared and hid himself from her.
"Oh? And who's this little guy?" Yumi asked in curiosity.
"This is Ryoichi, my youngest son."
Youngest? You have kids?"
"Yeah well, he has a twin sister so, they're both the youngest out of my children. Why don't you say hi to him?"
Yumi was about to say hi but he only hid himself even more.
"Don't worry Ryoichi, it's fine. She's a friend. She won't hurt you." Yui said as she tried to have him be less scared.
He only stepped out a little and saw Yumi wave at him but he hid himself again.
"He's a little shy, isn't he?"
"Yeah, we just moved here to... make him feel more safe." Yui said as she felt bad about her choice.
"More safe?"
Yumi looked at her in confusion and looked down as she saw a tail and noticed that it belonged to Ryoichi.
"Oh." Yumi then whispered to Yui. "Was he being bullied because of his tail and how it looks?"
Yui only nodded as she looked sad at her.
"I see... Did he have some friends?"
"He did, but their parents can't afford to move into an area like here, so it's gonna be hard for him to make new friends."
"Hmmm…" Yumi thought of something to make Ryoichi more comfortable and then came up with something. Oh! Did I tell you I have a daughter?"
"You do? Just what have I been missing all these years? Sorry for not checking in on you by the way." Yui apologized while rubbing the back of her head.
"Oh, it's fine really. You were just busy with hero work and taking care of your children. Plus, I'm sure your son will love to meet her."
"Well, what do you say? Wanna make a new friend?" Yui asked Ryoichi.
Ryoichi only looked up at her and nervously nodded. Yumi then took them around the big mansion to take them to, supposedly, her daughter's room.
"So, what have you been doing for the past couple of years?" Yumi asked.
"Oh, you know. Taking care of the kids, the agency is doing well and... still trying to cope with the fact that…" She trailed off, remembering what happened that day.
"Oh Yui, I am terribly sorry for what happened. He was a good man." She said as she comforted her.
"Yeah…"
She sniffed as she wiped her face so Ryoichi wouldn't see her cry. They arrived at the room and entered.
"Momo, sweetie? I have a surprise guest for you."
A little girl that was seemingly the same age as Ryoichi with black hair that was tied into a spiky ponytail turned her attention to her mother and her eyes gleamed with joy.
"Is that-?" She asked in excitement.
"Yes it is! The number 3 hero, the symbol of hope, Yui!" Yumi said, trying to make things more dramatic.
"Hello there."
Momo then jumped with joy and ran over to them.
"Your daughter is really a big fan of mine."
"Well, I did tell her about you, and I promised her to have her meet you one day."
Yui chuckled and looked back at the excited kid. She then kneeled down to where she was at eye view with her.
"Hi! You're so amazing and strong! I wanna be a hero like you someday!" Momo said with pure joy.
"Is that so? Well, I'm sure you'll make a fine hero some day.
"Really?!" She said with joy.
"Absolutely."
"Thank you Ms. Yui! Umm... I wanna know, how strong are you?" Momo asked her, trying to contain her excitement.
"How strong am I? Well…"
She then grabbed Momo from under her arms and lifted her up in the air.
"Why this strong of course!"
Momo was giggling as she was being lifted up in the air and Yui spun them around. She then set her down and Momo then noticed Ryoichi peeking from the side of the door.
"Mama, who's that boy?" She asked in curiosity.
"Him? That's her son, Ryoichi. How about you say hi to him?"
She then went to greet herself.
"Hello! I'm Momo Yaoyorozu!" She introduced herself to him.
She reached out her hand for him to shake but he only backed away a little bit. She was confused at his reaction.
"Oh don't worry dear, he's just a little shy."
"Oh. Hey, it's ok. I won't hurt you. I just wanna be your friend." She said calmly to him.
She reached her hand out to him again. He looked at it then at her and nervously reached out and shook it.
"H-Hi…" He was still nervous of her.
"See? You're already great friends! Now, you two have a little play date while me and Mrs. Akatani have a little adult talk."
They nodded as Yumi and Yui left to let them play with each other. Momo was showing him the dolls she made while Ryoichi was hugging his knees, still being nervous.
"What do you think about my dolls? They're pretty amazing right?"
"Y-yeah... You made those?" Ryoichi asked her.
"With my quirk, yes. I can make anything! How cool is that?" Momo said, sounding impressed of herself.
"That's really cool... I wish I had a quirk like you though."
