"What do you need my help with, again?"
"I'm not sure at the moment. But you're a strong witch, and you can be useful in taking down an original." Damon says, giving me a small smirk.
We're driving somewhere, but Damon won't tell me where. We dropped Bonnie off at the grill because she had to meet with Jeremy. I want to ask where we're going, but I just gained his trust back. Even though I show I don't care, I need him to trust me so they believe I am their ally.
I knew the moment I decided to protect the doppelgänger, they would be against Elijah. I knew the moment Elijah told me to come here. This is not something new. Younger vampires have always hated my siblings, or at least grown to hate us. Mostly because we will kill, betray, or backstab anyone who hurts our family. At least we used to.
But now, in the same situation again. A group wants to harm my family, but this time, I may be an accomplice. I cannot even contact Elijah anymore. It's too risky now; we were almost caught.
All I can do is put on my best show. I cannot let them know that I am Elijah and Nik's sister. Not yet. Hopefully, this whole charade will be over soon.
"Okay. We're here." Damon parks the car near the woods. I get out of the car, confused where we are.
Damon goes to the trunk to grab a duffel bag and I look at him confused.
"You'll understand soon. Come on." He said. I just followed him.
We were walking when I realized, I had been here before. I knew this place.
"Why are we going to Katherine's tomb?" I asked him as we walked.
"Because she knows more about the original vampires than any of us. If we want to get rid of Elijah, she's our best bet." He continues to walk.
I have not seen Katherine in a while. She better keep her mouth shut about me, or Klaus will be the least of her worries.
We finally reached the tomb. As we made our way to the stairs of the tomb, we started walking down.
"Do you think she is going to say anything?" I ask.
"She will, if she wants this." Damon says as he holds out a bottle of blood.
We stepped into the tomb, with the spell broken. Damon and I continued to walk in, not hearing a single soul. Then I saw a desiccated body on the floor.
"Wow. It's been a rough time for you, hasn't it, Katherine?" I say with a small laugh.
"It's time to wake up, Kitty Kat." Damon says. He starts waving a bottle of blood in front of Katherine's nose.
Katherine eventually started to stop the bottle. After a few moments, Katherine grabbed the bottle and started chugging it down.
"Drink up, good girl." Damon states as he lets go of the bottle and leaves it with Katherine. "I come bearing gifts. And a friend from the past."
Katherine continues to chug her bottle, when she sees me come up behind Damon, and starts to choke.
"Kallandra?" Katherine asks, and Damon looks at me confused, as he pulls out some clothes.
"Wow, you think I'm my ancestor. You really are dried out." I say, coming up with an excuse. I step closer to her and lean over, and I can see her getting more tense.
"It's Kalle, remember? The girl who's brother you killed." I tell her in a baby voice. I can tell she has no idea what I am talking about. I give her an evil glare, until it clicks to her.
"I know." Katherine says out of breath, surprising me by having my back on this. "It's just...fun to hear you say it."
I gave her a fake laugh and stepped away. Katherine continued to chug the rest of the bottle.
"What is this?" I asked Damon as he put some clothes on the gate.
"Bribery." Damon says with a smirk and I nod. He makes his way back over here, and notices her change in appearance.
"Wow, that blood did the trick." Damon states talking to Katherine. "You're almost pretty again."
Katherine just rolls her eyes and doesn't even seem to fight back. "What do you want Damon."
"Guess who's back in town? Your old friend John Gilbert." Damon tells her.
"Really?" Katherine asks intrigued. "Why?"
"Says he loves his daughter. Want to protect her from Elijah and big bad Klaus." Damon says in a unemotional tone.
"Touching." Katherine says as she gets up from the corner where she had been desiccating.
"Yeah, right? I was told a little wives' tale about how to kill an original." Damon stated.
Katherine then looked at me. I continued not to know what he was talking about. I had been too reckless, but no longer.
"What?" I asked her, and she just shrugged. Instead, she went back to Damon.
"So you wanna know if it's true... If it was, I wouldn't tell you." Katherine states in an annoyed tone. She makes her way to the clothes on the gate.
"Now why not? You want Klaus and Elijah dead just as much as I do." Damon says, trying to reason.
