Third Person POV
This is it. Now it's everybody's favorite time of the day. Hero Basic Training. And their teacher was none other than...
"I am here! Coming through the door like a hero!" All Might announced himself.
That's right, their teacher was All Might and everyone seemed excited about it, especially the two fanboys. And by two, it's Izuku and Ryoichi. And of those two, it's mostly Izuku.
"Hehe. I thought you were a marvel fan?"
"Oh I am. I just didn't think he would be teaching us hero stuff! Plus…" Ryoichi leaned over to her and whispered. "My mom was his sidekick once too."
Momo looked surprised and now was containing her excitement. "I see…"
"Welcome to the most important class at UA High. Think of it as 'Hero–ing 101.' Here, you will learn the basics of being a pro. And what it means to fight in the name of good! Let's get into it, today's lesson will punch no punches!" All Might then pulled out a flashcard that had the word "BATTLE'' on it.
"Fight training!" Bakugo said being pumped.
"Real combat?" Izuku said being nervous.
"This should be interesting. Now you got my attention."
"But one of the keys of being a hero is... LOOKING GOOD!"
All Might pointed to a wall that opened up to have different numbered containers.
"These were designed for you based on your Quirk registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started."
Everyone cheered with excitement as they were finally able to wear their costumes.
"Alright! Now we're talking." Ryoichi said with excitement.
"Get yourselves suited up, and then meet me at Training Ground Beta!"
"Yes, sir!"
Everyone headed to the locker rooms to change into their costumes. Most of them had either costumes that were requested for their quirk while some...
"You guys done yet?" Akio asked.
"Hold on, give me a sec! This thing is new and it still isn't easy getting in like the old one." Ryoichi said while putting on his suit.
For Ryoichi, instead of wearing the one he would usually wear, he asked his mom for some changes of the suit that would be suitable for his quirk, and he just made his new web shooters.
"You guys can go on ahead. I'll catch up with you guys soon!" Izuku told them.
"Alright if you say so–"
The door swung open to reveal Ryoichi in his upgraded suit.
"Woah! You're looking fire!" Josuke complimented his costume.
"About time, now let's go."
Training Ground Beta
"They say that clothes make the pros, young ladies and gentlemen, and behold, you are the proof!"
The class walked out of the tunnel as the sun shined upon them and their suits, like walking on stage doing a fashion show.
"Take this to heart: From now on you are all... heroes in training! This is getting me all revved up. You look so cool! Now. Shall we get started, you buncha newbies?"
Everyone was chatting with each other and checking out each other's hero costumes, as they waited for class to start.
"You seriously made those web shooters?" Josuke asked, being amazed.
"Yeah, I thought it'd be a good way to move around and be able to capture enemies. I had some help though, since I didn't have enough materials." Ryoichi explained.
"So you and your sister worked on them?" Akio asked.
"Actually, I helped him." Momo spoke as she appeared by them. "We both worked on them and I helped with improving on the design. You're welcome by the way."
"Oh, you don't need to–" Ryoichi stopped when he saw Momo's costume and immediately blushed. Her suit was skin tight as well, but it was a bit more revealing.
"Is something wrong?" Momo wondered what was wrong.
"O–oh uh, nothing really! Y–your suit looks great on you…"
Momo blushed at his compliment. "T–thank you. You look great too…"
"Thanks…"
They heard footsteps coming from the tunnel and looked to see Izuku in his hero suit. Or what some would like to call it, the "All Might Junior suit." Ryoichi covered his mouth, even though having his mask on, and looked away from him.
"You're so obvious…" Ryoichi muttered.
All Might started to explain what was happening. "Now that you're ready, it's time for combat training. I'm gonna move you two steps ahead. Most villain fights you see on the news take place outside. however, statistically speaking the run–ins with most dastardly evil–doers take place indoors. Think about it. Backroom deals, home invasions, secret underground lairs. Truly intelligent villains stay in the shadows. For this training exercise, you'll be split into two teams of good guys and bad guys and fight two–on–two indoor battles."
"Isn't this a little advanced?"
"The best training is what you get on the battlefield! But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time. You're dealing with actual people now."
"Sir, will you be deciding who wins?"
"How much can we hurt the other team?"
"Do we need to worry about the losers getting expelled like earlier?"
"Will you be splitting us up based on chance or comparative skills?"
"Isn't this cape trÃs chic?"
"Will one of us be on a three person team?"