"Huh? But isn't your tail your quirk?
"No... The only reason I have this tail is because I'm actually a saiyan...
"A saiyan?" She tilted her head in confusion.
"I don't understand yet either, but all I know is that I'm quirkless and I'll never become a hero like my mom or dad."
He began to tear up and Momo looked at him sad. She felt bad for him and wanted to help him. She then stood up in front of him with a determined look.
"Well... I say you can still be a hero! Even without a quirk, I'm positive you'll be a great hero!"
"R-really?" He felt some motivation from what she told him.
"Mhm, absolutely!"
She smiled at him as he formed a small smile back at her. They became close friends as they would visit each other and have a playdate and celebrate Halloween together. One day, they were playing on a playground until four kids that looked 2 years older than them walked up to them.
"Hey kid. This is our sandbox. Move it."
"B-but, we got here first." Momo calm
"Oh yeah? And we don't care, now beat it or…" He trailed off as the bully grabbed her by her ponytail and she was screaming in pain.
"We'll teach you not to take our stuff."
"P-please! Don't hurt me!" She pleaded from being harmed.
"Let her go!"
Ryoichi ran at them and punched one of the bullies in the gut, making them let go of Momo. She got behind him as he got into a fighting pose.
"Are you ok?"
"Y-yeah…"
The bully held his gut until he looked at him in anger.
"You little brat! You're gonna pay for that!"
"Momo, stay back and go get my mom!"
"No! You can't face them on your own!" Momo pleaded as she tried to stop him from fighting the bullies and she was worried for him
Ryoichi only looked back at her with a smile but still looked nervous.
"It's fine. Because I am here!" He said, sounding confident. "Now, go get my mom."
She was hesitant until she got back up and went to get his mom. The bullies only grinned at him.
"You really think you can take on all of us, monkey boy?"
"Trying to play the role of a hero? Pathetic. Can't even become a hero with that weak tail of yours."
Ryoichi grinned back at them as he got more serious.
"I'll show you... I can become a hero one day! I'll protect people from jerks like you!" Ryoichi declared at them.
"Alright then... you asked for this. Come on boys!"
They then rushed at him with their quirks and Ryoichi had some regret of trying to fight them. He was getting beat up for a while until they saw Momo ,with his mom this time, running towards them.
"Crap! Let's get outta here! You're lucky this time."
They ran away as Ryoichi was left on the ground with a black eye and a bruised cheek.
"M-mom?" He said weakly and could barely open his bruised eye.
"Oh my god, my baby! What happened?!" Yui said worriedly.
"Those bullies were picking on me until he punched one of them and saved me."
"He saved you? I'm glad but we need to get him healed."
Yui picked him up and they rushed back to his place. He was getting bandaged up from his fight as Yui slightly scolded him.
"Ryoichi, why did you pick a fight with those bullies? You know I told you never fight someone with a quirk."
"I know, but those big bullies, they were picking on us and were hurting Momo and... and…"
"And you fought them."
He looked sad, thinking his mother was upset with him.
"I'm sorry mom... But I promise, I'll never fight again. I just wanted to make you proud."
"Don't you see? I am proud! You stood up to those who would harm you and the ones you love close to you. I want you to promise me this, always protect those who can't protect themselves and stand up to those who are cruel and unjust."
Ryoichi looked up at her as tears were rolling down his face and he hugged her.
"I promise mom. I promise."
Meanwhile in the other room, a young Kari, his twin sister, and Momo heard everything.
"Wow, Ryoichi really is amazing." Momo sounded amazed by his actions earlier.
"He is. That's my brother to ya. Do you like him or something?"
Momo blushed at her question.
"W-what?! No! He's nice but I don't like him like that!"
"Heh. Keep telling yourself that."
As the years went on, Ryoichi and Momo have been by each other's side. One day, when Momo visited Ryoichi's place, they had a playdate as they played superheroes and their mothers decided to make it more fun.
"Oh, help us!" Yui said, acting like she was in danger.
"Is there anybody who could save us?" Yumi piped.
Then, the door opened, revealing the two small heroes and they wore different versions of a web slinger's costume.
"We are here!" Both Ryoichi and Momo said in excitement.
They ran at their mothers and jumped as they hugged them and laughed.
"That's right. Our little heroes saved us!" Said Yui.