"Klaus, yes. Elijah, no." Katherine says seriously. "He's compelled me to stay in here. If he dies, I'm stuck forever."
Actually, that is not true. When my brother had daggered our siblings, the compulsion just wore off. If that's what they plan to do with Elijah, Katherine would actually be free. I really don't care if she is free at this point. Nik is near, and will definitely catch her. He truly wants to.
But I'm surprised Katherine is not aware of this. But she is a manipulative liar, so she may be lying to our faces right now.
"Sucks for you." Damon said with a smile.
"It would be a suicide mission. You can't kill Elijah." Katherine stated to Damon.
"Can so."
"Can't."
"Even with a dagger, and a little white oak ash?" Damon says and Katherine pauses in shock. She looks absolutely terrified.
"No. No Damon, if you kill Elijah, I'm stuck in here forever." Katherine says terrified.
"You're really scared." I stated, shocked.
"What are you even doing in this group?" Katherine asks, still worried.
"None of your concern."
"Hey, don't question our new witch. She is helping us with our Elijah problem." Damon says and Katherine looks at us in shock.
"She is going to help you kill Elijah?" Katherine asks and Damon shakes his head yes. I just continue to stay neutral.
"Please Damon. Get me out of here first. And then I'll help you! I'll help you kill Elijah or or protect Elena, whatever you want." Katherine says pleading and I can see Damon's smirk growing wider.
"I get you out of here, and your ass sipping Klaus-free margaritas in some unknown island somewhere. No way." Damon says with amusement in his voice.
"I'll stay. I'll stay, but Damon please, don't do it." Katherine pleads one last time.
"You've already told us everything we need to know." Damon says walking away. As he faces away, Katherine asks me something.
"The dagger?" Katherine mouths to me and I shrug my shoulders. I quickly move away.
"I've told you nothing." Katherine states.
"You have. You have indeed told me that it is possible to kill an original. Which I will do tonight." Damon states.
I was caught off guard by that last remark. I thought I had time to come up with something to help Elijah, but tonight?
Once the dagger is in, I won't be able to take it out.
"Wait tonight?" I asked, shocked, and he nodded. "You don't think you're rushing this. You're going against an original; it's a god-given right to have some sense."
"First off, we're going against him, and you will be our secret weapon." Damon says with a smirk, and I just nod, trying to smile.
"See you, Katherine. Let's go with Kalle." Damon says, and I follow him.
I hear Katherine's screams as we walk out of the tomb. She's screaming Damon's name. And she doesn't want to be left here.
But now I'm supposed to stop the dagger from entering Elijah's chest. While also making sure a vampire doesn't dagger him, so he doesn't die. Without giving up my identity. Great.
We arrived back at the Salvatore mansion. Once we arrived, Damon told me his whole plan to dagger Elijah. I have no idea how I'm going to save Elijah. I already warned him, but he probably didn't take it seriously.
Let's worry about making sure Damon does not dagger him though. Still need him alive.
"Are you sure you have to dagger him?" I ask Damon.
"What do you mean?" Damon asks getting some wine glasses from the study.
"I mean why the hell did John give you the dagger? I mean why does he not just dagger Elijah himself." I ask hoping he will question it.
"I have no clue. But you saw Katherine's face, the dagger has to work." He states.
"Yeah so if John had the dagger this entire time, why doesn't he use it?" I ask again.
"Maybe because he is human and can't face Elijah." Damon shrugs his shoulders.
"You can't either." I say. He does a fake gasp in shock.
"Harsh. Words hurt Kalle." Damon says and I roll my eyes.
"Look just think about it. Whether or not he is truly trying to help his daughter, with the hatred you said he has for you, I would not blindly trust his intentions for you to dagger Elijah. He may have tricked you so incase the plan fails, Elijah would kill you instead of John." I say shrugging my shoulders.
Damon silently nods to what I said. I hope he actually takes it to consideration because I have no idea what else to do.
"Ric! It's about time you've shown up." Damon says to the person walking in the lounge area.
I turn around to face him.
"Alaric, right? The history teacher? Damon's only friend?" I ask and he nods his head.
"That's me. Starting to question why we are friends in the first place." Alaric states making his way to Damon.