"I wasn't finished talking!" All Might exclaimed. "Listen up. The situation is this. The villains have hidden a nuclear missile somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must try to foil their plans. To do that, the good guys either have to catch the evil–doers or recover the weapon. Likewise, the bad guys succeed if they protect their payload or capture the heroes."
"Oh, so a classic action movie set up." Ryoichi pointed out.
"Exactly. Time's limited, and we'll choose teams by drawing lots!"
Everyone drew their slots and partnered up with who got the same letter as them. Everyone except for...
"Hold on a sec, if there's 25 of us, then that means I have to be on a three person team right?" Asked Ryoichi.
"Ah yes, that's right. Hmm. Would anyone like a third partner on their team?" All Might asked the students.
Everyone just either talked or stood there in silence like they were hesitant about having him on their team. Ryoichi's mouth was wide open as he looked in shock at his classmates.
"Well this is an unfortunate turn of events…"
"You guys are mean!" Ryoichi exclaimed at them.
"Sorry dude, it's not us, it's just that…"
"You're clearly the strongest one out of all of us here, so you should be fine going solo."
"Yeah, and to be honest, you look menacing with that outfit."
"Even though it's manly."
Ryoichi looked in disbelief at his classmates' comments about him. That was until a hand rose up.
"I'll be on his team!"
The hand was revealed to be Josuke's as he had it high in the air.
"All right then, I suppose you can be on his team after your turn. And you will go against…" All Might pondered on for a moment and picked a team. "Ah, you'll go against team C!"
Ryoichi wondered who was on that team and then became surprised. It was a short grape haired looking kid and…
"Oh, we're against Yaoyo… Yaoya… How do you say her name?" Josuke asked when he was struggling with her name.
"Yaoyorozu…" Ryoichi corrected while still being surprised.
"Yeah, Yaoyorozu! Oh wait… I see the problem now."
"Now I declare that the first teams to fight will be... these guys!" All Might pulled out a black and white ball from the boxes that VILLAIN and HERO had on it. It was hero Team A: Midoriya and Uraraka vs. villain Team D: Bakugo and Iida. Oh let's see how this goes.
"Everyone else can head to the monitoring room to watch!"
"Yes, sir!"
As everyone was heading towards the monitoring room to watch, Josuke walked up to Ryoichi and whispered to him. "I have a bad feeling for Midoriya. I mean, him against Bakugo?"
"Yeah, but I think he has something up his sleeve."
"You think he'll win?
"Bakugo's tough. But he's too cocky. He'll let the fight and anger get into his head and lose the point of the objective. So, maybe Izuku can make it through this." Ryoichi said with some hope.
"If you say so. And there's our fight too, you know." Josuke reminded him.
"Yeah… thanks for reminding me." Ryoichi replied in a slightly sarcastic tone.
They arrived at the monitoring room to watch the fight, before the match started, someone tugged on his vest and he looked to see Jiro, looking worried for him.
"Is something wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just… You're going against Yaoyorozu, right?" She asked him.
Ryoichi became worried and nervous when she asked him that. "Yeah, and honestly, I'm kinda nervous. How will I know where my limit should be during my match? What if I accidentally use too much power and hurt her?" He said and got more anxious.
"Well… I'm sure you won't do anything too irrational. It's just a trial so…" Jiro said as she tried to calm him down.
"Okay… I guess you got a point. I just need to calm down about this and take it easy." Ryoichi said as he was calming himself down.
He then looked over to Momo as she looked like she was thinking. She also looked nervous with small sweat beads going down her face. She noticed him and did a small wave at him and he waved back.
"Yeah, nothing to worry about… I hope." Ryoichi thought.
The match began as Team A sneaked into the building and Bakugo, as expected, went on his own to ambush them, leaving Iida behind with the bomb. When Bakugo found them, Izuku and Uraraka split up as he fought Bakugo head on and she went for the bomb. It was difficult as Bakugo was being rough with him and Iida, playing the role of the villain well, was making it difficult for Uraraka to get the bomb due to his engine quirk. They soon got the upper hand as Midoriya used his quirk to throw both Iida and Bakugo off guard, breaking his arm in the process and Uraraka used her zero gravity quirk to capture the bomb. Izuku was sent to the nurses office when he passed out.
"That was... Intense…" Jiro said
"True, but he kind of got reckless when Bakugo started to take things seriously and took his anger out on him." Ryoichi stated.
"Hmmmm, wonder where he got that recklessness from?" Akio said with a smug smile as he looked at Ryoichi.