After that, Ryoichi and Momo sat down, watching tv with Yui. They were watching some old footage of Yui during her days of being her. They looked amazed at the action. One thing came to their minds for their future hero careers.
"Mom…" Ryoichi spoke, getting her attention. "Can… Will I be a hero like you and dad one day?" He asked as he looked up at her.
"Yeah, will I be one too? You're so cool and amazing, I want to become a hero like you, too." Said Momo.
She looked at both of them and felt moved to see her son and the one person admires her. She smiled and hugged them close to her.
"Ryoichi, Momo, you two will make great heroes in the future. I know you will, and I will watch you two succeed in being pros."
They looked at her with wide eyes of excitement and hugged her back. They hung with each other for the next few years and got closer, slowly developing feelings for one another.
They went to the same elementary school and he would usually stand up for her when she would get picked on but instead of fighting, he would usually avoid their hits until a teacher would come. One day, when the bullies picked another fight with them, this one was worse as they pinned him down and hurt his tail so bad that he lost some of the fur from it and became badly damaged. Yui heard what happened and decided that it was best if they moved back. It was moving day and they were nearly done with packing up.
"I'm sorry that you guys have to move back. It was nice to see Momo and Ryoichi become good friends, but sad to see them separate like this." Yumi said, sounding sad for the two.
"I know, but seeing how he got injured last time, I couldn't take it anymore. It was a lot calmer back where we lived. Maybe one day they'll see each other again."
"Yeah, let's hope that."
Meanwhile in the Akatani's now empty house, a slightly older Ryoichi was leaning on his arm as he was staring blankly outside the window of his now empty room. He looked different as his hair looked a bit straight and part of it covered his left eye. He then heard a knock on the door.
"You can come in. It's not even my room anymore so... whatever…"
"Still, don't you think it's a bit rude to enter without knocking?" Momo's voice piped up.
He looked back to see it was Momo and his expression slightly changed.
"Oh, hey. You wanted something?" Ryoichi asked with a slight happier tone
"Yeah... your mother wanted me to see where you were. She said it's... time to go…" Her voice cracked when she said that.
His expression changed back to his emotionless one as he got up and was leaving.
"I see... Well, I guess this is goodbye then…"
"Y-yeah... I guess it is…" She sounded sad and choked up those last words.
Before he could leave, she called out to him as he turned around and was greeted by Momo hugging him.
"What are you-?"
He then heard sobbing and realized she was crying.
"P-please... don't leave me…"
He just stood there, confused on what to do until he hugged her back.
"I... I'm sorry it has to be this way Momo…"
He started crying too but held it back to be strong for her. They separated from the hug and he saw tear stains on her face and wiped them away.
"Don't cry. You'll mess up your face."
"I-I'm sorry, but knowing my best friend is leaving... I... I don't know what to do…"
She felt tears welling up again until she felt a hand on her face and she looked up at him as he was smiling this time.
"Don't worry. No matter what, I'll always be with you."
"Do you… Do you promise that you won't ever forget me?" She asked with some worriedness in her voice.
"Momo, of course I promise. You're my best friend. We'll… we'll have to say goodbye now…" Ryoichi trailed off for her.
"But, we'll say hello again." She finished as she smiled at him.
He then planted his forehead against hers as she was surprised for a bit.
"I promise, I'll never forget you, Momo."
She felt small tears in her eyes but held them back for him.
"I'll never forget you too."
They went back outside and both of them said their goodbyes one last time before he left. Once they were no longer in sight, Momo felt herself getting emotional again and hugged her mother as she broke down again.
"Shhh, it's okay sweetie. It's okay. You'll meet him again, I'm sure of it." Yumi said as she comforted her.
"I-I just... wanna be by his side…" Momo softly cried out.
With Ryoichi, he was staring out the window blankly, but he was actually sad about leaving Momo. He didn't show it until Kari got his attention.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah... I'm fine…"
He looked out the window again and soon they got back to their old place. Ryoichi soon met Midoriya and Akio again in their first year of middle school.
"Ryoichi, you're back!" Midoriya said with excitement.
"Yeah… I'm back…" Ryoichi said with a small smile.
Akio picked up on this and noticed something was wrong.
"Something wrong? You don't seem yourself." He asked, pointing out his tired looks and his hair being different from before.
"It's nothing. I'm fine." Ryoichi tried to hide it from them, but it only made them worry more.
Midoriya looked behind him and noticed something was missing.
