Swinging high through the skies of Manhattan, Spider-Man was doing his usual late routine of patrolling, at least to kill some time before his get-together with Aunt May, Mr. Osborn, his two best friends/loft mates and Mary Jane for Thanksgiving party.

Speaking of MJ, Peter couldn't believe he had forgotten to look out for her when he was tailing those hoodlums that rainy night. Fearing for her safety, he called her the next morning. When MJ answered the call, Peter was met with relief that she was okay. He had to thank that mysterious Spinneret for stopping those hoodlums.

What still going in his mind though, was that kiss from Spinneret herself. That left him... confused.

Peter kept telling himself he still loves MJ, but that kiss from his female counterpart... it's almost like something inside was saying she's the one meant for him. It really drove him nuts for countless hours when he couldn't choose between the two seemingly different girls fighting for his heart.

He's gonna have to figure it out for himself at some point, one way or the other.

Thankfully, breaking out of his conflicting thoughts, Spider-Man just saw a puff of smoke going on in the distance. As he swung his way closer to investigate, he saw that it was an apartment building being caught in a fiery blaze from the inside. Surrounding it on the streets below were the incoming fire trucks, ambulance and police cars.

As the occupants of the building were being evacuated, he saw that among them was a woman screaming for her baby that was still trapped inside, but couldn't get back when the firefighters were struggling to push her back for safety.

"Wait. Let me in! My baby's in there! Let me go!" The woman begged on top of her lungs.

"The roof's collapsing!" One of the firefighters cried out, knowing he would have a baby's life on his conscience.

"Somebody save my baby!"

"The roof's about to collapse!"

Then, one of the bystanders spotted Spider-Man already broken his way inside one of the windows that looked clear of the flames. "Look! Up there!"

"Save my baby, please!"

After hearing her desperate begging cry for his help, Spider-Man knew he had to go scurry through the apartment as fast as he could before the flames could engulf him and the baby inside.

As Spider-Man kept exploring further, he heard a baby crying from one of the rooms. He tried to pay attention to the source of the cries.

After carefully navigating through the flaming debris, Spider-Man kicked the door wide open that led into the nursery room, where the baby was sobbing in his crib, cluelessly terrified of what's even going on in his surroundings.

He gently picked up the baby from his crib and into his arms. "Hi. My name's Spider-Man. Maybe you've read about me?"

The baby stopped crying for a moment when he took notice of Spider-Man's appearance. Despite being confused about what's even going on, he seemed a bit curious of his soon-to-be savior.

Then suddenly, Spider-Man felt his senses buzzing like crazy, telling him to leave the building now; the dangers of the fires were about to trap them in. Quickly and carefully, he held the baby close to his chest and ran out the same way he broken his way in.

Spider-Man, at the last possible second, jumped out of the entry window as the flames burst out from within the building behind him. He shot a web to break his fall while still using his upper torso to shield the innocent baby.

The moment he landed on the streets, Spider-Man approached the concerning mother. "It's okay. Your baby's fine," He safely passed the little one to her arms.

"Oh, my baby!" The mother cried, feeling relieved her child was alive and well in her hands. "God bless you, Spider-Man. Bless you."

Before Spider-Man could appreciate her kindness, he heard someone calling out for his attention.

"There he is! Don't let him get away!" One of the cops rushed his way through the crowd and meet the Web-Head face-to-face with the pointed finger while his other hand on his standard-issue pistol, obviously with intent to apprehend him. "Hold it right there! You're under arrest. I'm taking you in -"

"Withdraw that arrest, Carter!" An authoritative voice was heard from behind.

Spider-Man looked over behind Officer Carter to see the source of the voice. He saw a gray-haired elderly man in a police uniform with two each golden bars hanging on his shoulders and his badge proudly pinned on his breast pocket. It was Captain George Stacy.

Feeling baffled by his superior's words, Carter tried to argue for Spider-Man's arrest. "But, sir, he's a vigilante. We should take him while he's still -"

"Carter, this brave young man right here just save this child's life," Captain Stacy counter-argued with his fellow officer. "Would you like to arrest a hero who risked his life to allow this fortunate little soul to see another light of day with his mother?"

Spider-Man felt his eyes widened behind his mask, feeling surprised at how supportive one of New York's most renowned finest and best friend's father garnered for him. Maybe Spinneret was right, maybe not everyone thought he was some menace Jameson claimed him to be.

Carter was still feeling gobsmacked and lost by his superior's words, not knowing how to argue that statement. "But... Captain -"

Before he could say anymore, one of the other bystanders pointed her finger upwards. "Oh my God, there's somebody still up there!"