"Shut it. I don't wanna hear anything from you." Ryoichi said as he glared at him.
Jiro laughed quietly from his reaction while she and a certain someone claimed it to be, "cute."
"Well despite the results, the MVP of this exercise is Young Iida!" All Might announced.
The students gasped at All Might saying that Iida was the MVP even though he was on the villain team and lost.
"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes instead, since they're winners?" A frog girl asked.
"Mmm! Valid Question. Why didn't I choose one of those two? Who has a guess?"
Ryoichi and Momo raised their hands at the same time.
"Sir! I can tell you why!"
They just looked at each other and blushed.
"Oh you go first." Ryoichi insisted.
"Why thank you. Anyways, Iida embraced this challenge. He was the only one who truly adapted to his assigned role. Care to explain, Ryoichi?"
"Gladly." Ryoichi then went on with his explanation. "Bakugo's judgement was clouded by a personal grudge against Izuku, that he should really let go of at this point. Using a large scale attack like that indoors was a dumb move and could've been dangerous. Same goes for Izuku. Sure his plan was to throw both villains off guard, but he hardly thought it out considering the damage he did and how quickly he did it. He rendered himself helpless. Smart but not smart. And for Uraraka, she let her guard down mid–battle, definitely not big brain play right there, and her final attack was too reckless even for her."
"Exactly. If she'd treated the fake weapon as though it was real, she never would've risked using such an imprecise move. Iida was fully prepared for his opponent's arrival. He had a strategy and never lost sight of his mission, to protect the dummy weapon, even if he was foiled in the end." Momo continued.
"Now that's what I call a battle smart strategy."
Iida was blushing as he was being praised by his fellow students.
"Technically, the hero team won, yes…"
"But they took advantage of the fact that this was just training. They didn't respect the trial."
Everyone looked in shock as they fully did a whole summary of the training, including All Might.
"These two really have a good eye on them." All Might thought. "Yes... Well, you overlooked a few things. Young Iida could have relaxed a little bit in the exercise, but... otherwise, you nailed it!"
"One should always start with the basics and devote themselves wholeheartedly to learning. That's the only real way to become a top hero."
Ryoichi noticed that Uraraka was looking sad and started to feel bad for her. He did practically scold her for what she did, but he didn't think he went that hard on her. He walked up to her and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Don't take it personally. This is just training, and think of it as learning from your mistakes so you won't mess up again and be better." He told her.
Uraraka just looked up at him and now had a determined face. Meanwhile Momo and Jiro were a little jealous but just shook it off.
"Now then, time to blow this joint! Let's move on to the next match! Think about everything we saw and discussed as you tackle this training yourself." All Might said and continued the matches.
"Yes, sir!"
The second match was set as Team B, Todoroki and Shoji, were the heroes and Team I, Ojiro and Hagakure, were the villains. As the match began, the hero team went inside and Shoji oddly exited the building. Suddenly, the building began to get covered in ice, most likely it was Todoroki. Not only was the inside of the building cold, almost everyone in the monitor room watching the fight was cold and shivering as well.
"H–he incapacitated them without compromising the weapon or his teammate. Take close note of his technique, students." All Might said while shivering.
"Woah, he's so strong!"
"S–so cold." Momo shivered. suddenly felt something wrapped around and noticed yoichi took off his vest and wrapped it around her for warmth.
"Warmer?" Ryoichi asked her.
"Yeah, thank you." She thanked him as she blushed a little.
After a few matches, it was finally Ryoichi's team turn as he and Josuke were the heroes and Momo's team were the villains.
"So… You think we can stand a chance against Yaoy… Momo?" Josuke said as he gave up on saying her name. "I mean, that Mineta guy doesn't seem much, other than watching out for those ball things, but Momo on the other hand?"
"Yeah, I see where you're getting at. From what we've seen, Mineta has those ball things on his head and they can stick to anything, and most likely trap anyone, so it's better if we take it easy. However, with Momo…" Ryoichi sighed when thinking about a plan to deal with her.
"She can create anything, right?"
"Basically, yeah. But we might have an advantage here. Her creation is still limited, so she might not use the same strategy from her match."
"Okay, but what exactly do we do?"
Ryoichi thought for a moment until he came up with something. He then told Josuke his plan and he understood what they needed to do.
"Alright, let's do our best!" Josuke said being pumped.
Ryoichi nodded as he put his mask on and got serious.
"FINAL MATCH, BEGIN!"
