Chapter 90 – Life Day Morning

Luke and Ines woke up around 7 am in each others arms. It was a cold Life Day Morning and without words they started to smiled, cause they knew exactly why they were doing it.

"Come in," Luke told looking at the door, and right after he said that, the door of their bedroom opened and their 4 kids entered, with the twins, holding their youngest brother by hand, the toddler sucking his pacifier and smiled the moment he saw his parents.

"Hey look who is also awake. How shocking," Ines laughed, picking up her toddler and cuddling him, smiling when Lukey lay on top of her and rest his head on her chest, sucking his pacifier, while his older siblings jump on the bed, with the girls getting between their parents right away.

"I was expecting your sisters, but you too, mister?" Luke replied also laughing, running his left fingers on his oldest son's brown hair.

"Hey I'm a kid too and I'm sorry but I like presents too," Ben replied at his father, which made Luke pulled him into his arms and kiss the top of his head.

"Didn't you like to receive presents too when you were kid from Ancient Wookiee, Papa?" Alli asked.

"Well of course I liked to get presents, but when I was a kid like all of you, we didn't celebrate Life Day like now."

The girls gasped and sat down on the bed the moment Luke said those words.

"The Ancient Wookiee didn't give you presents," Padmé said pouting.

"Papa was naughty?" Alli asked putting her hands on her hips.

"Sometimes I was naughty, like you two," he winked at them with a smile, "But it wasn't the case. We just didn't have enough money to have a tree and the decorations we have now. Besides you know Papa's planet, and we didn't have time to have lunches cause we need to work every day to get water and food."

"That's sad," Ben frown.

"Well now you understand why mom and I make sure to take all of you to see the many planets and how people live there?" Ines asked them.

"Yes. Not everyone have a good life with good houses and good family, like us," Ben replied.

"That's right. And Papa was one of those kids. I had a house, a food and water, and clothes and an aunt and uncle that loved him and took care of me, but we weren't rich. So Life Day was just a normal day for us."

"So you never got presents?" Alli asked.

"On my birthday I got presents from my uncles," Luke nod.

"Papa, don't worry. I will take care of that when I'm older," Alli said right away, making Ines and Luke smile.

"We know sweetie," Ines said looking at her toddler, and kissed his blond hair.

"But you got presents, right mom?" Ben asked her.

"Well mom and aunt Leia had a totally different life than your father."

"You lived in a palace," Padmé smiled at that.

"I bet it was beautiful," Alli agreed.

Ines smiled at her girls.

"It was sweetie, not only the palace, but the city and the mountains, the woods."

"Did you have a big tree and got a lot of presents too?" the little girl asked again.

"Yes we did and yes we got a lot of presents."

"Because you were not naughty!" Padmé said right away.

Luke shook his head giggling at his kids.

"The question is: were you naughty or good this year?!" he asked looking at them.

"I was good!" Ben said raising his hand right away.

"Me too!" Padmé replied right behind her older brother.

Everyone looked at Alli, who smiled at them and hide her face in her father's chest giggling.

"Why are you hiding your face?" Ines asked laughing.

"Because…"

"You know you did some bad things didn't you, young lady," Luke spoke.

Raising her head, Alli looked straight in the eyes for her father.

"But I said sorry, and Padmé did something bad too, remember running away."

"Oops!" Padmé giggled. "Does that mean I don't get presents?"

Luke and Ines glare at each other.

"Well, knowing that we can't get back to sleep, let's get up and see," Luke answering them.

"But NO RUNNING!" Ines yelled when the kids got out of the bed screaming and running. "Your siblings," she said looking at Lukey who smiled at her, while they also got out of bed and while Luke walked towards the living room, Ines decided to change Lukey's diaper first.

An hour later:

Ines and Luke were sitting on the lounge, watching their kids happy with the presents, especially the girls who loved the new robe that they got.

"Look Mama," Alli said wearing her new robe.

"Do you like it?" Ines asked her.

"Yeah. It is soft and warm."