"Aww come on you love me." Damon says pouring himself a drink.
"Mhm." He goes back to looking at me. "And you're Kalle? The witch who is going to save all our asses?"
"Apparently. Even though all I'm doing is sitting in a room." I state annoyed and Alaric looks at Damon surprised.
"You're having our best bet in taking down Elijah sit in a room for the entire night?" Alaric asks confused.
"Are we just forgetting Kalle the last time you and Elijah were in the same room, he was choking you or are we just skimming past that?" Damon states sarcastically.
"Yeah well you doing this without me is even more crazy." I tell him.
"I'm not. The moment Elijah and I step into the lounge area, you do your magic thing to make sure I can stab him. Bada bing bada boom. One original down." Damon says raising his glass.
"Is he always like this?" I turned to ask Alaric.
"All the time." He says frustrated as well and I nod.
"Hey, um Jenna needs help with the wine." A random girl says stepping into the lounge area. Great, another new person. I don't have the energy for this.
Damon gives Alaric a small pat on the back, and goes to help Jenna. The random girl notices me.
"Oh, I didn't know we were having more guests." The random girl stated.
"You're not." I say, with a fake smile and a side glance at Damon. "Right, Damon."
"You know, being petty doesn't look cute on you." Damon told me, and I gave him a mocking face.
"Whatever." I say as I walk out of the lounge area but stop to tell the girl something. "Hey, um, do me a favor and don't tell anyone I'm here."
"Um..." I see her looking at Damon for approval. I see Damon giving her a short nod from the corner of my eye. "Okay. Sure."
"Mhm. Thanks love." I say, making my way to Damon's room.
Hey, if I'm going to be stuck in a room all night, I might as well be in the best room in the house. And it's the most spacious.
Conversation, conversation, even more boring conversation.
Ugh.
I am so bored. All these people are boring. And you know how I know that?
Because they find Elijah interesting, I love my brother, but after Finn was daggered, he took the spot for being the most boring sibling.
I know Damon, Alaric, and John are faking it but still, so boring. I wanna die ugh.
I've gotten so bored, I've been playing with the stitches in my stomach. I've never had stitches, so this is kinda fun.
Well, while I've been waiting, I figured out a way for Damon not to dagger Elijah. The moment he needs me to help him, I'll just say my powers are acting up. I'll 'accidentally' fling the dagger out of his hand, so Elijah can grab it. That problem is solved.
The only downside I would say is that Damon would be mad and not trust me again. But I don't have any other ideas. I cannot flat out tell him not to dagger Elijah.
Well, unless..
ring ring*
I check my phone to see who's calling, but nobody is.
ring ring*
I get up from the bed and go to where I heard the ringing. Oh, Damon left his phone here. And it's Stefan calling.
"Hello?" I asked on the phone.
"Kalle?" Stefan asks me.
"Yes."
"What are you doing with Damon's phone?" Stefan asks confused.
"He left it in his room. I'm waiting in here in case he needs my help with Elijah." I tell Stefan.
"No! He can't dagger Elijah." Stefan states, frightened. Wait, did he figure it out?
"Why not?" I ask, pretending not to know.
"If a vampire uses the dagger on another vampire, they die." Stefan states.
"Wait, what? How do you know that?" I asked, pretending to be clueless.
"John's diary. He wrote about the originals. He wrote this in his diary. Tell Damon!" Stefan states worried.
"Ok ok! I will ok. Bye." I tell Stefan and then hang up.
Well, this works out for the best. It's actually better than my plan.
I headed out of the room and made my way to the dining room. Damn it, they were already gone.
"Kalle?" Someone asks behind me, and I turn around to see Jenna. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh! I just arrived. I needed to tell Damon something." I told Jenna, and Alaric walked in behind me.
"Well, he just went into the lounge with Elijah." Jenna states.
"Yes, thank you." I say, smiling, and she leaves the dining room and enters the kitchen. Alaric looks at me confused.
"Get that girl from earlier, please. Thank you." I tell him.
"Why?" He asked me.
"Just do it!" I yell at him. He calls her name into the dining room and she comes in shortly after.
"Okay. Now what?" Alaric asks me.