Everyone turned their attention towards the the burning building when another apparent victim's scream was heard from within.

Spider-Man turned his head back to the police officers, already made up his mind to head straight back in. "I'm going."

Though Carter looked hesitant to let him go, Captain Stacy gave a genuine look of good faith to the young hero. "You go right ahead, son," He permitted with a sincere voice, yet in such a way to give Spider-Man a sense he somehow knew him personally under the mask.

Shaking that thought aside, Spider-Man gave an appreciating nod to his words. "Thank you, Captain."

After receiving a farewell salute from Captain Stacy, Spider-Man quickly leaped high towards the top floor of the burning building and shot twin web lines to the roof to swing himself to a clear window. After breaking inside again, he constantly looked around his fiery surroundings to find the trapped victim. "Where are you? Where are you?!"

Immediately, Spider-Man spotted what seemed to be an elderly woman with a large gown covering over her head, looking like she was panicking for her dear life. "I'm gonna get you out of here! It's okay."

As Spider-Man was about to reach his hand out to reassure the elderly woman, her weeping voice instantly switched to a maniacal laughter. Before he could allow a moment to react, Spider-Man got sucker-punched in the face so hard, he flew across a couple rooms till he smashed his back against a broken door.

The victim, who turned out to be his attacker, dropped the large gown onto the floor, revealing its face to him. It was the Green Goblin all along. "You're pathetically predictable. Like a moth to the flame," He mocked. "What about my generous proposal? Are you in or are you out?"

"It's you who's out," Spider-Man retorted at the green menace, already standing back up and getting ready in his fighting stance. "Out of your mind."

The Green Goblin shook his head in disappointment. "Wrong answer," He grabbed a pumpkin bomb and threw it out from his hand, but instead of its usual exploding nature, it shattered almost like a glass marble and unleashed a swarm of mechanical razor bats with four sharp wings flying towards the Wall-Crawler.

Quickly and instinctually, Spider-Man leaped up from the floor, narrowly dodging the incoming razor bats in the air. As he landed back on the floor, Green Goblin advanced forward, throwing a couple of punches at him.

Sensing the bats flying back towards him, Spider-Man bent over his upper body to allow them to hit back at the Goblin as a karma. Unfortunately, he was met with a kick to the face when he left himself vulnerable to Goblin's leg.

After recovering from his attacks, Spider-Man blocked the Goblin's incoming punch with his right arm and knocked him back with his left elbow.

Then, the razor bats started to fly back at him again. Spider-Man managed to punched the first two with his punches, but another came from out of nowhere, making him screamed in reaction to its sharp wings when it sliced through his left arm. He looked down to see it left a bleeding mark on the now-exposed hole of his costume.

When Spider-Man lowered his arm down, he saw the Green Goblin was about to charge forward with his fist out. He swiped his elbow at the Goblin to the air, then shot a web to pull him back before kicking him so hard, he landed couple of rooms back.

Before Spider-Man could confront him, the debris from the fiery interiors were already reaching to the point of collapsing around him, blocking his only path forward. Seeing this as a pointless fight, he quickly left the burning building.

When the Green Goblin got back up on his feet, he tried to scan around the heavily fire-filled room for his adversary, only to see that he was nowhere to be seen. "No one says "no" to me!"

Reviews:

Wearedeadpool1: I actually got a few ideas that may at least rectify some of the plot holes brought in No Way Home. Unfortunately, those ideas included taking Peter 3/Andrew Garfield and his villains out of it and all will be replaced with some other characters I had in mind(which I won't spoil who though until the distance future).

I know it may upset some of the fans that's reading this, and I deeply apologize for that. Please don't take that as me not liking Andrew Garfield. Just because I'm a Maguire fan, doesn't mean I couldn't appreciate some of the good positives his successors brought in to the table. In fact, I even consider some of those to be better than the Spidey Variant I grew up with. Not everything has to resort into some ridiculous fanboy war just because of an opinion.

Commander 117: Thx, man. As for this fanfic challenge you're bringing up, well, I'd be lying if I said I'm not at all curious, but it really depends on what's it really about. I am still a newbie in terms of writing my own fanfics, so don't expect me to be 100% up for it.

DCDGojira: Great to hear your kind words again. Sadly, no. As awesome as it sounds to have a connective universe (or Multiverse in this case), I prefer to keep my stories self-contained to how I would write them. I just don't want to deal with a hassle of remembering what events going on that can have an effect on the characters I write (whether it was minor or major).