"Ryoichi… Where's your tail…?" He asked with slight fear in his voice.
Ryoichi looked shocked at him to notice it was gone. He was about to answer it with something else to avoid the topic, but he couldn't. He just looked down sad, remembering what happened, and they noticed his sadness.
"S-sorry I asked. I was just… curious, that's all." Midoriya apologized.
"No, it's fine. Like you just said, you were only curious." He said while trying to fight back his tears. "So, how about you catch me up with what I missed, yeah?"
He suggested, trying to avoid the subject. The two looked at each other, worried for their friend, but they agreed with him and went to school together. Akio told him while he was away, he met two other valkyrus that were like him.
"You must be Ryoichi. I'm Selvaria Bles." She introduced herself to him.
"And I'm Alicia Melchiott. Akio told us about you, and you seem like a nice person to be friends with him. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you both too." He said back to them and formed a small smile.
After their introduction, the old trio were walking to class as Ryoichi was thinking of something. As he was thinking, two students stopped them as they called out to Midoriya.
"Hey, Midoriya. Who's your new bodyguard?" A voice piped up, sounding like they were making fun of him.
"And what's with the edgy look?" Another voice was heard.
The three of them looked back to see two students that looked familiar to Ryoichi. He recognized them from Bakugo's group, although one appears to be missing.
"Hey, if you guys don't remember, this is Ryoichi. And I suggest you watch who you're insulting." Akio said with a threatening voice.
"Akio, it's fine. Let's just go." Midoriya suggested as he was preventing from getting into a fight.
"Oi, what's going on here?" Another voice piped in, this time sounding angry.
It turned out to be Bakugo as Akio groaned in annoyance while Midoriya got nervous.
"O-oh, hey Kacchan! We w-were just heading to class!" Midoriya said, trying to be friendly with him.
"Tch. Whatever, Deku. Just stay out of my way!" He barked at him, until he then noticed Ryoichi. "Who's the emo?"
"Oh, that's Ryoichi. You remember him right? He looks different, but he's still the same guy as before." Midoriya reintroduced Ryoichi to him.
Bakugo took a look at him until rolled his eyes and walked past the trio.
"He's still the same as ever, huh?" Ryoichi pointed out.
"Yeah… That's Kacchan for you." Midoriya said in relief as Bakugo didn't try to start a fight with them.
"Let's get to class before he comes back and does."
They agreed with him and went on with their day. Ryoichi felt right at home, back with his old friends, but a piece was still missing for him. One day, when he got home from school, he sat on his bed and was gonna do some work but an unframed photo from his dresser fell down to the floor and caught his eye. He went to go get it and what he saw was a picture of him and Momo when they were kids. He sat back down on his bed, looking at the photo and memories were coming back to him. Unknown to him, tears were falling down his face. He soon fully broke down into tears, while his mother came into his room and comforted him.
"It's okay. Shhh, I'm here for you." Yui said as she caressed his head.
He hugged her as he cried into her shoulder.
"I-I... I really miss her… It's all my fault…"
"No, sweetie, don't say that. It's not your fault." She hugged him as she caressed his head, calming down his sobs. "Don't worry, I'm sure you two will meet again."
She comforted him all night and made sure everything was gonna be alright with him. A few months passed and Ryoichi's friends were greeted by a surprising sight.
"Woah! Your hair, it's back to normal." Midoriya pointed out that his hair was back to its usual spikey cut.
"So you never cut it?" Asked Akio.
"Not really. If I did, then it wouldn't even grow back out to this. Would've stayed the same." Ryoichi stated.
"Well, it's nice to see you're out of your edgy phase." Selvaria said, stating that she didn't like his "edgy phase."
"Yeah, I figured this was the real you Akio was talking about. Your edgy phase made me a bit uncomfortable." Alicia admitted while trying not to sound mean.
"It wasn't an edgy phase!" Ryoichi shouted in embarrassment while blushing a little.
'He's back. I'm actually glad.' Akio thought as he smiled for his friend. "Well, let's get going. Don't wanna be late for school."
"Yeah, and after that, it's U.A. for us! Let's go be heroes!"
They cheered as they pumped their fists in the air. Meanwhile, at another school, a girl was on her way to school as she was looking at a photo of her younger self next to a spiky haired boy with a tail. She smiled as she put the photo away.
"I hope to see you soon... Ryoichi Akatani…" said his childhood best friend, Momo Yaoyorozu.