"And guess what, it glows in the dark," she nod making the girls jump around all happy.

Luke was watching his youngest son, who was walking around holding tightly a stuffed toy of Uncle Chewie wearing his Life day robes and holding the glowing globe.

"Someone loved his new stuffed toy," he said laughing when his son looked at him and smiled.

"Chew!" the 18 months old said squeezing the toy even more.

"Yes, it is uncle Chewie."

"Mom, Dad, what about you two. You didn't get presents? Only us?" Ben noticed with a frown.

"Yeah!" the twins said at the same time.

Luke and Ines glare at each other.

"Your mom have a present that I have for her, don't worry. But the four of you are the most important people of our lives, so we like to see you happy. When I was a little girl, your grandparents did the same thing."

"Besides you are lucky. Remember what I said: not every kid got presents last night."

Padmé approached her father.

"Because their parents don't have money?"

"Yes but not only that sweetie. Many kids don't have a mama and a papa too."

"Where do they live?" Alli asked with a worried face.

"Well some of them live with their grandparents, or uncle and aunt, like I did."

"Or get adopted like uncle Han and aunt Leia did to cousin Iris, right dad?" Ben replied making Luke smiled at him and nod.

"But what if the kids don't have anyone," Alli asked again.

"When that happens, there are places that take care of those kids until they have a new family or get old enough to take care of themselves," Luke continue.

"And some of those places don't have enough money to give toys or clothes to the many kids they take care of," Ines finished, leaving the kids looking at each other.

Then Alli approached her mother.

"I can give some of my old toys and clothes to them. I don't wear them or play with them and they are getting dust."

"Yeah, and maybe the kids like it and want to play with it."

"Yeah. I have some toys I don't play with them too. I don't mind to give some to those kids," Ben replied too, making Luke and Ines smiled at their kids.

"That is very sweet of you and we are very proud," Luke smiled, pulling Padmé and Ben towards him.

"It is a way to help, right?" Alli said looking at her mother.

"Yes it is sweetie. Later on we choose some things you don't want and we go tomorrow give to the orphan children."

"Yay." they said.

While the kids were still playing with some of the toys, Luke grabbed a box and sit down next to Ines.

"I think it is time for you to get your present."

Ines smiled at that.

"But I want to give you mine first," and she handle a box, making Luke smile while he grabbed it and unwrapped it.

"No way," Luke said opening the box and taking off a type of watch. "I was eager to have one of these. It is so helpful, especially to know the heart beats while I do my lightsaber exercises."

"I know, that's why I decided to buy it for you. Glad you liked it."

"Like it. I love it. Thanks sweetheart," Luke said putting on his left wrist right away, and looking at Ines, he kissed her. "Now it is my turn. Hope you like it too."

"I'm sure I will," she said unwrapping her gift, but the moment she opened it the box, she gasped and her eyes filled with tears. "Luke, where did you get this?"

"Your father told me about your mother's bracelet that he gave to her on their wedding day and I found this store that the owner does jewelry from many other systems, and I asked him if he could make the same model of bracelet that your mother had."

Ines couldn't help to let the tears roll down her face.

"I loved that bracelet. And my mother told me that when I married she would give it to me, so I could give to my daughter when she married. And all of that was gone when she died," looking at her husband, Ines smiled. "Thank you babe. I love you."

"Mama are you sad?" Alli asked right away, standing up and approaching her.

"No sweetie. These are happy tears. I'm happy."

The 5 years old look at the bracelet and gasped.

"That's papa present. It is beautiful."

"Yes it is, and I think your father deserves a special present later on," she smirked at him.

"I want a special present too," Alli frown.

"Not as long I'm alive," Luke said right away, making Ines shake her head.

"Don't listen your father, he is silly old man."

"Yeah."

"Excuse me, I'm what young lady," Luke said grabbing his daughter and ticking her, while Ines watched. Yeah she was lucky to have him in her life and have the family she always wanted to have.

Finally the presents were opened. What did you think of Luke's present to Ines?