"Now, follow my lead, ok?" I ask him but don't even wait for a respond and head to the lounge area.
"Damon! I've been looking all over for you-oh." I say coming in the lounge, pretending to be surprised. He looks at me confused. "You did not tell me Elijah was going to be here."
"Yeah I wasn't aware YOU were stopping by." He says with a fake smile and I return the gesture.
"Kalle. Sorry about the other night. I just really need to find Klaus. Everyone's lives are in danger because of him." Elijah says, playing along.
"Mhm, of course..." I say, rolling my eyes, then look at Alaric. "Um... Alaric, didn't you say there was some more food?"
He looks at me confused for a second, but then goes along with it. "Yeah! We forgot about dessert."
"Elijah." The women says giving out her hand for Elijah.
Elijah is smitten by her, and he heads to take her hand. "Miss Stanton."
Elijah and the women then head out of the room. Damon nudged me, with a mad and confused look. Alaric had the same look on his face.
"The dagger -" I try to speak, but Damon covers my mouth. He shakes his head no and taps a piece of paper on the table. I forgot; Elijah can't hear this even though I'm pretty sure he's aware. At least, if he listens to me.
I start to write it down on the piece of paper.
'The dagger kills the vampire who uses it.'
Damon then looks at me with shock and annoyance. He then grabs the paper and starts crumbling it up.
"Come on." He pats my back, leading me out of the lounge area towards the dinning room. Guess I am eating now.
We all head back to the dining room.
"Rick, can you do me a favor and get the notebook out of my bag?" The lady said.
"Sure." Alaric goes to her bag.
"Kalle, right? What are you doing here?" John asks me and I just give him a angry glare. For trying to have my brother daggered, and almost killing Damon.
"Don't worry about her. She hasn't repeatedly tried to kill me, unlike some people." Damon hints at this with an angry stare.
Damon then belittles John for a while, basically highlighting how he has tried yet again to kill him. They both start to question how Elijah plans to kill Klaus, which I already know. He needs the doppelgänger alive, for the sacrifice.
Since Elijah seems to want the sacrifice to happen as well, it looks like it's up to me to help these people. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have to save the doppelgänger and her friends.
Ugh, they actually grew on me.
The woman then comes back with her journal and they all stop talking. "Okay. My first question is, when you got here to Mystic Falls-"
"AHHHHH!" Elijah's screams caused me to be startled back by the noise, along with Damon, John, and that woman.
I feel my heart racing, as I look at Elijah. To see him desiccating, with the dagger in his chest. Behind him, I see Alaric holding the dagger.
No. No. No. no. I can't lose Elijah too. No matter how much of a pain he has been in the past few days, he is the only person I have left. I thought I had prevented this. Without Damon to dagger Elijah, I thought this was over. I should have realized that someone other than a vampire would do it. God, why have I been so distracted lately?
My mini stage of freaking out disappears, when Alaric pulls the dagger out of his chest. My heart rate, starts to slow down. I exhale the breath I was holding for a few seconds.
"Now get rid of him, before Jenna comes back with dessert." Alaric said, placing the dagger on the table.
"Alright." Damon responded, impressed. "Let's get him out of here." He stated, looking at me.
Oh, bloody hell. Now I'm in huge trouble. Once Elijah wakes up, he will go after the doppelgänger. There is no way I am coming out of this, without either loosing the trust of these people, or loosing my brother.
What the hell am I supposed to do?
Hey, it's been a while since I talked with y'all. I hope you are enjoying the story so far and are happy with my pace of publishing. I decided to be nice today a publish a few chapters.
I wanted to talk about the length of these chapters as well. So the length is pretty irregular. But, I never can stop at the right time, where it is at the end of the chapter, without it being too short or too long. So, we have chapters that are way longer than others and some that are shorter. Just gotta deal with it.
Also, I try to update as best as I can. I mostly post during the weekends because that's when I'm free but I'm trying to update regularly as best as I can.
Anyways, hope y'all are enjoying the story. It's my first story, and I really think I made a good one. Many mistakes but hey, we're all human.
Tell me your opinions in the comments and what I could do to make my next story better. See you in the next chapter :)
